Sorry for the delay guys. This is a list of names that I have for the GM Keeper League. If your name is on it please post whether or not you would still like to play. Please remember that it is not going to be as long as the regular GM but we do need dedicated GM's as it will be hard to find replacements. Also accommodations will be made if you go on Vacation or won't be around for awhile. If Your name is not on this list and you do wanna play please feel free to post saying so. The League will not start off with a Fantasy draft. (If there is an overwhelming number of people who do want one please feel free to speak your mind). Talked to Griddles aka GridIronKing and we came up with a Team draft to start off. The order which people select their team will random when i get the final names of the people playing. After the Team selection their will be a few teams not selected so we will then have a Fantasy Draft with the remaining players from those teams. Who ever gets to pick their team last will get first selection in that draft and who ever got to pick their team first will get last pick. When you check in Please vote whether you would prefer the Fantasy draft to be a Snake draft or not. If anyone has any questions, concerns, or Suggestions please feel free to ask in this thread or via PM. Thanks Players signed up for Keeper league 1. Skeet84 *INTERESTED* 2. Sick *NOT INTERESTED* 3. Well I'm in... would prefer the full draft pool though, rather than picking from existing teams. Do you have any more details on the rules?
I gotta drop out. With the new born and everything, I could do it, but not very well or with much time into it. Sorry
Well we don't have all the rules set as of now. We are pretty much going to keep most of the rules as the Regular GM league and change rules were ever we feel they should be changed. The main thing is going to be with new contracts and cuts. If you cut a player before free agency 25% of his salary counts towards your cap for every year remaining. Example- You have player Z signed for 3 yrs 1 mil per year (3yrs worth 3mil) and you cut him after the first year before the following yrs free agency. You would have two yrs of 250,000 worth of dead cap you can't use. If you cut a player after Free Agency has begun then you will be responsible for 50% of that players contract every year he has remaining. Free Agency will be different because you will now be able to offer multiple yr contracts. There will be a small group of people involved with selecting which contract a player would prefer. No one can vote for which contract a player would want if they have offered that player a contract. We will try to consider everything we know in real life to help us with this decision. Example - Peyton Manning is a free agent and has expressed that he doesn't really want a 1 yr deal and Team X offered 1 yr 15 mil while Team Y offered 2 yr 26 million. We might be more inclined to take Team Y's offer. If no info from the real player is available we just vote for what contract would benefit that player more. If anyone does have any suggestions please feel free to voice your opinions. This is what this league is. Paul a lot of people did like the idea of a complete Fantasy draft but I just think it would be entirely to long and difficult to do a 53 round draft. The way we have it planned every team will pretty much have a structured team and be able to move a long the from there.
I am on the fence with this as of now, but I should have a decision soonish. That being said, I have a couple questions. 1.) Being that it is a keeper league, how does that work out? Are we going to use this league for years to come? How long do you plan on playing? -As a side note, how would we be crowing winners? Would it be based off of Madden or voting or number of Pro Bowl players in real life? Also how would you determine the draft order for the 2013 draft? 2.) "After the Team selection their will be a few teams not selected so we will then have a Fantasy Draft with the remaining players from those teams. Who ever gets to pick their team last will get first selection in that draft and who ever got to pick their team first will get last pick." I now doing a draft would take forever, but I honestly think it would be a lot more fun than doing this. If there are less people doing it, there could be a pick every 30 minutes or so, that way we could do 2 or 3 rounds a day. Or just all work out a day that works for everyone and do it all in one day.
Answers to 1st question in bold. Answer to 2 Below Doing a fantasy draft and selecting 53 players per team would take an insane amount of time. I would calculate somewhere around a month at least. Not everyone is in the same timezone, country, work hrs, family, and other responsibilities. Getting the first few rounds done would be quick but when you start in getting into later rounds its going to be hard. Plus not everyone would necessarily have the knowledge to pick a 53 man team. After we pick teams there will still be a fantasy draft that should be fun for everyone. I think that's the best of both worlds.
I guess you're playing then......And I'm in. I'm on the fence about the fantasy draft. it would be fun but I agree with Skeet that it would be a painstakingly long process. One question, are using NFL teams or are picking teams and then re-naming/relocating them to whatever/wherever we want?
I'm in...I would be down for a full fantasy draft or regular way. One suggestion I might have for voting is we play a real 17 week nfl schedule and each week we vote on who would win the matchup. We would have standings and playoffs etc. If we pick regular teams with the leftover teams has a fantasy draft I think it should be fixed, not snake. Someone with the cardinal needs more of an advantage vs whoever gets the patriots.
Two suggestions... instead of a 53 player draft, which I do agree would take too long, why not shorten it? 22 rounds instead? You can either fill out a full starting lineup with your draft, or load up on particular positions, choice is up to each GM at that point. Second, Once the draft is over, you can then pick from existing teams in full. So it would be a team draft. This way you can easily fill out the remaining 53 players. In essence you have a priority draft by player... lasting 22 rounds... then you pick your teams. Depending on which players your team has left, choose wisely. That would make for an interesting dynamic. If we go with 24 GM's (it appears that will be the case), you'll have 8 teams not picked at the end of this two part process. That pool of players (as well as any other players not selected, since we have 90 players per NFL team right now) would then be opened up to free agency. Thoughts? As for picking the winner each year, I like the notion mentioned earlier of Pro Bowl counts determining the winner. It's a fair way to do it. It's quick and easy. Whoever has the most pro bowlers wins each year, if there's a tie, it goes to vote.
Im not sure I agree with the pro bowlers to pick the winner. Pro bowl is such a popularity contest and never really choose the best players.
I don't have an answer for how to pick winners, but I agree with UCF. Not a fan of using probowlers. I would rather use some kind of scoring system, not unlike, but not exactly like fantasy football. It wouldn't be perfect either, but I really don't know of a good way to keep track winners.
So if we only get like 18 players we have 18 teams to choose from and the remaining teams those players are untouchable?
I am will mark you down as playing Right now is that we would be selecting NFL teams and using them. However if everyone wants to select a City and create a team we could do that. I don't really want a mix tho !st part I thought of and I do like however the problem is keeping everyone involved. Griddles has already said that getting everyone together to do that during the season is very difficult. Doing that would depend on us. 2nd part I totally agree Alright. If we get enough people to start there will be a expansion draft in following years
Paul I personally am not a fan of that idea of using a fantasy draft then picking teams. However its up to the entire league not me and I would to hear everyone's opinions. Picking Pro Bowl players to decide winners will not happen.
I suppose I'm in. And I think what should be done is get at least 16 "owners/gms" and we each pick 2 teams and combine them however we see fit (to fit under the cap). The person who picks their 1st team 1st picks their 2nd team last. I also think we should get teams as they are now (including future owned/owed draft picks), so the 1st draft would actually be 2013.
I like Stitches idea of combining two teams. Then you could really get overly creative and combine the names. For example.. Dolphins and Cowboys... Dolboys.
At this point we are definitively going to need you. Everyone please feel free to message other people you think would like to join and be good for the league
Hello all. I was referred by Paul 13. If that he's actually Paul 13 on this site. I am from Stadium Rejects. I swear I am not a Patriots fan nor do I endorse anything related to "Brakos". I was throwing my hat in the "interested in joining" bin.
I guess we could call back to back the family friendly version of one of her favourite activities. And yes, Paul is Paul here, but we usually just call him "That arrogant douche"
