To play zero defense you'd have to just stand at the other end of the court and not be a factor at all. Thats why it is a gross exaggeration.

Lin is an awful contract. Let's not sit here and act like it's not. He played a month of good basketball for a PG dependent coach like D'Antoni. He won't replicate the same success with Woodson and anyone who doesn't already think it's an awful deal will soon enough.

    1-11 with 8 TO's vs. the Heat.
    5-18 with 6 TO's vs the 76ers
    4-17 with 2 TO's vs the 76ers.
    4-11 with 3 TO's vs the Bulls.
    6-16 with 6 TO's vs the Celtics.

Jeremy Lin is absolutely useless vs. teams that actually play defense on point guards. Jeremy Lin is too easy for top notch defenders like Jrue Holiday who can easily force him to go left, where he's useless. He's probably the most turnover prone player in the league regardless of who he's playing. And after a fluke February, he was pretty bad in March, including the 6 game losing streak that god D'Antoni fired.

Hey R&R..congrats on getting Dorrell Wright.

Guy is a really good kid, plays really good on the ball defense and is a deadly streak shooter. You got a solid rotation player.

Carmelo isnt the problem. The rest of the team beyond he Tyson and Shumpert is. The pieces dont fit. They need another player who can create their own shot. The series vs the Heat showed everything you need to see. Triple Carmelo and dare someone else to hit a shot. Granted no Lin, Amare was banged up for the final game, and no Shumpert but not sure it ultimately would have won the knicks anything more then the 1 game they won. They have the go to guy, now he just needs help...looking at you amare. :(

This is a bail me out call by Colangelo because he thought he was going to knock the Knicks out of the Nash sweepstakes by signing Fields to that ridiculous deal. Now that he got played he will look foolish as hell for bidding that much on a player no one else wants. The Knicks should tell him to stick it but I fully expect them to match cause Dolan is a dummy.

The Knicks have said they'll probably take the full 3 days. They should tell Toronto we'll match it if you give us a 2015 1st for Dan Gadzuric. Since the NYK are in Luxury Tax hell those years anyway, it wouldnt matter a lot cap wise.

This is grossly untrue. Not saying hes a great defensive player but hes average. And when he actually makes the concerted effort he should make hes borderline good.

He wasn't bad in March. He shot poorly but his assist numbers were respectable and his turnover rate went down. And that's with only playing half the month healthy.

Everything you need to know about the Knicks can be summed up thus: the Heat beat them by putting their second best defender on Steve Novak.

What series were you watching that Carmelo was triple teamed on any sort of consistent basis?

This is right. Melo was fronted and guarded one on one in 4 of the 5 games. In Game 5, the Heat showed some doubles for a brief stretch.

I'd much rather get a coach before anybody else goes anywhere. Since the Brooklyn thing isn't going to work, let's get that done and then send the pouting Dwightmare someplace else.

A player can learn to play better going to the left. It takes practise and dedication which I'm sure Lin has. Lin will improve...even Derek Zoolander learned to turn left.

edit: having said that though. he's not worth $28M.

    LOL.

I think if Melo is motivated he can be a decent defender, I personally just believe that motivation is his biggest problem. I also was hoping Landry would go to Toronto... would be nice if the Raptors put together a solid squad north of the border.

And in every one of those 4 games the Heat had help coming from the baseline. If he was simply fronted, lobbing over the top would have been no problem.

well...duh Boik. LOL. Nobody Fronts without rim help. But that's basic defense. That is not a double.

and when you front, it is coupled with simultaneous ball pressure, so it is not as easy as just "lobbing it over the top."

Well thats 2 men committed to playing defense against 1 player. Thats a double team. Thats basic math. :)

Dallas gets Collison and Dahntay Jones for Ian Mahimi in a S&T. Indiana now pursuing DJ Augustin according to Woj.

No. I know you are a Knicks fan, and you went almost 12 years without it, but it's called "Defense". A double is when two players guard the ball.

