Really enjoying the Olympics , the BBC coverage is as close to perfect as you can get. I have 24 channels showing sport from 8am till after midnight and I have watched most sports apart from the horse dressage stuff as **** knows what its about. A few m8s have been to some of the events and say the noise is just mental. Its like being part of a football crowd. Wish I had got tickets now
US women's soccer team just came back three times against Canada then won it in overtime with seconds remaining to set up a women's world cup re-match with Japan at Wembley Stadium...they just gave me more excitement in one game than the Dolphins might all season if its anything like the past 3. Doc Rivers called it the most exciting/best game of anything at the Olympics, I agree.
While I agree it was a good game to watch, and I'm not even close to a soccer fan, to say it was the best thing of the Olympics is just crazy... the officiating in that game was quite questionable all game long.
Well his reasoning was Usain Bolt's amazing run that he watched live was over in 9.8 seconds, as opposed to 3 hours back and forth. I guess it depends which sports you like. Soccer's my 2nd favorite after football, so it stood out for me. That's the great thing about the Olympics though, so much to choose from, amazing moments every single day whether its a great game or a great story. Something for everyone.
Oh my... Can vs USA in soccer... if you're a soccer fan and you missed that game, shame on you. I know, women's soccer is not the same as men's soccer... but that was one of the greatest soccer matches I've ever seen, men or women. Now a rematch vs Japan in the gold medal game. Only two days rest. Which I don't understand... they have until Sunday to get the final in. But they are playing it on Thursday. Japan was really stretched by France. Too bad the French goalie doesn't now what the F she is doing.
Team sports never get much attention in the Olympics...glad that game changed that. And word is those Brits might put more fans in Wembley than were at the Rose Bowl for the memorable 1999 WWC final...or at least close to it. I just find it great that British fans are excited for a match between Japan (almost half the world away) and USA (where its called soccer instead of football).
OUCHIE!!!
on the pk, if the first Canada player doesn't touch the ball (also with her arm) then I don't think the second player gets called for the hand ball. I think it threw off her timing run at the shot and her arm was further away from her body than if it hadn't been deflected. That was a rough sequence for the referee though. Never seen a goalie get called for time wasting with an indirect free kick. A yellow card yes... An IFK no.
Yeah, it was BS all along. Some US girl was apparently counting every time the CAD goalie had the ball, indirectly influencing the ref to eventually make that call. Here is the article that I read that from; http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/oly...women-s-soccer-s-comeback-against-canada.html Also, stay classy Hope. http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/eh...in-soccer-team-disses-canadian-160147757.html
Honestly dude, I only feel bad for them because of all the media hype it received and realizing the effort they put forth. I didn't even know they were playing until my WhatsApp blew up, and a few people at work were talking about it. Poor officiating is poor officiating though and regardless of the team, you don't want to see their dreams compromised due to something that is beyond the hundreds of hours they put into training. Know what I mean? And these London Olympics are marred with judging controversy, not just within soccer. Anyway. I saw those articles because I went to check my emails, and here we are. Obviously they are Canadian articles, so biased to the 9th degree, just sharing is all. What did our coach say?
I love the cockiness from us.....go out there and dominate, nobody gets mad when Bolt shows off after he wins.....and that guy shows the eff off....
Man Usain Bolt, what an athlete....watching him run is awe inspiring....love the cockiness, the arrogance, etc...love it all....he makes the impossible look so easy, and the best part is he wants to come back in 4 years!!!! Chris Johnson needs to be quiet, having 4.2 speed in a 40 and running 100's and 200's are totally different animals, Bolt would smoke him, hell Yohan Blake would smoke him as well....
Bad calls suck...Japan got robbed of a hand-ball that should have been a PK for them. But...they happen all the time and you have to move on and keep playing and try to get another goal or hold a lead. Canada should let it go soon. I just had to pick up a Alex Morgan name/number shirt...2nd favorite #13 now. (They quickly sold out of men's WNT shirts) Future Olympic rumor: Canada and USA might put in a joint bid for 2024 in Toronto and Buffalo. (Which means New Meadowlands could be used for Soccer, good way to bring some Olympic event to NYC area without actually having an NYC Olympics which would be a traffic nightmare) Could work...rumor says the biggest competition would be Africa, the IOC would love to have one there since its the only place they haven't. Nairobi will bid, possibly Casablanca & Durban.
I love Allyson Felix. So cool & classy with 3 golds. So humble. The American women sprinters are not only great but so many - Felix, Richards-Ross, etc. - are so great when they are interviewed. Have to love them. If they measured class, the American women runners would beat the Jamaican men by two seconds in the hundred. So would the Jamaican women, for that matter - they too have a good bit of class.
USA Woman have collected enough medals on their own to finish 3rd overall if they were a country in and of themselves.....
Pretty good guess really.....thought the Gold count to China was looking good till USA turned it on....and GB streaking into 3rd over Russia was surprise for host nation.
