Carter was a huge get for the canes today and he fits right in Artie Burns who committed on Wednesday. So much for the recent allegations affecting recruiting. Burns is an elite track and field hurdler as well. http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/07/23/2909180/artie-burns-of-northwestern-high.html http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/07/26/2914459/miami-hurricanes-get-commitment.html Looks like the coaching staff wants to keep Burns at CB to mate him up with Howard, last seasons big get at CB. Carter is Safety all the way and lessens the sting from Ray Ray being a knucklehead.
The DB talent Golden has brought in since getting here has been outstanding. It's damn near a gold mine now.
How bad is Brandon McGee. A senior should never lose his spot to a true Freshman. Either way, will be excited to watch Tracy play as he's going to get a ton of playing time regardless. That's as college ready a freshman CB you're going to find with his football IQ, technique, and superior work ethic and film study.
Good riddance. Anybody who loses trust in coaches because they recruit other players at the same position and they're moving down the depth chart isn't deserving of a roster spot. Work your *** off for that spot or GTFO.
Laron Byrd makes the Cardinals' roster and Adewale Ojomo made the Giants roster. Both were undrafted. Brandon Washington, however, was cut. He made a ****ty decision to go pro, unfortunately. Streeter and Spence are on IR. Spence had a really nasty injury last night.
So Im hyped for the game today let's ****ing do this guys. No matter what our team looks like, we have a proud history and I love this team.
So, our WR's suck and our defense is getting exposed by the TEs. It is going to be a long year. Edit: That is more like it.
I love the fact that this stadium is apparenlty packed with UM fans. Christ even in college sports Boston fans are bandwagoners.
The main issue I saw aside from pressure with the front four was just depth in our zones. It wasn't mental mistakes which would have been way worse. On their last TD there was one linebacker to two receivers. It was an easy TD no matter what choice was made, but he chose to take away the easier throw to the TE down the middle. Both were very easy throws however. They need to stress that in practice this week. If you aren't going to get pressure your zones just can't be that loose. The other issue was obviously not covering the flats very well. Impressed by: Players are going for the ball every tackle and it paid off. The arm strength of Morris. Duke Johnson! Offensive play calling in general. Run defense. Not impressed by: A lack of aggression in defensive game plan. Our front four on passing downs. As mentioned the depth of our zones. Dropped balls. James being the main ball carrier. BC decided that they were going to sit their corners 10+ yards off of our receivers. So instead of pressing we decided to dink and dunk them to death until they adjusted. They never adjusted and we just threw those quick dumps all game. Stephen Morris should have had an even better completion percentage but he also needs to work on bringing those throws up. Too many low lasers on easy passes. He also seems to struggle a bit with accuracy when he needs to put touch on the ball. Also wishing Duke Johnson would get the majority of carries. In my opinion he looks just as powerful as James but with much more explosion. I like that he isn't a dancer with the ball. It's all quick cuts and bursting straight up the field.
Why wait until the end of the season? Hand Duke the National Offense Freshman of the Year award already. Denzel Perryman is a man. Run defense was great. Pass Defense absolutely awful. I don't think I've ever seen so many wide open check downs in my life. Chase Rettig is not Matt Ryan, but we sure made him look like it. The pass rush was absolutely non-existent. Special teams looked good. WR's looked good after a shaky start. The offensive line lived up to the high expectations, for one game at least. They were beasting out there. Stephen Morris I don't really have an opinion of. Duck and dunk passes every play, but that was the gameplan, and it worked. He played pretty solid considering that's not really his style of play but he made it work.
I think it was part of the game plan but I feel like the refusal of BC to walk their corners up even after giving up 7 yard passes repeatedly was a huge factor in how much of it we saw.
