So if you want to play that card after you already attempted to play the money card then why doesnt Dolan have the right to be bitter when the facts are that Lin didnt show loyalty either knowing that the deal put the Knicks in a tight spot? Lin showed no loyalty. If my understanding is correct the most the Knicks could have offered is 4 years and 24M with their early bird rights. So 1 more year and 1M less. If Lin really wanted to be in NY he wouldnt have signed a poison pill contract.
Or he knows he may not pan out and this is his one chance to collect. There is no loyalty in sports anymore unless you have a STRONG bond to your team for some reason.
Not signing Lin is fine. He could flame out. Pretending Felton has the same potential to be good at this point is silly though.
@Chris_Broussard: Sources confirm @JRudolphSports report that Dwight Howard is ready to join Lakers. If traded to LA DH will re-sign long-term with team All over Twitter.
Damn thats annoying. Seems the Lakers always get the games best big man. Its crazy.....I really hope someone else gets aggressive and keeps him from LA
I just want Houston to be the third team involved. Parsons, Lamb and picks back would be the best package we could get. I would rather not have Bynum even though I think he's a very good player.
In 3 years Lin will be a FA, and as the roster currently stands for the Knicks, at that time they won't have to pay 1.5-2x his salary in taxes either. If Lin proves good enough (which I find unlikely) the Knicks can offer a MAX deal (or $12M per, whatever), and potentionally get him back. And no I'm not suggesting fielding D-leaguers (I'm not the one who said they're going nowhere, you are), but it's idiotic to pay $50M+ for almost no results in return.
Let's be clear. If the Knicks wanted to keep Lin, then they were idiots, because they had him to themselves for 25 for 5 if they offered it. They let it get to the offer sheet period, and got screwed out of the player. I think it's the right move to let him go. But be warned that the opposite almost always happens to the Knicks, so Jeremy Lin will likely be league MVP next year.
I think the Knicks are just trying to save face to the fans that they TRIED SO HARD to keep Lin. I dont think they picked up Kidd and Felton to be 2nd and 3rd on the depth chart.
Guess that depends on what report you want to believe. Either way happy about the current Knicks roster as teams wont score over 90 very often in 2012-13.
I forgot, you have a "friend" who must of been in the room. You may be right you may be wrong but just STOP pretending you KNEW what the Knicks FO was thinking...it makes you look questionable as a fine NBA poster.
I am not pretending to know what the Knicks FO was thinking, I am just making a statement of fact. They signed that fat guy while the Rockets offer sheet was signed by Lin. So therefore, simple use of your brain deducts that they were not gonna match. it also helped that fat boy Felton "announced" that he was told that they would not match when they offered him a contract. PAY ATTENTION.
Celtics fans on RealGM convinced that the Heat are now chasing them in the East with the signing of Courtney Lee. Seriously how delusional can a fan base be?
Well if helping someone get their career get started after they were cut by a couple teams, some more then once, and then starting a world wide craze called Linsanity isnt forging a strong bond then I guess bonds dont exist. Bottom line is that Felton is a good player who put up the same stats over the final month last year (14&8) after he finally got in to playing shape and the situation in Portland became less toxic. Now Felton is in shape (no, not in sumo shape) and Id bet he has a better year then Lin by a long shot.
Yes..FACT. Kidd signed up for minutes, and Felton wanted a starting job both got 3.3 mil per. The Felton trade happened officially during the matching period. It was widely reported and then Felton himself said that Lin was not gonna be matched because the Knicks told him so. Anybody with a Brain can deduce this..then again.....
Nooooo..... They believe they are now the better team and we are chasing them. Thus the delusional comment.
There's a couple of them who are determined we are behind them. Another was saying this is the season where Rondo shows that he's the best plate in the NBA blah, blah, blah. I seriously believe they are the least acquainted with reality of all NBA fan bases.
I forget whether its because he was born there or naturalized there but I know its one of the two. Im like 99% sure he was born there.
Ray Felton is in shape and looking forward to shutting up everyones mouth lol.....hopefully thats a start to putting up 17 and 9 again just like last time here was in NY. http://www.theknicksblog.com/2012/0...to-this-year-to-shutting-up-everybodys-mouth/
Good luck to him, but not going to happen without Pringles to help inflate the stats of mediocre at best point guards.
Im just happy hes in shape. Without that theres no chance of anything happening. In shape, ready to play with a good supporting cast..who knows whats possible.
I wanted the 76ers to get him as a backup PG. I just don't think he's a starting caliber PG at all though imo.
