I don't imagine this is a good thing. I don't know what impression Chad Johnson got that made him think he can go ahead and "be himself" again, but this is how Channing Crowder was and Jeff Ireland was on the horn fining him for every little thing he said, and that relationship soured very quickly.

Talking about setting up $100,000 slush funds for fines, engaging in rehearsed celebrations after touchdowns that will inevitably call down flags no matter how careful he thinks he's being to abide by the letter of the law...it's just not a smart thing to do for a guy that hasn't even made this team yet and is set to receive the veteran's minimum.

I like that he's confident and I like that he's working out again with the guy he claims is the secret to his success, but I wish it didn't have to come with these kinds of outbursts and promises.

Well, what can you say at this point...if the game matches the mouth, and the mouth stays decent and team oriented, I'm good..I do believe he still has his quickness, the practice tape showed that, and we've heard several reports about his explosion of the Los. I'd like to see his strength gaining separation and how he acts when going up against his nemesis, Revis.

I lobbied for him when Parcells was here, but that was four years ago..What I do sense is a proudness to be a dolphin, and that kind of allows me to accept him for his unconventional style of approaching a season from a professional standpoint, would I love for him to keep his head down, mouth shut, and prove everyone wrong about his game, and show a more serious approach sure, but if he says his mouth forces him to perform, then I'll accept that as long as he does.

Fin D, you may be right about the dude, maybe certain players have to do that to perform.

Hopefully he realizes there is a limit to it and controls himself. I'm all for fun and celebrations but when you start distracting from the team then we have a problem. Nice little tidbit in there too about Vernon's deal being close. It's going to be embarrassing if we don't have everyone in on time.

This is what comes with Chad Johnson. He seemingly did this every year in Cincinnati. I hate to sound blunt but, get used to it.

Ill take 15 yards for 7 points. We havent been in the business of scoring 7 points a lot recently.

    Well said.

I like this quote from Chad.
When my mouth is running, it forces me to perform. Its never been vindictive. I never got anybody in trouble.

To me the trash talkers that piss the oposeing teams off is trouble. Especially if they can't back up their own mouth.
Chad is a clown that makes them laugh. His humor is not vindictive just as he stated. If he can now back it up we will enjoy him.

Sorry, but I won't. I get what you mean, but that 15 yard penalty is like handing the other team a layup for at least 3 points on their ensuing drive.

Score a touchdown, do a dance, and that's it. No need to lose sleep thinking of ways to get on Sportscenter the next day.

I loved it when he was in Cincy, I am going to love it even more when its in a fins uniform.

I don't want the penalties, not cool with that but I could care less if he gets fined. Its his money I'm not going to tell him how to spend it.

I how his swagger and attitude radiate to the rest of the team.

Personally, if he's the CJ of a few years ago production wise, great. If he's the CJ of last season....oops

BTW, I also personally would have felt better (like you Ck) if the title were "CJ filtered"...

With the kick-off's moved up, is a 15 yard penalty really that harsh anymore?

I love Chad Johnson's personality. But I do think his behavior often goes over the top and does create a distraction. He seems to take the defense that as long as he's not hurting anyone, disrespecting anyone, etc...then it's not his fault if there's a distraction, it's up to everyone else not to be distracted...but I don't think that's realistic.

If he costs us penaltys , it's not be gonna ok, he will have to be smart enough to have his fun WITHOUT a penalty.

Terrible analogy. The things Steve said he wants does not even remotely require the NFL to be like Nazi Germany.
