My prediction is 4-12 with probally the 2nd worst offence in the nfl next to the jets.

If we get good production out of new faces, then yes. Without question.

Do you think we will? I think it's tricky when you'll need at LEAST one new WR to step up AND Martin the new RT/LT to step up AND you must have the rookie QB step up. I mean, 2/3 is optimistic, I think, for those happening... I dunno.

Thats what I was thinking. This style of offence with no wrs or a legit te is going to be hard to watch.
I do feel this team is taking a step back to take 3 steps forward and think they will be contenders in 2 years.

If it was possible, id bet you $1000 that we will not even be close to .500. We won 6 games last year and this team is worse than last years

I'm with you. But we won't be taken seriously.

Why do I think that? Because I believe the coaching is better, and because I think we'll have some new players make names for themselves this year.

I think so, yes. I think Daniel Thomas and Charles Clay are going to be very productive. I think one receiver other than Bess will make some plays for us as well.

Because the coaching and talent is better overall. We may have lost some in the WR spots and I think we lost way less in CB then people think but I feel like we raised the level everywhere else.

The over/under in Las Vegas on the Dolphins is seven. If you are so sure that the Dolphins will finish 500 or above. You should take out a second mortgage on your home and take every other dollar you have and bet it on the over. You may never have to work again, if you are right.

As for me, I don't see the Dolphins winning more then five games, but I certainly won't guarantee it.

I would definitely take the under of 7.5, think 5-11 is pretty reasonable but I'd love to be surprised.

Considering everyone thinks we will finish under the 7.5 total posted by Vegas, I think over 7.5 is a solid bet.

The key in all this is that, while the Dolphins' story grows weaker and weaker, so too do the Jets' and Bills' stories.

Where the rubber meets the road is that where before I saw the Raiders and Colts as easy meat, with the Bengals as a very winnable game, I'm really not sure about that any more. I think the Dolphins need mother nature on their side against the Raiders. The higher the heat index, the better, especially with the Raiders likely to be forced (if the coaching staff is smart) to wear their black unis. How the Colts are going to end up looking is really up in the air but it's been hard NOT to be impressed with how good Andrew Luck looks right away, and not just him but the way that front office and coaching staff SEEM like they've turned around that whole team. They will not be easy, and we have to travel up and play them on their turf. The Bengals, I have tended to doubt they will repeat last year's success. Even if they don't, they will not be an easy game for the Dolphins.

Nobody is going to convince me that we shouldn't pencil the Arizona Cardinals game in for an automatic victory. Maybe that's naive, I don't know, but that's how I see it. And I'll believe the St. Louis Rams are a tough team when I see it. Similarly, I think the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a walking disaster this year under Mike Mularkey.

Given all that, let's say the Dolphins take all three games they should take, take two division wins off the Jets and Bills, and then they win one of the games I described as no longer easy questions...that points to 6 wins. If the Dolphins are an underachieving team then that could be as little as 4 or even 3 wins. If they're an overachieving team I think they can get to 8 wins. I do not see higher than that happening.

Given the current state of mind of the team, given what has turned into a tough training camp for the locker room (Hard Knocks, injuries, the Chad Johnson release, Vontae's trade)...I'm more inclined to lean toward underachievement early and overachievement late. The problem there is most of our winnable games happen early, and so that could impact the win total to the negative. I'll pencil in 5 wins and hope to be surprised.

But then, all my predictions are based solely on histrionics. Just like my 6-10 prediction a year ago.

If we beat the Raiders week 2, I think we can win 6 or more games. If not, I think we have a hard time getting to 5.

I think the Raiders will be a good measuring stick of how bad we really are after 4 preseason and 1 Houston game into this doomed campaign.

6-10 seems right to me. It's hard to be worse than that (and it also keeps the team out of the high picks unfortunately).

Better schedule than last year and the team is due a little luck.

6-10 seems optimistic, and I'm a rose colored glasses, glass half full kind of guy.

Rookie QB, first time head coach, new offensive and defensive schemes. There are a ton of growing pains ahead.

With that much NEW, I'm really only concerned with the final 8 games of the season when this team has an identity.

I want to see a minimum of 4 wins in those last 8 to feel good about this coaching staff and direction.

Cam **** the bed, Tony overachieved. Something in the middle would be just right for me.

Depends on the running game, will Bush and Thomas stay healthy? And will Miller be a nice surprise? We may have the worst passing offense in the NFL...unless they somehow get Gaffney and/or Cooley which would upgrade it over some others. Playing the NFC West could be a boost, because they aren't outstanding passing teams that will pick on the secondary like the Patriots will.

We'll need to keep an eye on the pass defense...looking at our schedule it seems like we play mostly teams who run better...as we avoid the passing teams of the NFC North, South, and East and AFC North, and no Broncos or Chargers. Teams like Colts and Jaguars are an unknown...could the Jaguars defense carry them like the Bengals did last year out of nowhere? There are going to be teams who were 8-8 or worse last year make the leap to the playoffs. We'll see if they're on our schedule.

I'm leaning to 6-10 if I had to choose. 5-11 to 8-8 is where they've been hovering the past few seasons and will probably end up...unless something unexpected happens.

I could see us winning less than 5 games but just from a quick glance at the schedule I think we should beat the Jets once (or twice, hopefully), Buffalo twice, Arizona, St. Louis, Jacksonville, and maybe Tennessee if Locker is still at the helm.

I see a 4-6 win season now. If Ireland makes moved to shore up some weaknesses through trades/cuts before the season starts, I could see us performing better.

The talent is better? Where have we improved the talent level, and how does that improvement top the loss of the talent of Brandon Marshall and Vontae Davis? Both of which were immensely talented?
