Though getting him now gives Tannehill an extra season to work with him. This motley crew of WRs, other than Bess, could ****** Tanne's development. The sooner he has some genuine NFL caliber WRs to work with, the sooner he becomes the QB we all want him to be.
How can you snark and work the computer at the same time? Aren't you scared of accidentally dropping it in your bath water?
I'd go with the guy who matches up best with the scheme and Tannehill's passing strengths. You think Wallace & Tanne could kill it on the deep outs? Wallace would have to be attractive b/c he doesn't necessarily fit the #1 mold in the regard that he doesn't need 90+ catches. He's an elite receiver but he still allows Philbin to spread the ball around like he desires. Do you think with Bowe here there'd be too much pressure on Tanny to get him the ball rather than spreading it around?
I'd sacrifice a pick to get one of those guys here now for the reasons you mentioned. Plus there's no guarantee of landing Bowe or Wallace in FA.
My only concern is does he have a history of attitude issues? I'm not sure because I don't know his history to well. Other wise I would love to have him.
He does have a history of character issues. And not too long ago he was suspended 4 games for breaking the NFL's steroids policy. Many people feel he's put them behind him though.

I think it was a good trade. The Fins got a second and a sixth for our nickel corner. Yeah Vontae has loads of potential, but unfulfilled potential is practically a chinese proverb. In 3 seasons he has provided more disappointment and frustration than success. Plus, he was a headache — getting suspended last season for a game due to his immature actions, showing up out of shape the last 2 years. Going into next draft the Fins should have extra high round picks in the 2nd and 3rd, plus 50 million in cap space. They are building this team into something special for the long haul.
Mr. Clean, if you would like people to read your posts, I suggest you change your sig. I can only seem to read a few words before my eyes drift downward.....you are making it tough
I'd rather wait him out in free agency, then use our 1st or 2nd next draft on a WR(or heck, any skill position). All of this, of course, is if Ireland doesnt find a way to piss Bowe off during free agency.
This team needs bowe and wallace. Getting one doesnt do much for us. I like Hartline and Bess but Hartline hasnt even played a snap.
I'm putting my money on Bowe and J Jones via trades to go along with Bess and Hartline. That's a good starting WR corps.
You want a crazy, out of nowehere, but makes some sense name at WR? Wes Welker The Pats just gave Aaron Hernandez a long term deal, and they now have big money tied up in Gronk, Hernandez and Brandon Lloyd. This is a typical Pats move, particularly with Welker's no show in the SB and the contract issues currently. Welker is a perfect fit for this offense. I'd probably trade a 2nd for him. How flippin crazy would that be?
No way would I trade a 2nd round pick for an undersized 31 year old possession receiver who also wants a new contract? I don't see how that fits at all with the rebuilding process. Especially since our best wide receiver is basically a poor man's Welker.
Welker is far better than Bess. I like Bess, but let's not kid ourselves. Welker is quicker, shiftier, and has more breakway speed than Bess does. He also produces TDs which is something Bess has not shown a knack for. Maybe not a 2nd, but to suggets that Welker could not help this team immensely, immediately, and for the next few years is silly.
He didnt suggest that Welker couldnt help, just that we already have a similar player, albeit Bess not being quite as good. He also brought up Welker's age which is valid since we know this is a young man's game. Very few players stay great in to their mid 30's...welker has maybe 1-2 1000 yard seasons left in him. Hes not a viable deep threat and certainly doesnt bring any size to the table. Im not sure I would want us giving up more then a 4th. He can help us but not for too much longer.
I'd trade for Welker. But I certainly wouldn't give up a 2nd. Probably not even a 3rd. 4th sounds about right.
I don't agree with that at all. I think if you traded Bess to NE tomorrow, he'd put up number as good as Welker. Miami simply doesn't use Bess in the same way. Hell, we never used Welker like NE did.
I recall that Welker talked alot of sh** about this team on his way out of town, he can go rot. Besides, while we're desperate for receiving help, we already have a guy with a similar skillset.
I remember Ireland saying something similar when he traded Brandon Marshall. I think that is his stock answer.
Unfortunately, I think you are correct. The odds of us making a trade for a receiver are as good as us not making a trade for a receiver. If it makes us better relative to (ooh a Sabanism) the value given up, then we'd do it.
Ireland can make this Vontae deal a lot more tolerable if he can swing Wallace for a 2 and a 6 and Bowe for a 3 and a 6.
