Yes I think Chad has been undisciplined in that regards. But then again, he's now up against the wall. He's been able to get away without the discipline because well, 1000+ yards a year who's complaining. Carson Palmer was reportedly FURIOUS with Chad for his undisciplined ways. But, as with everything, Chad has a pattern, and Carson was able to pretty much predict where Chad was going to go.

IMO processing speed/accuracy is hard to predict. It's similar to the QB that looks great in college or in a different system, but just never makes it in the pros or on a different team. It's very possible that no matter how hard Chad works, he'll never be able to make those decisions fast enough and consistently enough. It didn't matter when he was in a different system, but it will be as key here as it was in NE.

So, it really wasn't unusual for the McD burger not to rot. Point taken. However, and feel free to disagree, the last outfit I'll listen to for an unbiased opinion is the FDA. The head of the FDA is a former Monsanto bigwig. That smells badly like conflict of interest to me, especially since Monsanto is allowed to ride roughshod over the entire planet spreading their GMO seed faster than wildfire. Screw Monsanto and anyone who ever worked for them. If their entire corporation would dry up and blow away the world would be better off. However their GMO seed in many crops may have gone past the point of no return. Rant ended, for now.

Back to McDs as it pertains to Chad or any other athlete. Would you agree or not that it's not the best source for a majority of the calories consumed by a finely tuned professional athlete? Would you agree that any athlete who eats regularly at fast food restaurants has a bad diet, especially as how it pertains to the nutritional needs of a pro athlete?

I think it would depend on what else Chad is eating. He is working out like a mad man and having one "poor" meal a day isn't going to do too much damage to him.

If I were a well paid finely tuned pro athlete, I'd say the maximum number of times I'd consume fast food in a week would be once. My food budget isn't 1% of his I'd guess, and I often go months on end and never eat at any fast food joints. DSFDF I guess...

Yeah I know the FDA and FTC etc. aren't infallible, but it is the best we got. It's them or nothing almost.

Yes McD's is not as healthful for us as say, Subway without the mayo. Sure but if you don't see it affect them, why not? Dennis Rodman chowed down on Taco Bell incessantly. Everything in moderation, including moderation. If he eats it 3 times a day, yeah that's bad. But once a day, hey, whatever.

Have you seen the diet of Michael Phelps?

These guys work hard, real hard. So the unhealthful aspects of McDonalds (namely the sodium and fat content) might not make up such a large percentage of their calories as they would for someone sedentary. Oh that be me :D

Great. Now I want some fresh McD's fries. It will catch up to him, but probably not yet. Some people need to only eat healthful foods every day. Some people can cheat no problem.

Yes, you are right. Eat or drink whatever you want. Your lifespan and years of good health will be all the same. All food is the same, and diet has no effect on an athlete's performance. Thanks for clearing that up.

We are to the point of deciding if he can play or not based on the fact that he likes McDonalds? We are discussing an assumption of a players eating habits? Ludicrous if you ask me. I am not qualified to tell him what his diet should be. No one here is. Damn the off season. Unless you have particular information on his dietary intake and are qualified to determine that it is derogatory to his ability to perform at the required level, your sarcastic retort is unfounded and completely worthless. You just tried to put words in my mouth.

Maybe some Gm's around the league will eventually get it, I believe it is a very positive variable in evaluating talent accurately, that is, how a projected professional athlete, or a current one, have the intelligence to understand the concept, as it relates to their performance??..There is so much data to make my case.

we're just talking about a subject, and what we've heard and seen, we've heard that he's a junk food junkie, and we've seen the body deteriote , along with his game..maybe he gets it now, keep your mouth shut, fine tune your body, and let the talent take over, I think he's gonna have a good year because I at least know he's been working out, and with his talent, he could rebound.

I'll go as far as to say that Chads mission for Hard Knocks will be to show the country a work ethic to change some perception.

Next on : Talking with the Stars

A look at the dietary intake of Michael Jordan, Dan Marino, Don Shula and kicker Scott Norwood. You may be surprised at what we have uncovered. Did Norwood's infamous kick sail wide right because of too much veggies on his subway sub, or was it the chicken strips from Chick Fil A. What we found out when we return.

