Mike bernadino was on the radio down here, and talking about Ireland..The host was doing his normmal bashing of Ireland, just spewing the same ignorant sh*7 that hasalready been proven was bogus.. He said that Ireland is cleaning up the mess that Parcells left, he said that everything was so tight shipped, that disdain became part of so many relationships, he said that hes talked to enough people in this league that are very aware of Ireland skills, he said they told him just give a chance, that theres a ''big mess to clean up, that he's a good person, and that he's getting better at his public skills, said a lot more things to check the host, but bottom line is, Bernadino doesn't think that Irish had control of personnell, and that Parcells was sh&^y at the job... Never seen a host shut up and switch his side, but sure enough did, said the maybe Ireland has been misscasted.. Lets hope, I know the guy is a good family man, I can live with some stubborness, as long as hes a very good talented evaluator..we'll know soon enough.
Both. Is there an overall unit that needs to be better? Is there a glaring weakness that Miami's going to need to improve upon throughout the preseason before week 1 against Houston? For example, the WR corps do they drop too many passes? Does the line need to do a better job in pass-protection? It sounded as though the running game struggled, which is understandable going against our defense; how does it look overall?
The main exception is when you have no choice or when the rook is just so much better that you basically have no choice. But if it's close or the rookie is just a bit better in some areas then I see it as an unnecessary risk. I believe that if Rodgers had been thrown in right away there's a far greater chance he'd be the guy running around and getting by on his talent rather than the incredibly efficient and talented QB he is now. Taking it slow with RT not only makes the transition better for him, but also increases the chances that he's a Rodgers four years from now rather than Vick in year 4.
Its so hard to detect flaws schematically because there isn't any tackling going on, and when players are getting near the QB, they are letting up, but yet they are allowing plays to continue, its weird sometimes to get a grip from an evaluation standpoint..but, let me think about it.. I think if Bess , Chad, Hart, and pruitt/gates all make the team or a combination of sorts, were gonna get man up all day, teams are gonna try and push us around at the los..it's one reason why I have Wallace and Fuller making the team, we need some size and strength. Linebacker depth..I'm really happy with the starting trio, especially what i've seen from Misi, and what I'm confident I will see from Dansby... Now Spitler and Trunsik as depth is not doing it for me, If we lose one of our guys, I'm not confident...our rookie seems to be struggling a bit...Guyton is pretty good though, big mother..pretty fast. we need to see them play some games before I can speculate any further..I think the team is in better shape than a lot of folks think...I think media perception has bambozzled a lot of people in the sports scene.
I agree with the poster that said looking at the draft now, Tanny would be drafted before Jake Locker, Andy Dalton, Blaine Gabbert, Josh Freeman, Tavaras Jackson, Jason Campbell, Flacco and Matt Ryan, IMO. Mathew Stafford is a preliminary good comparison, IMO. And to the poster a few days ago that said RG3 was more ready to play than Tanny will be in for a rude awakening. Baylor run the pop gun spread offense. He didn't have to make even one NFL throw per game (20 yard out opposite side of the field...). Mostly 3 yard crossing patterns, WR/RB screens, with a few bombs mixed in. He also gets very shaken up when you hit him hard - he folds after you get after him. I'm glad Tanny is with the Phins!
Plus he needs the learning that comes from analyzing game tape of how defenses disguise coverages. He may know this offense, but I have to believe Bill Belichick would have a field day disguising coverages and forcing Tannehill into mistakes from misreads.
dj thanks so much for the last 4 days reporting! You read better than any of the media guys in Miami, nothing but the facts! GREAT JOB!
Awesome stuff DJ.. Thanks for giving me a reason to get excited about Tanny after a seemingly endless off-season full of despair.
I saw this on Omar's Twitter Feed: DJ, you were there both days Tannehill was there, what are your thoughts about Omar's perception of him?
Pretty sure Omar has a hate-on for Quarterbacks. Tannehill went 75% on day 1, and while less accurate on day 2, was described by Salguero as "not off".
for a rookie Qb, missing the first two practices, then coming in for the other two, he was very impressive.. I don't follow Omar on a regular basis, but I do know that he's not telling the whole story on what he's seeing in this case, I don't know why, but the reason why I criticized his work is because he's not painting the correct picture for the fans, he actually is deceiving them, saying Ryan Tannehill played well in the first practice "But" had two interceptions" is completely deceiving.
75 percent is not accurate king, Philbin said that out of 52 competitive throws, RT completed OVER 40, over being the key word..also must account for at least three easy drops..they way I judge completion percentage by a qb, he was around 90 percent. Day two, a little less, but the throws that we're missed we're early and deep, he came back and made up for that though.
Yesterday I was reading his tweets live from camp and saw these two: So I thought to myself, it seems the rook has come down to earth a bit. No big deal it'll take awhile learning to handle the blitz, and then I read your report and it seemed like he play that bad against the blitz. Also you said he seemed to roll out and throw on the run a few times against the blitz.
Well, I do know that Omar thought Matt Moore had the best day on Sunday... which is comical... so I wouldnt really put any stock into his opinion regarding the QB position. There was a pretty sizable gap between Garrard/Tannehill and Matt Moore.
Dj come on back up your army! Your four days have been great for all of us here thanks mang! But we don't want no sack heads or towels stand up proud. Now I'm going to be looking for the guy with a towel in Hard Knocks.
I don't think he meant the spraying comment as a negative, they had him on the move left and right all day, he was literally throwing completions all over the place...there were two times where he would of got sacked, and those were unempeded routes by the defender.
