I didn't see it posted anywhere but I wanted to share this with everyone. Check it out. I think it is worth the read.
Hmm, I hope the players know anywhere they go on the net will be viewable to the Dolphins Staff..jus sayin'...
It's a good thing that Coach Red Beaulieu is retired. He had his special green playbook that he stole from Mr Coach Klein. I don't think either one would adapt too well to this modern technology.
Not very familiar with IPads, or what kind of copy protection the digital playbooks will be installed with, and its not like the old photocopied binders were ever risk free from falling into enemy hands, but unless its safeguarded with at least the basic DRM copy protection, it would seem almost negligent to hand over so much comprehensive insight, to all 90 players, who each may, or may not fully understand just how easily sensitive data can be compromised.
I would assume they realize the risks and took the proper precautions... And I would assume that there is some sort of lock on their account that doesn't allow them to copy stuff or whatever. If they lose the iPad, it's a pretty big fine too. I don't think the risk is any bigger than the traditional paper playbook.
I too, expect they have taken the proper precautions, and while the risks are likely the same, it would be interesting to know if the team film they're referring to, will be stored on these IPads, or accessible through stream.
I'm sure there is some file level encryption that is implemented on the iPad at the very least. But encryption means little without proper authentication measures. Hopefully there is some sort of two-factor authentication required to access the iPad. If not, at the very very least require 13+ character passwords. Resources would be a lot of safer if they weren't stored on the iPad actually but accessed via VPN. That would make things a bit easier for the team to manage since compromise of an iPad wouldn't necessarily mean a compromise of the information if the majority of it wasn't stored locally. Dolphins are probably also able to send a poison pill to the device. Then again, I don't think people are going to try and compromise an iPad. If there haven't been reports on teams internal networks being attacked regularly attempting to gain access to playbooks, stats, injury information than I doubt there is a group of people looking to hack into ipads. Mainly because breaking into an iPad isn't going to get you suspended, you are going to Federal prison. It's simply not really worth it I would think.
the thing is if you somehow lose it, you can easily lock or delete the stuff that is on the iPad from a pc with a prgramm called "iPhone-Search" no danger of giving away sensitive data
I'm sure the entire FO staff and coaching staff did not think of the security issues at all. I'm sure they found a stack of iPads, an intern said they had an idea, then poof, they changed what they've been doing for near 50 years on a chance and a whim without another thought or care.
Hahah! Very few things on here I can talk about with any level of expertise. I saw my chance and took it!
Since they're outfitted with ActiveSync, the team can execute a remote wipe of the iPad from anywhere, as long as it's connected to the net. Not sure if the team would equip each device a data plan. That's expensive and ripe for abuse. No idea how they got it locked down. I know the Buccaneers typically push out their updates on on team headquarters' LAN. Still good to see the team embracing technology. - sent from my Android using Tapatalk 2 -
Not sure if this has been posted - http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...k-not-internet-tomfoolery-045255720--nfl.html Basically players are going to get huge fines if they visit unauthorized websites using their ipads. Not that big a deal, just figured I'd share since it's on Yahoo front page.