Liking the effort Ocho is demonstrating, but someone please send him the DVD titled "Food, Inc." so he can stop the daily Mcd's poisonous beef. (fact, watch Food, Inc. if you ave any doubts.

Back on topic, Ocho is a solid signing, may lack a step from younger years, but his experience factor could prove invaluable to the other WR's.

You got the title wrong.. it's called Eating with the Stars. Although Carls Jr just called and wants the first commercial in every break.

Now then for me? Fast food.. if I have it more than twice a week I'm really disappointed with myself. Coffee? nope... No caffeine at all... and no my name isn't John Beck.

It's all about quantity. If he's working out like a fiend, one Big Mac a day won't make a difference. The body can process it. If he's pigging out like Vernon Carey, then it's a different story.

As I recall from the Bengals Hard Knocks, he ate their breakfasts quite often, especially the pancakes. The maple syrup they supply is about as close to real maple as the gravel in your driveway. It just pisses me off how the food manufacturers in this country are allowed to be so deceptive in food labeling. That crap they sell and call maple syrup is mostly made up of high fructose corn syrup, the absolute worst "food" anyone can put in their body. Check some labels the next time you shop for groceries and see how hard it is to avoid that crap. Sadly, real actual maple syrup, like from Vermont, is like buying gold when it comes to price. Thing is, a pro athlete like Chad can afford to eat all the best foods and have his own personal chef prepare them for him. And...the cost could be a tax write off for him. Anyone who thinks it doesn't matter is seriously deluded IMO. Some folks here get it. DJ gets it for sure, and that doesn't surprise me. He's more anal than I am about the whole fitness/nutrition/training matrix. Luv ya DJ :)
I still go back to the sign on the wall at my gym: "You can't out train a bad diet."

    The Food Industry is nasty.

    Watch Food Inc.

That said I still eat it. It's just nasty. When i'm a millionaire I'll have a personal chef cook me only fresh farm to table ingredients every day. Until then, I gotta eat that ish!

I sure have. Well I don't train, never really excercised in my life. Just work hard and play hard and the extra fat/sugar doesn't hurt you. That's why my glucose free, all organic nerd friends hate on me so much when i cram fried chicken and dr. pepper in their faces all day. Get to work Fatties !

Ronnie brown and Vernon carey, your most recent 1 st round dolphin busts who, if taken care of their bodies, and understood nutrition, would be in their prime, and contributing to our football team, their lack of intelligence and passion has affected our teams immediate future...This problem is an epidemic in professional football..whoever gets and stays ahead of the curve, will be way ahead in terms of team success..

I mean think about it, doesn't it piss you off that your team is missing two very high first round draft picks from the equation because they were either to lazy or to dumb to get it.

It's about body composition and understanding that what you do have, can become more explosive if the ratio is good, every player can improve their talents just by pursuing their perfect body, if they don't, their just robbing themselves, their employers, and us fans..

Their is such a direct correlation between proper training relative to performance, endurance, and longevity, yet people continue to ignore, and waste millions of dollars in their evals.

Just wanna be clear that I am not judging on people who do not make their living by the performance of their body, for those that do make their livelihood from what their body can do, and don't train using cutting edge principles and technique, I have no respect for, zero.

You are definitely on to something here. Really it is about all of us , not just 85. Bloomburg wants to limit the size of soda's to 16oz, he should outlaw 90% of the crap they call food, and force these manufactures to call things for what they really are. Reminds me of the "Unlimited" cell service I got that is slower then dirt once I pass 2gigs. they told me , "well you know technically it is unlimited". Doesn't matter that I can not watch video's or download a picture unless I am willing to wait 27 minutes. What the hell, the politicians do it....why not the manufacturers also? I would love to see people start to demand the truth and fry the ones who try to bend it.

No matter how good you think you are, with a more healthy diet you'd be even better. Just keep gulping down those large corn syrup laden sodas and eating that deep fried chicken loaded with trans fats. It WILL catch up with you some day.
