So the reporter asks Ritchie and he stoically replies, "You know it's hard to tell what the strength of this offense is. [Then he fudges] We have so many moving pieces. I think we are still searching for our identity right now." This is what you have to say when your offense cannot score a touchdown. What is the strength of our offense right now? There is nothing TO say. I bet Ritchie wanted to say, "Nothing". But, like a good pro, he talked as positively as is possible after today's performance. Truthfully, I thought the running game made strides today. If the WRs are going to suck though, we have to lean on the TEs in the pasing game. I am more idsappointed in them than in any other offensive unit. The TE's HAVE the talent the WRs lack. Fasano is proven, Clay has shown he can be an expllisve mismatch, and Egnew has potential and yet nothing is coming out of this group other than Clay's TD last game... then he seemed to disappear this week. If we do not trade for a WR, our identity will be running mixed with throwing to RBs and TEs. The WRs will be the occasional playaction, or short routes for YAC.
You need above average TE play if that is the case , again , we don't know we have that ... at all. IMO.
I like how the reporters keep asking about so-and-so's demeanor in the huddle and the answer is always "Well, we don't have a huddle..."
Agreed but that the TE's are more favourable ( start spelling Canadian ) than the WR's is actually a negative imo.
Well Tannehill was getting good practice smacking the guys in the hands with the ball how any of them have a job in the NFL has me wondering ATM must be the Miami sympathy program.
Am I the only one who thinks Tannehill's passes just doesn't have enough zip? Even down the middle of the field throws kinda seems like "line drive floaters". *As best an an example as I can put it*
We have above average TE talent. I think coach Campbell is failing to prepare them to show it in games.
Ryan Henne in the house!! On a serious note this team is going to suck this year face it.. We need to many pieces.. We might get a free agent wideout during the season or a trade here but were not going to any playoffs.. Hopefully we can establish that Ryan can play in this league..
I think that's when he's going for a touch pass, to get it over someone. When he has a striaght line of fire, it has crazy velocity.
Maybe , I mean Fasano has had several coaches , coaching staffs and he keeps bringing up question marks as opposed to definitive answers imo. He can play , but he isn't the primary TE you want as a threat and he consistently is inconsistent again imo. He isn't going to dramatically evolve and Clay was a late pick for a reason and Egnew , well as mentioned often about other players , the game is too big for him at the moment. Patchwork , sometimes it works and maybe you get enamoured with your "skills" to find unknown talent to the detriment of actually acquiring talent. This is a talent acquisition business and then you have to coach and prepare the talent. We have a long way to go , and if we maintain the one step forward , one sideways and two back we will never leave the black hole we have been in.
At this point we may need to try playing Bush at wideout fulltime. I'm also taking solace in the fact that a collapse over the second half of our schedule looks unlikely, or even possible. Also looking forward to Jim Turner's comments on the sideline during Hard Knocks, they need to put a mic on him every game this year and broadcast a live stream as an alternative to traditional commentary on tv and radio. Loved how Bob Greise said "At some point whether due to injury or poor play, Matt Moore will play this year", and then realised straight away what that meant and desperately tried to backtrack. I think it was 9 minutes into the first quarter before the TV booth said something that was actually factually correct. Plus whose idea was "The Griese Board", that's icky.
I dunno I can see why they wanted to trade B Marshall but after he was traded we had to do something to replace him our offense looks so **** atm its sad.
OL/RB Look at where draft assets were deployed in acquiring players. -Bush #2 overall -DTrain #60 overall -Slaton 4th rd pick OL 2nd/3rd/1st/3rd/1st Wr UDFa's/late rd picks DBess is clearly our best Wr, the problem is, as much as I love long shot guys, only Matthews has played better then were he was picked up at in the draft, Cunningham has played at about his level, and Gates finally, finally, showed something.
To me, I'd just as soon stick Gates out on the field and let him do what he can do over starting Naanee, or heck even Roberto Wallace, if we are in development mode why bother with Naanee? I liked Gates on the field speed, if John Jerry can turn the corner, Clyde can as well, he looked fast fast fast.
Yeah I wanna see what Gates can do too. Give him some reps in the game, let him become our third reciever. It was nice that he caught a pass. I think he caught a pass last pre season as well so that makes two catches for his career. NICE! Oh yeah ..... He caught like a three yard pass last season as well!
Well gosh, if you don't play him, how is he going to be targeted, let alone catch passes? Seems complicated I know, but they can always watch practice film and ketcsh..
