yep, good news no matter how you slice it.... for now... just really really really hope Tannehill plays well and we get a couple early wins.
The longer we hold onto Moore, imo, the more his value is. and I want to make sure David is ok, see him take hits. Don't forget last year's surgery.
BenVolinPBP Garrard looked VERY good doing agility drills -- shuffling backwards and forwards in the pocket. No brace, only a sleeve on left leg
I dunno, if he's healthy I would think about cutting him so I don't have to guarantee his entire 2012 salary. Keep him on speed dial. If you trade Matt Moore, give him a call.
I'd keep an eye on Garrard and see how he does. Personally I'd be uncomfortable getting rid of Moore because that leaves us with an inexperienced starter, an injury prone backup, and an inexperienced third string QB. At least keeping hold of Moore gives us some kind of security if things go wrong, but if the deal is right for the team, then so be it because there are always QBs available on waivers and whatnot (eg. Chiefs picking up Orton last season).
I dont understand this mindset for 2012-13 season, nothing to secure, salvage, or protect. We are going with rookie QB and limited offensive playmakers, nothing to salvage should he falter or get injured. We are only going as far as Tannehill takes us. If that's playoffs, Moore adds no value, if its shorter than 16 games, Moore adds no value. Moore is gone following this season, so is Garrard for that matter, but doubt anything could be acquired for Garrard, but hope a pick can still be acquired for Moore. Ship him off asap. Moore's presence doesnt secure anything for us, compared to the value in return.
Fair point, Moore can give us some value in return whereas Garrard won't, but what would we get for him? Some say a fourth or fifth round pick, but I can't imagine it would be much more unless some team was really desperate. But my point was more meant that if Tannehill got injured then we'd be left with Garrard as our backup QB who has yet to prove he can take hits in a serious game, and then there is Devlin. Personally, I'd rather see us cut Garrard and keep hold of Moore to give us that security if Tannehill gets injured. Though another option would be for us to trade Moore, cut Garrard, bump up Devlin to backup, and sign a QB off waivers who might be an undrafted QB as another project. We could always pick up another Garrard type later on.
And the reality is, if Tannehill gets injured its a lost and wasted season anyway, the backup whether Devlin, Garrard or Moore wont matter really. So ship off Moore to get the pick asap. Saving salary to cut both is fine by me too, but if you can ship off Moore for a pick vs cutting, do it.
