What quantifies enough though? I'm not saying they're wrong, but I feel like that is a subjective term. Ideally it would be nice to have a breakdown of his throws in practice.

Does it really need to be quantified?

because in RT's first practice he threw two absolute perfect throws that hit his receivers in the chest and hands, I mean perfect, Kelly summized that as "even though TAnnehill had a good day, he still threw two picks "............with absolutely no description of the truth, and the context for which he put it, was completely misleading...

In reality, the kid hit about 45 of 52 competitive reps, 2 being outright drops.

I'm not sure you saw in the other thread where I talked about the competition, I didn't say he was leading, I did say that when it comes to overall ability, there is no competition... I understand, and like you, have said that Garrard will probably be the starter, i will say that because we can't truly judge the competition until we see a proper amount of reps of Tannehill with the first team..

IMO, it's not a competition between the three until we see reps distributed fairly.

That being being said, when he should start or not Imo has nothing to do with Garrard or Moore, it's more about the franchises decision between starting a rookie in the first game, and how that projects for this franchises future, or taking the slower approach no matter how good he looks, and how that projects for our future.

I see your point about what he may of seen at the OTAs, but I can assure you and everyone, clunky and slow are not in his repertoire at this point against the 2nd team..so he should be able to decipher the difference..

I have no agenda against the guy, none, but When he said that about the ints, with such poor context,it really looked poor on his abilities that he claims he has..

Exactly. Never said he was one of the top QB's in the AFC or the league. He was a Pro Bowl QB and the Chad Henne's of the world aren't. So there is something to be said for that level of talent. :)

how good were his TEs and slot guys in college? I imagine fuller played the outside and Tanne was most confident in him.. do you think in this system that he is so 'comfortable' in that perhaps he just has an inherent mistrust of the guys in the seam?
I have no idea how good his seam players were in college but its a possibility

He had Michael Lamothe, Nehemiah Hicks and Hutson Prioleau at TAMU. They combined for 40 catches, 350 yards and 4 TDs. The WRs combined for 242 catches, 3108 yards and 25 TDs. Hicks and Prioleau might be worthy of bringing to NFL camps next year. They're talented.

Safe to say he was a bit more WR dependent than TE dependent, lol.

He seemed relaxed and showed no hesitation going down the seam for the two days that I saw , with good touch and accuracy, I would look no further than our tight ends if the plays are not being executed.

true, but the offensive design is great [hopefully], fits Garrard better than anything he's yet to experience [no?], the WR group as a whole is as good or better than he had in Jax, the TE unit is deeper with more versatililty [although it's lacking a redzone machine like Lewis], and the running back trio is better in the passing game. IMO our personnel allows for greater scheme-versatility and a greater ability to create & take advantage of favorable match ups which helps make up for lack of WR talent.

In '10 when he had a 91 QBR with 23 TDs to 15 INTs, 3 of Garrard's top 5 targets were TE & RB.

Garrard's 2 best years, 07 & '10 (102 & 91 QBR), his WR targets were bleh Reggie Williams (who Garrard got 10 TDs out of in '07), bleh Dennis Northcut, bleh Ernest Wilford, bleh Jason Hill, highly inconsistent but talented Sims-Walker, and a stud slot receiver, Mike Thomas, who was relegated to the perimeter.

He could really have a Pennington'esque season, but with more TD opportunities.

I actually like Omar a lot. If you can get past his sometimes condescending attitude, he is quite hilarious. And despite what a lot of you may believe, he knows what he's talking about.

I don't agree that Omar knows what he's talking about most of the time. Occasionally he says things worth listening to, but you have to wade through the majority where he just thinks he knows what he's talking about. I also think he often has an agenda. DJ's point about Omar harping on RT for two ints that were perfect passes is valid. that's somebody who not telling you the whole truth. Maybe Omar wasn't watching on those plays or he's not saying everything b/c he wants to stress his point about fans getting too optimistic. I don't know, but either way he's not someone I trust to tell me what's going on.

    I'm not a fan of Omar's b/c he's like a 7 at a club who acts like she's a 10. It's annoying.
Seems like he thinks he's the king of stinkless s**ts.

It's the Alpha male syndrome. Simple as. Tanny will supplant Garrard but not by the 1st game. Midseason...perhaps.

Awesome to hear he is getting reps with the 1's today! Can't wait to hear how he does. Man, I really wish I was at practice today so I could see it with my own eyes, and not have to be so reliant on the media guys. Stupid work... :tantrum:

Today seems to be very egalitarian as far as the 1st string reps are concerned. David Garrard started out with the 1's but when they went to 11 on 11 it was Matt Moore starting with the 1's and then Tannehill is also getting reps with the 1's...it looks like today they focused on equal sharing.

You know CK, Nolan Carroll was playing well when I was there it looks like he continues to perform in practice..hopefully he finally trusts himself and allows that athleticism to take over.

The reality is Nolan Carroll had a bad start to the 2011 season along with everyone else in that secondary but after that he played solidly enough.

I've talked about the mess at the safety position and how if it continues, you could finally see Richard Marshall being tried there as Alen and I speculated when he first signed. The beneficiary would be Nolan Carroll who probably would step up in the nickel role.

The safety I'm most intrigued with is Jimmy Wilson. He's physical, he's smart, I love his attitude and charisma, I think he could be a leader down the road. He should end up a good communicator. If there's someone that is going to keep Richard Marshall firmly planted at nickel corner, it's him IMO. If Tyrone Culver had better wheels he could be the guy but the fact of the matter is, he's got low range, and I don't think you can afford that.

Sounds like Roberto Wallace is continuing showing flashes , looking forward to the scrimmage and then some live action. There is a lot of talent and upside with him and he can be a plus on special teams as well.

I misspelled nothing. I guess you are not familiar with the saying "I've not see hide nor hair" of whomever. Hide, as in skin, and hair, as in hair on his head. It means you have totally not seen someone. Of course it isn't accurate for someone you know only on a forum, since we do not physically see each other here. You can be critical of that aspect if you wish.
