All of that typing and spell checking, all of the research on trade partners..for naught!?!? Say it ain't so!
Let's hope. Just from watching him throw via Hard Knocks and some of the NFL.com video of the scrimmage; I'd rather let him take his lumps while learning on the field. I don't think Matt Moore's going to get Miami much, if at all, further than Ryan Tannehill would.
Which, if true, will pretty much end his career, no matter how severe it actually is. The knee gives up on you as an athlete, you're done.
Sounds like a Joey Porter type of knee cleanup deal. No matter, let the usual Dolfan whine fest begin! Dancers, Feasting! Strong Drink!
Then wouldn't a him playing in a game make him much more fragile than we originally thought? A simple wear and tear makes him injured "for a while" if he had been hit at the knees in any game he is out for the year. This could be a good thing then
Brees didn't fail while Culpepper didn't pass. The doctors in 2006 would not medically endorse Brees' throwing shoulder. That doesn't mean they failed him while they passed Culpepper. They were also concerned about Culpepper's knee. Nick Saban made the decision that he'd rather have a QB with a questionable knee than a questionable shoulder.
That's a nice way of saying "100 out of 100 doctors would have told you to stay the heck away from Drew Brees in 2006" ...
I'd much prefer to see the OL get straightened out before tossing the Franchise into the frying pan. All new terminology, new players, Pouncey kinda blows at line calls (or did) and the Qb has to call the protections, that is a recipe for a 2-14 season.
I totally disagree with that. You make it sound like something they could have put off til the end of the season if need be, and just decided to do it now to clear the way to see more of the other 3 QBs.
More or less, do they really need to see him play and practice more then he already has so far? He has been a starter in the NFL since 07, he had the full install and first team reps, and the point of him not having the cleanup now would be?
Are you seriously suggesting that they'd start a QB who has missed the vast majority of training camp and is coming off knee surgery when said QB is called David Garrard, who, incidentally, is also coming off a whole year of not playing football whatsoever?
I don't think this is as big of a deal as some are making it out to be since the story broke. I've been reading opinions where some have already considered him done. I think that just might be jumping the gun. Garrard is going to be the opening day starter I believe so why not clean it up now and give the other QB's an opportunity to get reps. Showcasing Matt Moore is a good idea before they begin to shop him which I think is going to happen real soon.
Yep, this sounds like a routine clean out, but they HAD to see what he was about before having it done. Garrard set the bar, it is up to the other 3 Qb's to knock him off of the spot so to speak. Put it this way, why else wait? This is not an new injury, it sounds like cartilage floating in the knee, or needing some rough spots shaved. It also would make no sense for Garrard to have purely elective surgery as he knows how the league works, he missed a year, this is his one shot to get back onto a roster and the millions of additional dollars that means for him.
I really wanted to see Garrard in preseason. This kinda sucks to me because we are hanging in question even more.
Too all those who posted about Matt Moore being traded I said Moore will be our starter this year don't doubt it... Looks like Im getting this one right.
Given Tannehill's familiarity with the offense; I think that alone mitigates those concerns somewhat. At least, enough to the point that I'd be comfortable starting him. From all we've read and seen so far, I think it's pretty clear he's the most talented QB on the roster. I don't think the O-line can be as bad as it was last year, and I certainly think any coach is an upgrade over Dave DeGuglielmo - and I trust Tannehill's mobility more than Moore or Garrard; certainly more than Henne's. Let the kid learn I say. Has to start on the field at some point.
Garrard is done. Why didn't he get this done in Feb. like Richardson? No way he starts after missing entire preseason. I will lose all belief in this regime if they start him after making the fanbase feel like it's a genuine QB battle. Do I have to break out my "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills" pic?
Perhaps this will answer some on the reason Moore for trade bait should not be a hurry hurry up process.
at some point, keep in mind even Henne looked great stepping into Pennington's offensive scheme..at first.
Henne was doing so well, he was simply too brittle. Still can't believe we let him go, would've been superb back-up if not starter. Not the case with Tannehill. No sense in making Ryan sit if Moore doesn't seperate appreciably. Pennington's scheme?
Yep, Penny's offense, knew the line calls, knew the checks, everyone was healthy at first Henne stepped into a turn key package and set Rookie records, once thing fell apart he did not have it in him to pull it back together and make it "Henne's offense".
I'm really not depressed about this at all. I like Moore more and it's not worth getting upset about anyway as the Tannehill era will begin at some point THIS season. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Pat Devlin as well. I think he's a keeper. Perfect for this offense.
Just go all in on Tannehill...What's the worst that could happen? We pull him midseason, crushing his confidence, then let Moore finish up the season and screw us for draft positioning? lol
