I know what you mean. I don't like the way it's playing out either. But, it's to be expected when a very abrasive FO moves in. The long time players, who have been comfortable for years in their roles on and off the field, suddenly aren't so comfortable anymore. Yeah, it sux now, and it's a team distraction, but once Parcells and Ireland have THEIR children all in place, it will be a very smooth running ship with little disractions if any. The crew will all live in fear, but fear is a great motivator
Let's hope. This is all very confusing to me right now. Of course we don't know what happened behind the scenes, but the way the coach announced it makes me feel they've known all along they weren't going to keep JT. Why wait until now? Were we really shopping him and couldn't get what we thought he was worth? Can we get any value for him now, at this time? Lots of questions - not many answers. The timing is just very mysterious and unexplained.
i'm surprised it didn't happen before, the phins drafted two DE's in the second and third rounds. they must have had a hint on what was going down.
It has been clear that the Trifecta wanted to trade JT for many months now. They fuxked this whole thing up by asking way to much for him before the draft. I put this mostly on them, instead of reaching out to the best player we have, they made a point of dissing him. The NFL wanted JT on Dancing with the Stars to improve their image. And JT agreed to do it before Parcells and company came on. The aftershow interveiws are part of being on the show, it was not him trying to make any sort of statement. No one has more class then JT and all he has seen is having his best friend (ZT) released and 3 defensive ends drafted. I think the team wants JT in traning camp so they can trade him at the beginning of the season. He does not owe us a dann thing. And traning camp is still two months away so I see this as a power play by the team. It is a pissing match that should have never came to this. I think Ethan said it well in this story. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sp...,5301967.column Do Dolphins' fans really need more ugly? This Jason Taylor situation was already inside-ugly, with the sides dancing awkwardly behind the scenes for months, trying to preserve their images and leverage. Wednesday, it became outside-ugly. Bill Parcells' hand-picked Dolphins coach, Tony Sparano, made it that way by announcing that the six-time Pro Bowl defensive end, in addition to missing the day's voluntary workout and the upcoming minicamp, would also miss training camp. Sparano qualified the training camp forecast by saying that was his belief "right now." Right now, there was really no need to announce that, regardless of what "information" Sparano claimed to possess about Taylor's intentions. It is known that Taylor would prefer to be traded to a contender, but in plenty of recent public interviews, he hasn't announced anything close to a training-camp boycott. He was in New York on Wednesday, after flying overnight on a private jet from Los Angeles with the other Dancing with the Stars finalists to appear on Good Morning America and Regis and Kelly. That training camp? It starts in two months. It was typical Parcells power ploy -- a show of who's boss. It was self-defeating, because friction only erodes Taylor's trade value further. It was an organization, losing patience after losing public relations ground, attempting to paint an adversary as negatively as possible. It was sad the former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and reigning NFL Man of the Year should become such an adversary. It was another disappointment for Dolphins fans who have suffered through a six-year playoff drought and a 1-15 season. Rather than groping for a first-round pick before a pressure point like April's NFL Draft, it should have taken the best package available, offered warm goodbyes and moved on. The Dolphins would have received at least one more prospect to develop during the 2008 season. By sending him to a contender, they would have temporarily ended their association with Taylor harmoniously, preserving his role as a franchise ambassador long after he willingly retired. Now they're left to play hardball with him, while the friction erodes their leverage and a public-relations nightmare unfolds: the prospect of a verbal battle, protracted holdout and perhaps even a semi-forced retirement. This hardball is an ugly game. Don't expect winners. Just another black eye.
I'll be honest here, I really love that the Dolphin's site on NFL.com posts the complete player and coach interviews. I much prefer to hear and see what the coaches and players actually say than read how the local sports media 'interpret' and 'spin' everything afterwards.
We're on the same page on this Mary. It's all played out very convienently to me, on the management end. I guess it's just another wait and never find out the truth issue.
I won't believe anything I "hear" until JT himself says it, not in a blog, not in a news story, but from his own mouth on tv. I may be nieve but I don't want to believe he's being a jerk, just wanting what's best for his future..
