I like Philbin but as long as Irelands here we have no chance to win anything. Guy couldnt draft a skill player to save his life.
Paul's doctor: "Sir, we could give you a very large amount of testosterone and make you as masculine as a normal male, or we could give you a very small dose of estrogen and turn you completely into a woman."
Eh, the thing has already been blown up, I'm just waiting to see where the pieces land. If anything, I'm chill with it, decision has been made to go in a different direction on offense and it takes time to make it work. We could win 5 games, may win less, or slightly more, but no real hopes for a playoff run this yr..I've accepted it.
i expect to struggle but hope we don't. if tannehill plays smart and throws catchable balls like he has done this pre season, and we lose because of our wrs, i won't be upset because i see it coming. hopefully i will be pleasantly surprised by our wrs. if tannehill makes poor decisions and doesnt throw catchable balls, i will be pissed. if our oline sucks, i will be pissed. if we dont have a good run game, i will be pissed. if our rush defense sucks, i will be pissed. if our pass defense sucks, i won't be pissed because i see that coming to. hopefully i will be pleasantly surprised by our secondary. basically i will only be pissed if we suck in areas that we should be good in. i will be extremely pissed if we dont address our needs next off season. i won't be pissed if we hit and miss on our draft selections and free agency signings next off season. as long as we try to address our needs, thats all i can ask for. but if we fail to try i will make a trip to miami to protest! lol
I'd be surprised if many we're to say they want the team blown up. That really hasn't been the demand/complaint. Its been about our teams weakness at a position that is critical for a rookie QB... Plus not to mention... how much can you really blowup something that is already a pile of rubble? lol
For me , blowing it up means restructuring your GM and direction . I selected "We'd have to play poorly the entire season before I'm ready to blow it up" ... for me that means if we play poorly , no real tangible evidence we will be a playoff team next year (**** the maybes , could be's , if's etc ) no substantial big time contributions from this years draft class and last years , then we make the change at the GM level. I actually don't think we will make that change though even if the proof on the field and production is not up to where I hope and think it should be. I think Ireland comes back next year regardless of what transpires unless we embarrass the owner and fans make it certain to him they hold him responsible.
Not necessarily. There's a difference between expecting catastrophe and not watching said catastrophe.
how many people would choose this season doesnt matter.... if we still had brandon marshall, yeremiah bell, chad johnson, or vontae davis? any or all of those combinations? just curious. seems like people think we have given up on this year because of the moves we have made and/or the people that we got rid of and havent replaced. i have felt that way but after further research can't fault the reasons we got rid of those people but think it is really stupid that we got rid of them with no plan to replace any of them this season. but i still refuse to give up on this year. u never know what will happen in todays nfl. i choose to be optimistic and i expect every season to matter.
We're going to be a depressingly bad football team, and then I'll be further depressed when the fanbase wants to give Ireland another year.
Well, we are trying to change offensive and defensive approaches in an offseason while also fielding a rookie QB and rookie HC. Just not expecting anything this year. I just want it to play out, and hopefully have Tannehill develop into something worthwhile.
I am a million miles from any edge. I don't get so worked up over wins and losses like I did when I was the age of most of you young fellas around here. I hope the Dolphins do good every week, but if they don't, I ain't jumping from any tall buildings or jerking the wheel into a bridge abutment at 80 mph. I still got my Ducks and the next great college QB, Marcus Mariota, and the next Heisman winner, or should be, in De'Anthony Thomas. I still got the Cincinnati Reds with like the 2nd best W-L pct in MLB at this time. Building their lead since the All Star break with their best player on the DL most of the time. I still got the Portland Trail Blaz....wait, never mind on the last one.
What's there to blow up? We need to be looking at filling the gaping holes on the roster. This season is about developing our young players and doing a damn good job in scouting for the upcoming draft; it's not about winning (sadly). It's pretty obvious just looking at the roster. Only 1 playmaker on offense in Reggie Bush, a thin secondary and defense, questionable o-line, and trash at the WRs.
Well most of the fanbase wanted Ireland fired 2 years ago, so you shouldn't be further depressed at least.
There is no edge. If you're team is poop, what can you do? You root for poop. You know who is at the edge? Madden 13. In what's their current Franchise mode, Miami team prestige is an F-. Ah, but who are they besides an unbiased over researched bunch of nerds. Sent from my iPad
Understood , and I selected one year . Playing it out means this year plus next year then? I would evaluate after this year , to me that is both fair and long enough for Ireland . If it is apparent that no real substantive improvement was made I would not entrust him with the assets we have for next year. Not the ideal situation to find the GM that meshes with an existing coaching staff , but I would rather attempt that than trust Ireland with what should be a defining off season.
I'm only about a mile from The Edge, though I can't say I like the amenities there... (UCF people will know what I'm talking about!)
Blow what up? There's nothing to blow up? I don't even know how to answer this poll. I doubt we're gonna give up on a rookie QB/HC after one season with no talent to work with. The only thing we can blow up is our GM so we can actually try to get some good players here.
Yeah! I know what you mean! I got my Buckeyes, we can go to a bowl game....oh, nevermind.... well, I got my Mets....oh, nevermind.... Anybody have a knife?
The team is already in the process of being rebuilt. Rookie starting at QB, new HC who hasnt yet coached a regular season game. Almost no money invested in the offense beyond this season. They ARE starting over. Why would you start from scratch one year, and then do the same thing again a year later?
Depends on what you mean by "blow it up". I won't hold Philbin's feet to the fire until next year. But if this season is a **** pile, Ireland should be gone. So I choose other: "Half blow it up (Fire Jeff Ireland) if the team sucks wind the majority of the season."
Thing is, if we play poorly against Houston and then the next 7 games, what difference will it make...you can't 'blow the whole thing up' in mid-season anyway. You play the season out, you find out who you have on the roster and start over again in January, that's the ONLY thing Ireland/Philbin can do. The one thing you want to see this year with the most fervor is how the individuals develop. How does Tanny show his wares? Which WRs come to the limelight? Does Martin develop into what we thought he would? Who takes a step backwards in their development... These are the questions we are looking at this year, wins not withstanding...
But that's the problem, Monst...What if Tanny seals the deal as a bonafide player, and Mathews and Hartline look good and Martin has a decent showing at this level and Jerry shows to be a player and Misi continues his development and Egnew shows to have the hands and ability we think he does and we still can't put things together regarding wins ?? If some of the questions we have right now can be answered on some of these 'developing' players, that does make a difference as to how you view what Ireland has been doing...
You're right that there could be a scenario where the team loses a lot of games but maybe this recent draft class looks real nice. If that were the case, I could certainly change my mind about Ireland. Tannehill obviously being the most important. Time will tell. But I still think if this season goes as poorly as I think it might, Ireland's failure to address many crucial positions will be to blame.
Not even remotely on edge. No matter what else happens, if Tannehill is the real deal, we're all set.
