I see some Chris Chambers to him, in that when he does drop one it's generally an easy one right in the breadbasket, but then he makes up for it by making some sick spectacular catch later on, just how Chambers often was.
Gurley and Borel spent last year on the practice squad. Boykin is an undrafted rookie. Gurley appears to be the most field ready, but not by a considerable margin over Borel. Boykin probably requires a little more development. So with that said, I would say Gurley, Borel, and Boykin.
I agree and I would like him if it was price appropriate. But YAC is also a reflection of a QB having good or bad ball placement. We know that one of Henne and Moore's biggest problems wasnt getting the ball there, it was placing it in a spot where the receiver can do something after the play. Rodgers on the other hand puts his wr's in a position to make plays after the catch. Its also a reflection on the offense. We used Hartline as the Z and slot WR when he did play. In Daboll's offense that entailed mostly vertical plays. Posts, deep crosses etc. In GB theyre running a WCO which is going to be more YAC friendly as long as you have the QB play to go with it.
I was hoping for both of the VA Tech boys on draft day, Coale and Boykin, so if we get either one now, I'm good with the move.
That all depends on what they think of the younger guys. If they have them rated as high then he becomes expendable. They are loaded at WR.
If this does go through we should send Donald Driver a ty card for having one more nice offseason in him.
How about whose a better route runner, better blocker, better hands? Jones does add more in the way of making players miss, no question but its not that black and white imo. As long as we get Jones for a 4th or later, I dont really care that much. Im just not giving them anything on day 1 or day 2 because quite honestly we're going to need those
Gurley has no quicks. Another big man who can't separate in man, IMO. No thanks. Love Borel. Haven't seen Boykin.
To a degree yes. If you have two qb's make the same or similar throws and QB1 puts the ball on the money then the wr still has a chance to turn upfield. WR1 doesnt have to worry if the ball will be there. He doesnt have to look to see where its placed and instead he can think about avoiding the defender or turning the ball upfield. QB2 may or may not make the throw and then WR2 has to look for the ball. He then cant avoid defenders looking to tackle him. Sure some of the missed tackles and broken tackles are attributable to physical strength and field awareness as well but to dismiss the type of offense and QB play is something we cant do. Jones is definitely stronger then Hartline and probably more elusive. Hartline has better straightline speed I think and is the better route runner for sure. Theyre both somewhat flawed. I can live with them though. Anything that means I dont have to see LetMeGo Nanee in a Dolphin uniform ever again.
Yeah... Just have this website to go of off! Ha! Any factual info behind this? Would be excited to get James Jones! Not sure why everyone assumes he'd be JUST a 600 yard, 6 TD player. He gets that every season in a loaded Green Bay WR group. He's probably the 4th option (at best) on that team (behind Nelson, Jennings, Finley) and arguably behind Cobb. With Miami's crew, he gets way more looks and Tannehill has shown to be able to put the ball where it needs to be. Why couldn't he get 1,000 yards? More snaps, more looks, and less competition... He could be a very reliable player for Miami. Give them a 3rd, why not?
I don't think this James Jones thing is happening. Too many people talking about it. When is the last time everyone talked about us acquiring a player via trade and it came true? Been a long time. Maybe Ricky Williams was the last one and that took about three months or so it seemed.
Conversely the Vonte talk was front and center and of course transpired. Even Ireland mentioned the rumours when Vonte came to get the news.
Im hoping Dansby is part of the deal and we save a pick. Hell maybe we can swing Jones and a pick for Dansby
If the Dolphins can get James Jones for a 4th round pick or so, then it would be a steal for them. In 2011, Jones was 17th in the NFL in DYAR, ahead of Brandon Marshall who was 18th. He was also #3 in DVOA. He had a 69% catch rate and also had 7 touchdown receptions with only 55 targeted passes. Plus, his contract is very manageable, with 2 more years on it. The fact that Green Bay is looking to trade him is likely simply a cost cutting move for them, as he will be looking for a moderately increased pay day when his contract is up. Overall, if Miami gets him for a 4th, this would be a much better acquisition than the Brandon Marshall deal Miami made two years ago. That one was foolish.
That's crazy talk. Dansby in the James Jones deal. You lost me. Moving Karlos should have nothing to with this man. Wow.
I believe you have to get Tannehill some players in this developing year, so if you want him to develop, you should be rootin for this trade. Also, he may be a three in green bay, but the two in front of him combine to form the best duo in the league imo. Thompson has leverage, the things that I mentioned, desperation, and that he believes his payer is better than perception, I think it will take a third, if Ireland can get him for a fourth I'll be impressed.
After the Cook trade my guess is a 3rd and a 7th, or a 4th and a 6th. Edit: Oops, our 6th is conditional, and I don't think you can do that. The former then...
This would be excellent. He's not a number 1 but he's an at least a 2 IMO. Would also show the veterans that we're trying our damnedest to win.
I (and I'm obviously not the only one) have thought James Jones makes too much sense for the Dolphins for a little while now. If they do get him hopefully it's for a 4, but I have said I'd trade a 3rd for him. I think he's a solid 2 in the NFL. IMO that would give the Dolphins two solid 2s, and a very good slot guy. You don't have that legit #1 guy, but it's miles better than the situation we're in right now. You need to give Tannehill at least one more legit WR. He cannot play as a rookie with the current crop or a slight upgrade via a waiver wire pickup.
a third, a fifth, a 7th and Juan Huron's first born (that he knows of)...a free 15 day trial membership to Chris Chambers "The Chamber"...and some vintage ceramic gnomes that Stephen Ross hand painted himself
I'm not buying any talk about Moore being involved in a trade with GB. Why would they want a QB that cannot play in a WCO?
The Moore talk was just being funny I think. I would love Jones on this team. Please cut Naanee and pick up Jones.
