That apron can only be exceeded by resigning a bird free agent or taxpayers exception (or veterans minimum). Considering they've done both of those already, it's essentially a hard cap for Brooklyn.

if poop all over Ray Allen, means that we crap our pants everytime he played against us, then yeah.

Ask any Heat fan...there is not a player in the NBA that we feared more than Ray Allen. In the playoffs alone, he has hit 4 (COUNT THEM) FOUR game tying threes vs. the Heat. No more I guess. LOL!

Of all the Heat killers, Ray Allen might be the king of them.

But it's not essentially a hard cap. A hard cap would mean they can't go over it at all. Not with exceptions. Not with league minimum salaries. No 10 day contracts. Not in any way. But they can, so it's not essentially a hard cap. They will still be able to fill out the roster, granted with scrubby D-league caliber players for the league minimum. They wouldn't be able to field a complete team with an actual hard cap.

Maybe I'm just reading your posts wrong, but it seems you're saying it would be impossible to get Dwight because they can't exceed that apron, which isn't true.

You're obviously exaggerating if you say Heat fans fear Ray over any other player. Its ok man, you can admit he should be a great addition and the threat from downtown that Miller and Chalmers have no consistently been without exaggerating....its ok. ray is a great great addition.

A player cannot be acquired by trade if said players salary puts them over that apron. In the previous CBA, you'd remedy that by waiting for that contract to expire and then acquiring him via sign and trade. This was possible because in the previous CBA, players Bird rights transferred to the new team, which allowed that new team to exceed the cap. However in the new CBA, a S&T acts as a straight free agent signing, meaning their Bird rights don't transfer to the new team, making it impossible to exceed that apron.

If Brooklyn wants to acquire Dwight, they have to include Gerald Wallace into the trade, which gets them below the apron.

Except that it's not. They can land Dwight Howard no problems as long as the pieces they trade are within 125%, plus $100,000 of Howard's salary. Using Howard's salary, that number would be at least 15,308,960 in salary going back to the Magic.

This post explains the confusion I think. The Sign and Trade rule doesn't go into effect until next offseason.

I for one pretty much expected every shot Ray took to go in, I never thought that way with any other player, so yea I'd say he was the player I feared the most.

I'm also going to enjoy watching him run his defender into 8 different screens every possession. He's amazing off the ball.

I suck :pity:. Forgot about that traded player exception.

Even so, that trade cannot be completed without Gerald Wallace, which was my original point.

Thats just ridiculous. Ray is the freakng man. We've all been huge fans of his for years. the guys is a class act, is as consistent as it gets, and is the greatest shooter ever. That being said, if you say he alone is the most feared you've faced is just crazy. Sure in certain situations you fear he hits a shot here and there, but lets not act like going into those big games he was the guy you most feared out of everyone in the league. If he is then you have your bball hierarchy off. BTW this comes from a huge Ray supporter...

If the part in bold is true then you should know that it is far from rediculous! Ray Allen has been a Heat killer just check the record books. I think Rose is an outstanding player. He can flat out take over a game. But Rose really does not have any help. So yeah, as a Celtic, and with their cast of players, I'd much rather see Rose (by a fraction) get a chance at a game winning shot than Allen. Certain situations are exactly why......

Traded Player Exceptions can only be used in single player trades so I don't think the Nets will get to use it in a Howard trade. As for Gerald Wallace, as I said, the Sign and Trade rule doesn't go into effect until next offseason. And even then, it's the team that receives the sign and trade players that can't be over the apron, not the team trading said player.

According to this, it can be used in multiplayer deals. Aggregation of Non-Simultaneous Traded Player Exception (no that's not made up). What a backwards *** league.

Allen is definitely feared but IMO Rondo is making a case for himself as the Heat killer of the new generation. We simply cant defend that man.

You're right. I guess what I meant to say is they can only use Non-Simultaneous TPE in single player trades. Simultaneous TPE can be used in multiplayer trades. Simultaneous TPE is the 125% + $100k I alluded to earlier. And they can't combine the 2 exceptions either. So no using the Non-Simultaneous TPE's they got from Mehmet Okur and Shawne Williams in a Dwight trade since they can't combine it with the 125% + 100k Simultaneous TPE. And since they can't use it in multiplayer trades, obviously the 3 million Non-Simultaneous TPE they got for Shawne Williams doesn't cover Dwight's 19.26 million salary.

    I hope that made sense.

Pretty low, IMO. I don't think the rest of the league is too eager to help out the Heat.

Then again, the other 31 NFL teams keep giving sweetheart deals to the Patriots.
