Makes sense that's the top 5 guys. I hope the Sox make no moves, this team isn't winning anything this year though.

Thats what I was saying before, does it make sense to even trade at this point?

In order for them to become the true contender they need to get some pitching pretty effing fast...any decent MLB pitcher is going to cost you an arm and a leg....

Oh and you guys are stuck with Carl Crawford.....holy crap I know it is only a few games, but what the hell happened to him? To boot he is going to have TJ this offseason, making his arm probably even weaker....that might go down as one of the worse signings Theo did.....

There is not much to like about this team. Deep down I want to think Crawford will come around but the results aren't great so far.

If I am the Sox I am listening on any outfielder including Ross, but excluding Ellsbury. Kalish should get a chance even though he isn't killing it at AAA.

Sox have $108 million committed next year plus Ortiz, and 3 arbitration guys in Ellsbury, Salty, and maybe Bailey will get some decent cash. I am saving my money till the winter and bringing some big time pitching.

yes as of right now you guys have mega money coming off the books.....

    Ortiz 14.5, Dice-K 10, Ross 3, Salty 2.5, Cook 1.5, Padilla 1.5, Shop 1.3, Aceves 1.2, probably some others I forgot too...

35.5M total.....you know they are at least keeping 10 of that in Dice-K, Ortiz they will probably keep....

If im the Red Sox im buying. All the injuries theyve had. Buchholz and Lester being awful. Beckett not pitching well. Buchholz looks like he may be turning around. Your not far out as of now. You add a solid starter to that rotation. Couple things click, all the sudden your in the argument for top of the AL.

Right but adding a solid starter is who Nappy? I would think Dempster, Garza, and Shields are the only ones that are considered solid.....ALL which are costing you probably more in prospects than they are worth at this time of year...except maybe Dempster, because of whats going on...

I would give up prospects. This time of the year? Saux are only a few games out. They definitely have the ability to make a run to the World Series if they could add any of those 3 and Lester even starts being average.

I think Shields to Boston is impossible, without monster prospects going back to TB....trading w/in the division just cost more.....

Dempster is the most likely but I havent seen anything but casual interest on part of Boston....I think another team gives up more for him...

They are saying now Garza is staying put....we shall see...

Dempster is overrated. No way if I am the Sox I am trading anything of value for 8-9 Ryan Dempster starts.

Looking forward to Lester putting it together today, and Tues night should be good Verlander vs Beckett. Beckett has looked pretty good last couple of starts minus one inning usually the 1st.

I would be in on Johnson, no way Sox should trade for a rental player.

The Sox schedule the rest of the way is Brutal. 11 NYY, 9 O's, 6 Angels, 5 Rays with Texas, Oak, and 6 more with Toronto.

So did you guys miss me? Did I miss anything this week? Did anything happen in baseball at all?

Anyway a little late to the party but I LOVE the Breslow for Albers/Pods trade and the Anderson trade is just to clear up a spot on the 40 man roster with Bailey and Hill coming off of the 40 man roster soon. I hope Lars gets a real shot in Cleveland but he had zero future in Boston.

Welcome back bro......recharged the batteries for the playoff push??

Sox playing better, Yanks playing worse, guys who you though where getting traded did, the ones (big money owed) didnt......BDH yelled at me some more, he is like my better half 2.0.....

I can see those types (Beckett, Soriano, Carlos and Cliff Lee) being placed on waivers in August and see where it goes......it is more about how to split the money than prospects with these types....

Ohh and I have a torn labrum (no BS) and have an appt with an ortho surgeon on the 22nd of August....

I was throwing too many 0-2 balls in the dirt....

Happened October of 2011...splitting wood with an axe.....came overhead with a swing......felt something crunch and didn't think anything of it...been working out with weights, playing softball, working my job etc since and it was fine, it was there (pain) you know but I just dealt with it.....had my annual with the doc 2 weeks ago, told him, he sent me for an MRI, comes back torn with a cyst on my rotator cuff......so I gotta wait to see what the Ortho says....if my options are cortisone shots and PT or surgery.....I am doing the surgery...

I am bummed bro........I was in the middle of applying for another job, so I probably have to pull out now...

Thanks. I actually got married so I was on my honeymoon in the Bahamas with extremely limited internet access.

I was actually shocked Hanley Ramirez was dealt and dealt so soon before the 7/31 deadline. Not sure how good those prospects are that the Marlins got back but I'm at least a little annoyed the Sox didn't make a better attempt to get him (most likely due to the money owed to him and the luxury taxes).

And yeah all of those big money guys will be placed on waivers in August, should be interesting to see if any of them are moved at all. A lot depends on health of teams and how many teams are involved in the races.

Due to the 2nd wild card I could see the trade deadline being pushed back to mid August in the near future.

And damn sorry about the labrum hope you get better.

Haha. Thanks man appreciate the kind words.

I always tell people I live my life by the 3 "B"s. Baseball, Batman and blink-182 (also wrestling too but 3 Bs and a W just doesn't sound as good).

According to reports the Sox and Rangers discussed a Ellsbury, Beckett and Shoppach deal. No word on who would come back to Boston but the Texas system is pretty stacked. Got to wonder what was discussed.

They're in a win now mode as the main core (Hamiltion, Young, Cruz, Beltre) are either leaving the team soon or are heading to their decline period. The Rangers are stacked at the farm, but that's just it, they're young with no MLB experience.

And Texas has a ton of money from their new TV deal so they could afford to bring on extra money.

The team that's finally starting to spend some money is LAA. You'd have to think they will lock up Grienke long term, if so they're going to be pretty tough if they make the playoffs with a rotation of Haren, Weaver, Grienke, Wilson and Santana.

The funny part is he knows he sucks, all he was trying to do is get one last 5M dollar payday, and he got it.....

I say it time and time again....he wanted no part of the East.....

u think they do 20M for him?

FWIW I picked them to win the WS while you were sunning your ***......that rotation is downright scary....but I think Santana could be coming back to reality going forward....going to a 4 man rotation of that minus Santana is mighty tough....any word on Haren?

I will always respect a player for wanting to play closer to home. He would have been a bigger disaster in the East.

Don't know. I bet he would sign for less (between 15 to 18 million) if he feels comfortable there.

I didn't realize Santana had been that bad this year. I wonder if its bad luck or if his stuff really dropped off. Perhaps it's his shoulder/elbow finally failing him like most predicted due to his delivery/motion.

No clue what's up or wrong with Haren, like I said I've been out of the loop, is it still his back. Check rotoworld.com.

Watched most the game last night, brutal 6th inning, both those HR's were crushed.

Beckett doesn't deserve the boo's, not sure what to do about his health going forward.

Just to let everyone know I was wrong about Denard Span, he helped kill an 10' fantasy team and I never forgave him. He can play though.
