Moore has had plenty of those over his career.

I'm sure Dansby was informed of this when he had his talk with Philbin.

Something about overpaid under performing athletes who NOW have the balls to speak publicly about something they shouldn't be talking about rubs me wrong. Forgive me

Omar is the only beat writer commenting that Tannehill had a bad practice, but everybody wrote about the WR drops, so I imagine that was a large contributing factor to how the QB's looked.

Philbin stated that the QB that starts Week 1 will be the QB who gives team the best chance to win that game, not games in the past or the future.

Hmmm.....could Garrard come off the deck Fiedler style and still start after not having played much, if at all during the pre-season?

And thats fine. Theres nothing wrong with preferring that he kept it in house. However, to take the stance that he needs to be replaced on his team b/c he voiced his opinions… or to imply that he isn’t properly preparing b/c he voiced an opinion is where I whole heartedly disagree.

FN, I'm finished talking about #58 and what he said, Philbin said what he thought, we've both said our peace.

See no reason to continue to rehash.

I don't think so, imo what is happening is Philbin wants either THill or MMoore to seize the Qb job, at Wr he is going with the guys with high potential but whomever seizes the job will play.

If those things don't happen then they go with default players like Garrard and whomever they can find at Wr.

really? what if dansby was in the army and he publicly disaggreed with his superior? that crap doesnt fly privately either. it doesnt matter what alot of people do, it matters what is right. what is right isnt always popular and what is popular isnt always right.

    Well away from here
Johnson's loss does hurt us, there is no doubt about it. Even more so with Hartline still sidelined. I didn't think that injury would keep him out this much and as it is it will take him 2 weeks to get back in playing shape (give or take), which all but stifles his ability to be a large contributor early on in the season. The first two or three weeks will likely result with us playing receivers who outside of Bess have very limted, if any starting experience playing in the NFL.

That does hurt. Signing someone right now may not be as productive as waiting to see who may get cut, but with that comes the understanding that this guy likely will not be an immediate contributor within the offense either. I'm not saying for a quarter of the season, but probably again, two weeks just to get the offense down to where he can run more than a handful of plays successfully.

This makes me want to see Moore starting the season, since it could be stormy weather. Let Tannehill win the job later in the year, if he can, and if the WRs and OL would give him enough support.

I'm surprised they even discussed it in those terms. But if Joe Philbin's chat with Chad Johnson was any indicator the conversation went something like this:

"Now I'm just personally of the opinion that stuff like that should stay in house. That's just me. Maybe you feel differently about it and if so that's OK, I want us to be able to talk about these things."

Which of course probably left Dansby confused as to whether he needs to do anything different next time or not.

Yep, the upside is, their upside, imo that is more important as we MUST give these youngsters playing time to be there for Tannehill.

Ryan Tannehill, and the system and talent around him is really what this year is about imo.

The dilemma to me is we have great pieces in the running game, we cannot rely on it b/c we have to become a better passing offense which will mean..losses.while they get up to speed...sucks, it is the way it is.

We all knew it would take awhile for this offense to hit it's stride. I don't think we'll see what it's really capable of until next season or the season after. This year is just a taste. HOpefully they can just win enough games to keep the building process moving forwards.

He should be bent out of shape for how he treated last season , this season should be all about redeeming himself and providing leadership on and off the field . So far we haven't seen that . Step up or prepare to step out.

Philbin may not be a rah rah in your face type of guy which I am fine with. I feel like he gets his point across and I'm sure if he wanted to come at you a little more harsh he most certainly would.

And that is the problem with 2012, we could look like the Bills circa 2010

They gave Steve Johnson a shot and he paid off, but that first yr was brutal.

IDK Bro, there are some things happening that I'm dubious about, add in the lack of prime time TV games and the pita about finding a good stream and this sounds like a good yr to chill.

Want to see THill play of course, just think a high volume passing offense is going to be brutal early in the season.

Didn't Philbin say on Hard Knocks he didn't expect everyone to be like him or think like him and if they had questions or issues to come to him and say " hey Joe ... "? it may be much ado about nothing (Dansby ) but he hasn't shown great professionalism in the past ( 25 effing lbs. overweight ? eff that ) and this could have been handled better by him imo.

Bottom line Philbin decided Chad wasn't worth keeping , we are trusting in him ,maybe we should do just that and so should the players. This is about long term and I realize players want to win NOW , but they clearly have been told Philbin has an open door and welcomes them to come to him with concerns. They also were told that representing the team well is not an option , and while the players have "seen worse" as Dansby said , that was prior to Philbin. It was his decision to make and he made it.

Actually, having heard the interview I think Dansby DID qualify his remarks by adding the typical 'but I don't have all the info' and 'it's not my decision, I leave that to the coaches' stuff.

I have a feeling that Dansby did that because he is already seeing that you can't cross Philbin. So, yeah, in a way, Philbin's approach has already started to control the fire that cutting Chad started. They disliked it, but they noticed it and so won't go too far out of line ABOUT IT.

I haven't heard the interview , but if backtracked and softened his stance , that is a positive. Now it's time for him to perform and make a positive difference on the field.

    Exactly!

Johnson was a pita, but he also all we had in the way of swag on the roster.

In the irony portion of today's post, the two Wr's who said even the most remotely positive, confident things, CJ and Gates, are the two most likely not to be on the roster when we face the Texans.

Any competition at field goals today because giving the football up at the 50 two times a game is not going to help win anything.

I wouldn;t call it backtracked, he actually softened his disagreement right away during the interview. Twice he said he didn't have the info the organization had, and they had their reasons and it wasn;t his decision.

So, yeah, his disagreement and dislike for the organization not giving Chad another chance when the players woudl have liked that, was softened by those statements.

One of the reporters noted that Philbin and Ireland had a discussion today and Ireland left the field looking like he had a purpose. My guess is it has something to do with that 90th roster spot...and don't be surprised if it's a linebacker rather than a wide receiver.

Omar says that Tannehill had a bad day of practice. But he seemed like he was predicting that to be the case before the practice even happened, and then later talked about how bad Tannehill was, and so I hate to say this but I don't trust him.

Seemed like a lot of drops (Roberto Wallace, Jeff Fuller, B.J. Cunningham, Marlon Moore), and once again after practice in his presser Philbin emphasized how the receivers need to catch the ball more.

Kheeston Randall sighting...someone said he beasted Mike Pouncey for a sack.
