No depth. Anywhere. Poor cap situation. Traded away a top wr and our best cb for picks. Now vulnerable at both those positions. Hiw is it possible to have a regime thst emphasized ol and have a poor one with no AREAS of strength on the team. Ireland is awful at managing the cap and assets, and isnt an ace talent evaluator either. What are his redeeming qualities?

Furthermore, is there a team in the nfl with less brand name talent anywhere?

What is a dtrength of this team, besides punter?

So you studied every team's 90 players and know we're the worst?
Have you seen our cap room for next season?

If I'm not mistaken, we have a ton of cap room space. I don't think our cap situation is bad.

Running game is fine, D should be good, but losing VD will hurt us no doubt.

This is rebuilding, what kills me is that it did not have to be this way.

The ireland defenders are almost as much of a problem as ireland becuase they buy his BS spin and the lack of outrage at his sheer stupudity gives him more time to screw us further.

VD was no slouch.....up until last year and this years training camp he was considered to be among the top 10 or so CB in the league. Funny how all of the sudden he's a lazy bum and a bust. VD was probably one of the best man to man cover CB in the NFL. Plus he is physical and plays the run well....last year his tackling fell off yes but he is in no way a average run of the mill CB. Any time I have ever heard him in discussions on tv or what not people always have him at high praise. The Colts got a bargain and VD will play great football for years to come.

Nah, you can see this coming, giving away Marshall and Davis, two playmakers for draft picks speaks loud and clear as to what Philbin thinks of the team.

Rebuilding, thank the good Lord for the BC Lions, at least they know what the hell they are doing.

Vontae is decent but not great, he gets burned way too often to be a top 10 CB.

I used to be an Ireland defender. No more. I argued endlessly around how treated Dez and defended him over it.
I'm done defending and supporting Ireland. His track record is abysmal. 6 years to fix the OL and we still can't get it right.

Now we trade our 2nd best player on offense and 2nd best player on D for draft picks that will surely be wasted like a majority of his draft picks.
This guy is a certified disaster.

Hes lazy in the off-season regarding conditioning. He isnt a bad CB when he actually plays. Im ok with the move as long as that 2nd pick works out. IF.

Vontae seems to make big plays but gives up big plays. I know some people will point out "WELL RICHARD MARSHALL SUCKED AGAINST ATLANTA!!" but from I remember (I only watched the game once) it seemed like when the ball was completed around Marshall it was when we were in zone coverage and Ryan just found a soft spot between Marshall and a linebacker. I'd have to go back and look to see if I'm completely right but I'm pretty sure that was the case.

I think we are intending to re-sign Sean Smith and felt that Vontae Davis hadn't shown enough thus far for the coaching staff and front office to feel that he would be a long-term plan for them at cornerback. So we dealt him to get what we could out of him... if the light went on for Vontae, he could be a top 5 cornerback in the NFL. But will the light come on? If I was a betting man, I'd say no.

    Sorry man but it's real.

If we were going to trade someone, it should have been Bush. The guy's value is higher than it was last year, he's older and won't be around when we're good, and we have young guys at that position to fill in.
Instead, we trade a young guy from a position where we're thin.
    It makes very little sense.

Bush will be dealt at the deadline.

Rocky, I wish I had the faith in Ireland some here do with the picks he's stockpiling. I don't. I'm sorry. I dont believe he's a particularly keen evaluator of talent and he will squander the assets he's acquired for the players he's dealt, IMO.

I agree with you about Ireland. I was ready to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the last couple drafts and free agency periods have made up my mind about him. He's not a good evaluator and he's a horrible "people person" who will never be able to attract free agents.

My beef with him is he half asses things. The OL WILL BE OUR STRENGTH. Other than incognito off the trash heap, he does nothing to help first rounders Long and Pouncey through FA.

We ignore WR until it sinks to the worst grouping in the league, leaving our promising young QB bereft of weapons.

He signs a hybrid corner/safety in Marshall and lets our Pro Bowl strong Safety Bell go THE SAME DAY, insuring our Secondary is still one guy short of being effective in nickle or dime groupings.

    No conviction.

I see what your saying but I really don't think the coaching staff had any input on this one. I realize Davis didn't show up to camp ready to play but he clearly moved from 4th to 3rd this week. If the coaches were in the loop, it doesn't make any sense for Davis to play at all on Friday night. The Colts obviously aren't going to do this deal for an injured player.

I made the assumption that the team passed on Flynn because Philbin wasn't sold on him. I'm not so sure about that anymore. We'll see what happens, but if I were going to rate the player additions of 2 bad teams last year, I'd say the Colts are already improving at a faster rate than the Dolphins and I'm not including Andrew Luck.

I expect Ireland to waste the pick, and (based on his 5 year sample size), I dont have much reason to believe otherwise
