Izzy Gould @IzzyGould Linebackers Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett still limited as is defensive end Cameron Wake. Izzy Gould @IzzyGould Artis Hicks back working with first-team offense after sitting Tuesday. Izzy Gould @IzzyGould No issue with Sean Smith today. He had a minor leg issue Tuesday, but appears fine. Izzy Gould @IzzyGould Tannehill working with 1s Izzy Gould @IzzyGould First team offense working against a scout defense. And first team defense working against a scout offense. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Notice I WAS impressed with the Dolphins' offense WITH David Garrard. Now.....not so much. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Gary Guyton and Jason Trusnik as the starting inside linebackers. I've seen more 3-4 than 4-3 this week. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly It is clear from this series the Dolphins have installed a game plan for Friday's game. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Ryan Tannehill had good day. Not like yesterday. But he did throw a 40-yard TD pass to Roberto Wallace in his 11-on-11. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Here's the evidence why Ryan Tannehill isn't starter ready yet. It was 3rd-and-4 at 22 and Reshad Jones picked off Tannehill. Read his eyes.
No way, stares down Wr's after 19 whole gms as a starting Qb? Sounds like he is not quite ready yet, that is Qb 101 stuff
I feel like the other beat writers are missing out on what is important - and that is how the Dolphins make Omar Kelly feel.
hey omar, I found video proof that Tom Brady is not ready to be an NFL Starting QB either
LOL, yes Omar's feelings are what is most important. The other writers need not show up. Just read the tweets from the omnipotent one.
Yup. That settles it. Because Moore and Garrard would not throw an INT all year. I hate this ****. Deuces.
From here on out, if the practice notes have "Omar Kelly" attached to them in any way, shape or form can the OP please note that in the thread title so I don't have to click on it.
I know there is some hatred for Omar on this board (myself included), however Garrard WAS the best looking QB in camp before he got hurt. And the majority of Tannahill's success has come against the 2's and 3's. I don't find it surprising that our offense looked better with Garrard under helm...
Am I misreading it, or is Omar saying Tannehill was bad today, unlike yesterday. Wasn't it yesterday that Omar said he had a horrible practice while also tweeting him as throwing essentially 3 TD's?
Ya I know. I'm just saying that just b/c he often has an agenda… doesn’t mean that he might not be right in this instance.
I posted this in another thread, but it seems as appropriate here. On that TD to Clay, RT did a great job of looking off the coverage. You know from his comments afterwards that Clay was his primary target on the play. We had enough camera angles/views to see that RT looked left the whole time before hitting Clay in the middle. It's also something that highlighted as a strength in those Gruden QB shows. My guess is that it's far more likely that Omar doesn't know what he's looking at.
Ya, but on the 4th down after Wallace’s TD was overturned… he stared down that out route and it almost got picked. He has the capability to look off a WR and knows how to use it, but that doesn’t mean he’s consistent with it yet.
To me that looked like a short route, first read throw. Those aren't routes you're supposed to look off. I hear people incorrectly reference those kinds of passes as staring down receivers all the time.
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Tannehill is not ready. Practice hasn't started yet. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Tannehill may not be the answer. He went 7-8 for 2 TDs and 213 yrds against the 1s. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly I don't like QBs. I like Garrard. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Tanny was horrible yesterday with his 0 interceptions and 4 tds. Today he was better. He is not ready. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly I trust my eyes. My eyes tell me Tanny isn't ready. Tanny threw 5 tds with 1s, vs 1s. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly I'm at practice. i see details and things you guys cannot. Its hard to see things at practice, there's a lot going on and that's why I didn't say anything about Hogan.
Omar's eyes are the problem. On this td, while it was a nice pass, I'll give a lot of the credit to Wallace. The when he first looked for the ball it was maybe halfway there, he slowed a bit like the pass wasn't for him, and the so did the defender (he didn't look for the ball, just watched RW), RW then hit the gas and got a few yards of separation and caught the ball in stride, taking it the distance. Good sell plus good timing to pull away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
at least you took the time to make that verse similar to what it actually says instead of just throwing a random reference out there. lol. i know that verse well.
Very possible. But if so, then thats a good example of a route where he should have looked off the WR for a second to have that DB hesitate in coverage. If he looks at Moore on the slant route on the outside or Pruitt in the left slot on the seem route... maybe even a quick pump, then you create the needed spacing for that first read.
I'll put omar on the thread titles from now on lol... The other beat writers do not tweet as much information though. Sent from my XT875 using Tapatalk 2
A pump would not work timing wise. The pass would be late. Those passes aren't generally even taught as a read. You're supposed to look and throw immediately. There's no defense to read. You're supposed to throw it out there before the defender can react. In fact, the defender on the main guy is irrelevant. You're only concern is if the outside corner doesn't follow his receiver.
I think it's them not using the right words to express what they've seen. In terms of the offense he's in, he held the ball longer than he should. The outside corner followed the WR in on the slant. BOOM you throw it out there and lead Clay to the endzone pylon/sideline... Tanny waited an extra half-second. not sure why,. It's amasing the difference that half-second makes, though. The only options by then were to jam it in there with a fastball, go to another receiver, or wait ANOTHER second then see if Clay turned towards the back pylon so you could lob it back corner.
Anybody noticing how he's using deeks in his repertoire ?, I loved seing him use them in practice and it showed up in the game..
He didn't stare down the out right. I just re-watched it. But he threw the out route late, which is just as bad.
I agree that he threw it late. I wouldn't say it' just as bad b/c I believe the timing is easier to teach/learn quickly. It's mostly about reps with the receivers. The stare-down criticism is one of my pet-peeves b/c I hear fans say it so often and most of the time they're completely wrong.
Well I agree. I didn't mean just as bad meaning it couldn't be fixed. I meant just as bad as in that actual play in game. Throwing the out route late, especially near the goal line is inviting a pick 6. Something that is easily fixable.
I don't think that out route as it played out was a serious danger for interception. The defender got a hand on it, but he would have had to make an extraordinary effort to get both hands on the ball and retain possession. Possible, but I don't think particularly likely.
I tend to think in terms of player evaluation first so that's where my mind went. I agree that throwing a ball late can be as damaging as staring down a receiver.
I think its obvious we are beyond that and into "Mayan calendar-end of the world-dogs & cats living together-we're all gonna die" mode.
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly David Garrard would prevent the end of the world and extend the mayan calendar. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Ryan Tannehill just cut the mayan calendar short a couple of days. The end of the world is now November 28. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly Notice Tannehill couldn't even give us Thanksgiving.
