Superman is on the Deadliest Catch. I watched TDKR again and I gotta say the 2nd one holds up a lot better, imo. This one feels rushed, which I'm not sure how when it's almost 3hrs. There were a lot of cool looking scenes and shots, but in the end I think TDK was just a much more well put together film. TDKR lacked a lot of consistency. Another thing is I know people will want to compare Ledger and Hardy, but it's not even fair. Bane has way less screen time and a very muddled story. Too bad because I think Tom Hardy did a great job but just wasn't given enough to work with.
IMO Nolan and Co gave us 1 amazing films and two really good ones. I enjoyed this film. I think I enjoyed Batman Begins more. I think The Dark Knight is a much better movie. Spoiler This movie puts the 2nd one in a different perspective. For me, now there is zero doubt that the Joker kicked Batman's *** in the second movie.
I saw it, I loved it. Nolan did an outstanding job showing the scope of the city and the destruction taking place. I thought he did a pretty decent job of incorporating a multitude of villains from the other movies as well as key elements like the Lazerus Pit and its "healing powers" and making it into a realistic affair. I thought that Anne Hathaway did a bang up job. As did Michael Caine. I loved the ending although I would have changed a few things a but, and there were some "24-esque" time shifts in the movie, but it can be overlooked for the overall scheme. Watching these three movies back to back one day will have to happen, as the entire trilogy played out at once would be fantastic. Also, I can't help but think that this storyline could have, and would have existed with The Joker as well. Either as replacing Bane or in control of. Anyhow, great film. I am pleased with it.
Spoiler The way I looked at it is because he was using the cane his joints stiffen up and stopped working properly. Yes he used that knee brace to get full flexibility of the knee but he once did he no longer needed it. You never see him with it again, especially in the prison scenes.
Either way he gave us the best superhero/comic trilogy ever (quite possibly one of the best trilogies ever) and brought the Batman franchise back from the dead and totally changed the comic book genre landscape for the better.
Spoiler So I'm a little confused as to how Bane escaped the pit. He was shocked that Bruce was able to recover and climb out since he wasn't a child. Did they explain how Bane was able to get out? Spoiler I also chuckled out loud for a second when they made the "alligator in the sewer" reference. I've always wanted to see Killer Croc on the big screen
Heath Ledger's death is a big reason why people liked TDK so much. Not saying it wasn't a good movie because it was... but that is what put it over the top for some people.
No. It was Ledger's performance. That was easily one of the all time great performances in movie history and that had nothing to do with him dying. The phenomena you're talking about exists for sure, but it doesn't apply here.
Spoiler Talia said after she escaped the pit she found Ras who sent men down the pit to kill everyone but Bane, who helped save her. Bane was found badly beaten by the men in the pit that's why he has to wear the mask. And yes I enjoyed the Croc wink.
You're delusional if you think Ledger's death had nothing to do with the public perception of the movie.
No, I think you're applying a generally accepted rule to a situation that didn't need it. His performance was the difference in all the movies. In fact, DK wasn't his last movie and that movie flopped.
Just watched the last scene again via YouTube. Still gives me chills. Such a powerful ending. Really all 3 movies had great endings.
Saw the whole trilogy in theater. It was a great night. It was fun to see Batman Begins and The Dark Knight again in theater. I was so amped up for TDKR that I didn't get tired at all. My *** was a bit sore at the beginning of TDKR. But once things started going I was fine. Spoiler I liked TDKR. It's so big and epic I need to see it again in order to get a firm opinion. But I will say that at worst I think it's as good as Batman Begins, which I think is a really good movie. At best, it could be up there with The Dark Knight, which I think is a great movie. I also needed another viewing of TDK to feel as strongly as I do about it as I do now. So it's possible I'll end up liking TDKR just as much. Nothing really struck me as lacking with the plot. So I'm leaning towards thinking I will like it better upon further viewings just because I'm not great with dissecting the plot on first viewing, especially with a movie this big and long. But even with so much going on I didn't feel it was rushed. I think it hit most of the emotional and thematic points I wanted it to. The fights with Bane were brutal and pretty awesome. And I'm pretty happy with the ending. It was handled in a very Nolan-esque way, which is a good thing.
Spoiler I understood that the men were sent to beat up and ultimately injured Bane. I know how and why he ended up wearing the mask. But that doesn't explain how he got out of the pit
Spoiler They tied a rope around his *** and got him out? Brought down a latter? lol Out of all things that were "meehhh" that's the least of my concern lol
Also, for everybody who is a gamer and played the Diablo series, did any of you think that.. Spoiler Bane sounded a bit like Deckard Cain? When he spoke, that's all I heard lol
Spoiler i wasn't concerned, I would just like to know how he got out since he was so surprised that Bruce was able to. The biggest problem I had with the movie was they didn't explain how Bruce could make it back to North America, with no money, then somehow make it into Gotham when it was cutoff from the outside world except for one highly guarded bridge. Uhm, they explained that they went back for Bane since he protected Raz's daughter. Raz sent the men in to exact revenge for what they did to his wife. Since Bane protected Talia, obviously they spared him and took him out, had him join the L.O.S., etc., etc., I thought the answer was fairly obvious.
Spoiler It showed how when Talia stuck Bruce. While telling her backstory it showed the League of Shadows, led by Ras descending into the pit. It even showed Ras touching Bane on the face or head. Obviously they pulled him back up with the ropes they came down on.
yeah I don't know about that one. great performance, yes. Easily in history. yeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh a bit over the top.
You're on crack. It is far and away one of the top performances on film of all time. Somewhere in the Top 50.
top 50 is far and away different from easily one of the best performances of all time. I'd say you must have been smoking rocks when you posted that.
Not really. Think about how many films there have been in the last 70 or 80 or however many years and you'll realize even saying 50 is a very small number in comparison.
I'm not big on ranking things that are so open to interpretation and situation, but for me Ledger in that movie was one of the best I've ever seen.
Oh ok. So, if top 50 is not one of the best ever, then is top 50 one of the worst? I bet it is less than 1%.
every time I see TDK, I have to consciously remind myself that it's Heath Ledger. unbelievable performance
Just seen it for the second time.. Even better, truly appreciate this series and jesus what an ending.
Saw it at Noon in IMAX. Stunning. Bane was an awesome villain. Smart and brutal. Anne Hathaway, in my opinion, stole a lot of this film. I thought she was amazing. I could watch her walk away from the camera all damn day. When she was on the Pod I think I had a crisis.... I'm going as many times as my schedule and bank account will allow. At least twice more this week, in IMAX. If you have not seen it in IMAX yet, do it. It's worth the extra.
Best trilogies ever? Maybe. I don't know if he changed the comic book genre landscape for the better. He did show that you can take the genre seriously and make good comic book movies. He did a really good job.
no one said anything about worst. I said stating it was easily one of the best in the history of cinema is an overstatement. Easily in all of cinema given all the great acting jobs done by others. I'd say its top 50. Debateable once you get around 30 or so.
Top 50 in all of cinema qualifies as one of the best of all time. Like I said the top 50 is less than 1%.
