agreed, because the money per year is a push.....Bell/HanRam=20-22M, and Crawford is 20M....but it is the years....Miami will be paying CC's contract for 3 more years after HanRam's is done, and 2 more years after Bell is done....

So either Boston kicks in money for CC's contract OR that prospects name is Will Middlebrooks, or Barnes or Bradley....or maybe even another Major Leaguer...

I suspect that he contracts/money would be split pretty fairly. I don't think you'd see the Sox paying for all 3 contracts while the Marlins pay for nothing. The reason why the Sox would help to pay some of Crawford's (or any player's contract) is if they feel the players they're getting back are worth shipping their player out of town and paying him to play for another team.

If it makes sense for them they absolutely would do that.

Almost no chance the Sox would ship any of those prospects to Florida in that deal. Most likely the Marlins would get a B level or lower prospect.

Exactly that's why it isn't happening.....well from the prospect side....but they would have to kick in some loot then, even then if I were the Marlins I would want prospect/s....how bad do the Sox want to get rid of that contract?

Why would the Marlins need a top level prospect back in the deal though? Crawford is roughly the same star level player Hanley is and they're getting him for more years. They probably would be getting a back up or bench player prospect in a deal. Remember if this trade happens its as much of a salary dump for Florida as it is for the Red Sox.

They will dump salary yes, but add the same salary and MORE years in a guy that wont be in his prime....

he will be owed 40 million dollars at age 34, and 35....make any sense?

kick in 20M or kick in a prospect......(ha! I feel like we are the GM's, but we should stop cuz you know that is fun :tongue2:)

    what is your take BDH?

I would do that deal for the Sox all day and throw a prospect in. Maybe not the top 7 guys but Garin Cecchini, Ranaudo, Wilson, Workman, maybe Brentz. CC is already unmovable without getting fair value now, in 2 more years it will be ugly.

I would move prospects now for extra money to spend in 3 years.

Haha, it's mind boggling. He went 0-5 today with 5 more Ks.

Luckily for him, he's the top ranked safety out of HS. Or so I've read.

Yeah my guess is this will be his first and last season of pro baseball. What he's doing is mind blowingly impossible. I truly believe I could have done a better job then he did so far.

If all they throw is fastballs, I think I could have, as well. I've hit 85 many times at the cages.Hell, my 12 year old brother hit 85.

You'd have to think you'd at least be able to hit a 50 foot chopper to the 3rd baseman on a breaking pitch with a lucky excuse me swing at least once though in 37 ABs.

That bastard caught a HUGE break to with the ground rule double.....that thing hits the wall and kicks off and it is a inside the park home run......I looked at my buddy after they got out of it and said Sox are going to walk off.....just simply no way u give that team a break like that and they lose......

True.....but they will even out which will equal to the sox winning a lot of games soon....as I have been saying all year, them Sox aren't going anywhere.....won their last 5 of 7 since the break...soon the Balt, Oaks of the world will fade.....it is the time of year when the season starts to wear on the younginis....

He also leads Majors in Run Support per game..... Clay Buchholtz was 2nd before tonight. I think he may have dropped. Shame he could not get the W

Ross has been very good with the Sox, no doubt about it. I'd love to lock him up for a few more years as a RHH OF platoon. He's a perfect fit for Fenway in that role.

Buchholz looked very good last night too. Lester is really the one that needs to get back on track.

Good to see Pedroia back, hopefully the team can stay healthy for Ortiz to return.

Is Ross a FA after this season? Personally I'd like Atlanta to grab him to put in LF next season so that they can move Prado to third to take Chipper's spot. I heard somewhere that he had interest in the Braves last offseason.

Maybe its time to do something with Jon Lester. I don't know whether its skip a start or two, put him in the pen, or trade him. Something has to be done. He is not the same pitcher

    yes

yes something is up, you dont lose it that fast, in that short of a time period given Lesters history.....maybe he is hurt, a DL stint could be in the future....

would be nice because he pitches against NY next....

Wow that was brutal, I thought Lester would be done after 9 ER in 3 when I checked my phone. Bobby V must have said can you give me 1 more inning we are only down 6.

Best offense in the league somehow and this team won't make the postseason. Any type of pitching and this team is crushing teams, the offense was getting it done with brutal outfield play.

Will the Sox give Tawaza a shot at starting again or are they holding off because of the injuries. He has looked pretty good in limited time in Boston, stats say he has been great for the Pawsox.

If the Sox are looking to move Lester, the Braves are interested and have plenty of good pitching prospects. I don't think it happens, Cherington isn't 2004 Theo.

Lester just became available in my fantasy league. Its either him or Carlos Zambrano who has been awful. Should I roll the dice with Lester?

Lester if he can get out of this funk he is in, has the best offense in the league to back him. **** Doubrant has 10 wins.

    Lester's last 4 years ERA 3.47, 3.25, 3.41, 3.21 in the AL East. This year 4.80 before today's 11 ER's to bring is to 5.46.

Hopefully it's just a bad year on a bad team. He should be in his prime.

If anyone should start it should be Franklin Morales.

Lester has the potential to at least be great. Zambrano is pretty much done other than a great start here and there. Lester has better offense, potential, and bullpen. Easy choice that if your going to roll the dice than do it with Lester

You make it sound like Doubront is garbage. He has 10 win cause he usually gives the Sox a good outing. In his last 10 games he has given up more than 3 runs only 3 times. The only really bad thing about Doubront is his pitch count is always really high around the 6th inning.

I didn't mean to make Doubrant sound bad. Doubrant has been a solid give up 3 runs and pitch 6 or so innings and I am fine with that. I am saying Lester has been a run or so better than that for his career so if he can get it going again, the offense is there and the wins will come.

thing is if your are Cherington, do you make a move? I mean there are a bunch of guys out there who can be had on the trade market, but do you trade good prospects away for them? and by them I mean the good pitchers like Garza, Shields, and Dempster.....the others on the market I am not sure help that team more than what is already there...Shields will cost an arm and a leg because it is inter-division, and you have to deal with Theo on the other 2....

Quite simply these guys on the team need to pitch better period....and should be...

Fink u did pick a bad week to be out....stuff flying around all over the place hahahaha

I was going to say they dont need HR, and flipping him for a pitcher would have made sense....

If the Red Sox wanna shake things up, they would see if Texas would take Beckett and see what they can get for him...

Ryan would have a hard-on probably to get a homegrown Texan in the fold, he might overpay...
