We will have hours to talk about who we draft next Spring, but what about now. Who thinks we beat the Pats. I know a lot of guys dont care about the perfect record and how important it was to win this year, but wouldn't it be great to beat the Pats as well, and ruin what could be their perfect season too. That is just as important to me, if not you lot.

So, my question is , how do we beat them. I will accept comic answers as well as serious ones :001_rolleyes:

    On the serious side:

    1) They have to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
    2) On Defense, they have to try to confuse Brady with reads at the line and put ALOT of pressure on him and hope that he makes lots of mistakes.
    3) On Offense, RUN RUN RUN and control the clock and commit 0 turnovers.
    4) On Special Teams, break a few long returns for a TD or set up good field position.

    On the comic side:

    1) Kidnap Tom Brady so he does not make it to the game.
    2) Send a spy to all player and coaches meeting on the Patriots camp and videotape everything.
    3) Call CIA, NSA, Secret Service for help.
    4) Maybe we can get help from Chris Collinsworth too, because he seems to be in LOVE with the Patriots.

Start fast and stay in the game all thew way till the end.

The defense will have to come up with big plays like an Int for a T.D The D-line has to get pressure on Brady like philly and Baltimore did.

Defense needs to get multiple sacks especially on third downs.

Offensively, committing no turnovers alone will keep the game closer than most expect. They simply have to make big plays that get chunks of yardage at a time. Spread the ball around and get it into the hands of Booker & Ginn.

I think it's possible especially after seeing teams like Philadelphia and Baltimore hang with them.

I think if the weather is iffy and we are doing everything during the week to prepare for them it should be a great game. I read in an interview with Brady that the Dolphins give him the most trouble.

Keep in mind we were the last team to beat New England. 21-0 I believe.

We wipe Brady out in the first series, and that makes it a close game. It is the Pats so I dont see much opposition from our board,
    if it happens.

I would be tempted to play dirty this one game, and really go for it, late hits on the QB and all that, rough up Randy Moss. Anything to give us an edge. This is our game of the season. **** if we ever needed the D of 72 It is now.

Hope for bad, but not horrible, weather. Feely is good in bad weather, and the Patriots have been proven to slow down when conditions aren't great.

Then again, they'll probably just stuff Maroney down our throats.

I think we are capable of stopping Maroney, in whatever weather. Not so sure about Brady and Moss

I'll be happy if we beat them 23 --17

  12. Colorado Dolfan

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

If we can run on them, do so... If not, we need to take a page from the Pats book and use the short passing game as our running game. Match up LoBook and Camarillo with their LB corps and see what they can do.

Ginn needs to go deep early. If we can make them fear the deep ball, it will be that much easier to get the short yardage.

Cleo needs to not make dumb mistakes. Hell, the whole team needs to not make dumb mistakes...

We need to hit Moss hard at the line of scrimmage to get his timing off. Get him frustrated and he tends to not work as hard.

Pressure Brady constantly. Mix up the blitz packages. Move JT around. Never let them know exactly where you're going to hit them from...

Most importantly: Pray for a miracle...

This, like any game, is winnable. Comes down to which team wants it more. Does NE want to go undefeated more than Miami wants to protect the long-standing record of the '72 'Phins? Only time will tell.

First let me reiterate that I would never wish injury upon anyone.

I think if we pressure Brady enough and put big hit after big hit on him that they will take him out of the game to avoid injury. Like they did last year.

Then we have a very real chance.

If you are talking regular season then that is correct. If not it was the Colts that were the last to beat the Pats.

the only way to beat the patriots, IMO, is by playing 3 down-lineman, 1 LB, and 7 DBs

having maroney run it down our throats is prob the only way we can win. if you watched the jets game, brady started pressing the issue, and forcing some balls to moss. they can get frustrated if you make them run, even if they are running successfully

    "ALLLRIGGGHTTT MIAMI"

As we win 42-17 and then I go into a drunken coma for a week in total shock :D

Let's go with a twist on a model that has already been provided.

Play them tough with Man over the top coverage, Put pressure on Brady, Take what they give you underneath on offiense, have a lead late into the 4th quarter. Then in a 4th and short situation when Pats have to convert or lose the game............

.......Dont call time out at the snap, seemingly after your team has stopped them which would have created a turnover on downs.!!!!!!!

    aggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh! Maddening!

In all seriousness . . . we just don't have the talent to compete with the Pats on paper.

But thats why we playyyyy the game.

    To win:

Pressure, Pressure, Pressure . . . I go back to "Remember the Titans" when the Defensive Coach says "I don't want them to get another yard" . . . "U blitz all night" . . . I mean I know we can't blitz the whole game, but we need to create pressure . . . . all those 6 DB sets we had when Troy Smith was picking us apart is just unacceptable with the Patriots. Brady needs to hit the ground ALOT for us to even think about having a chance.

We need to hope for bad weather . . . bad enough to slow down their passing game, we need something to level out the talent, and weather can do it.

Special Teams . . . . we can't give Hobbs any big returns, we need to hit our FG's and for the love of god Feely, take a page from the Mare book and kick them out of the endzone . . . starting the Pats at the 40 yard line is just unimaginable. What does it say about Keith Armstrongs special teams unit that we are satisfied with kicking it out of bounds.

We can score on their offense, I know we can . . . but it all starts with stopping their offense . . . I'm not sure if we can, but heyyyyy . . . I will be at the bar with a few friends hoping they can.