The Heat actually NEVER doubled the ball in that series.

Yea I like him for 1 year deal where we gave up Edin Bavcic, the original Unibrow, for him. Solid player. I guess this, and drafting Harkless means Iguodala is gone.

I've surprisingly liked our offseason so far. Nick Young for a one year deal isn't. bad No worse than Lou Williams at least, but fills more of a need with his spot up shooting. I like Moultrie. A terrific athlete and rebounder. Something we need. I like Harkless. Big, athletic SF with tons of defensive potential. I don't think the pick makes much sense though. Unless Iguodala gets traded, then I like the pick a lot more. He was also the BPA at that pick imo. Pissed me off though that Henson got drafted the pick before us by a team that just drafted pretty much the same exact player, on the court, and in the measurements, in Larry Sanders. Desperately need that type of shot blocking in the paint. I don't mind cutting Brand, and certainly don't mind letting Lou walk. Liked re-signing Lavoy Allen. His stifling defense on Garnett was huge for us in that series.

Only move I really don't like is signing Hawes to a 2 year deal. The **** is up with that. I wouldn't of minded bringing him back on a 2 year deal. He played good last year before the injury and could be a solid backup, but 2 years? SMH.

Well Davis isnt under contract anymore so we cant do that.

What we could do is Amare and 2 future firsts for Love
Lin, Fields, Novak for Chris Paul.

    CP3-Shumpert-Melo-Love-Tyson
    Bench: Kidd/JR/Jeffries/Camby

    Do it Grunie!

Eh you're flat out wrong. If a second player is coming to guard the baseline because the first guy has to front the player hes guarding that by definition is a double team. Youve committed two defenders to guard 1 player.

Theres a lot of stupid GM's. Dont put it past any of them. Even in a bad year, Amare gave the Knicks 18 and 8 every night. Thats not Elton Brand bad or Grant Hill injury prone on a max deal. Thats tradeable even if its not insurable. And if Love is serious about his threat to leave if the Wolves dont get better, its actually better then what a lot of teams could offer. Not saying it would happen, I just dont put the stupidity level of NBA GM's on that much of a pedastal to say no it wouldnt. For as long as Billy King, Daryl Morrey, and a few others have the keys to their franchises I would bet money myself, Section, Fin-o (dont laugh, his body of work in the GM League is damn good) and a few others could run a team better and acquire better talent.

His turnover rate was actually worse, but not by much. And shooting .407 from the field on 11.5 shots a game is most certainly bad. Those are the exact same numbers as J.R. Smith, and he's terrible. Obviously Lin brings a little more to the table so he's not terrible by any means, but March was certainly a bad month.

Personally, I think we are stacking contracts to try and make the big moves like that. This teams not getting past Miami with what they have. They have to know this or theyre blinder and dumber then I ever gave them credit for being. Theyre probably not getting past a healthy Bulls team either. The Pacers, Celtics, Hawks and Sixers are right there with us. Stack contracts that are moveable and acquire pieces that mean something. The Lakers did it with Gasol, the Nets did it with Joe Johnson (even though Desides hates him lol)....makes sense.

But they're not stacking contracts that are moveable. That's the problem. Certainly not moveable for pieces that are getting you past the Bulls or Heat. Nobody wants Amare. Nobody wants Chandler at that salary. Nobody wants Jeremy Lin except the Rockets, who don't have any big pieces to give the Knicks anyways. They may be able to trade Melo, but certainly not for a big piece. The only thing teams like the Knicks and 76ers can do is stay a playoff team and hope a Superstar feels they're the missing piece for a championship squad and sign in Free Agency, or preferably, tear it all down and start from scratch. Obviously the Knicks aren't getting any stars in Free Agency with their cap situation.

    No.

If that were true, every single player that catches it in the elbow and faces up is double teamed.

So again...no. That isn't a double team. That's help defense. The main principle of every single defensive system in the NBA.

Just a fact. The Heat DO NOT double. They may trap, but NEVER double.
