ah...no. Just facts. What do you want me to say? Want me to lie? and yes. I would have done a better job. Not much of a feat, but yeah, I would have done better.
and it goes further. I was actually offered jobs in two professional sports franchises in TWO sports, while Ireland got in through nepotism.
Has anybody really thought of how ridiculous it is that this man is the General Manager of the Miami Dolphins?
You see that man in your avatar? You should replace him with a picture of me. He'd be nothing without me.
We've never beaten the Texans, ever. We're a young team starting a rookie QB that is going to need a lot time to mature. And he's starting behind an offensive line that is a work in progress at best, facing one of the most aggressive defenses in the NFL. Not to mention the weaonpons that the Texans have on offense. Texans 31 Dolphins 10. We get a TD late that makes the game look closer than it really is.
truth is that YOU WISH I was in charge. Team would be better. That is a fact, if you believe that better players = better team.
You seem to be missing the part where this is not an opinion. As members of this site, we make our opinions known on players and personnel. My opinions have been better over the years than the underwear washer's.
Well no, its not just about getting better players. There is a salary cap, so you have to get better players for less money than your opponents.
You see...if before the draft, you lobby for a player in a certain round and that player is on the board when we pick and then that player makes pro bowls.... you get credit for doing a better job than Ireland with that pick. although I will admit....I reached terribly for a certain TE in 2010. I wanted him at 73, and he went at 95.
Right, but neither of those will convince someone to take less money. So how are you finding players that provide value-added?
THE ARGUMENT: Me vs. Ireland I also know this city better than the underwear washer, so I would be better at selling it.
You know, I have to agree with Section here. I had this argument with someone the other day. Why is it that many people automatically assume that because these people are in a position of power that they know what they're doing. I come accross people that suck at their jobs on a daily basis. And some of these people are making big big bucks. Why is it out of the question that this is just another example? Why is it out of the question that a witty intelligent individual who studies and follows the game religiously on the side could be successful given the role of general manager of a team he's so passionate about? Especially given the resources and time he will be afforded once put in that position. Let's take Jerry Jones, for example. The guy is basically a glorified fan who has happened to build a great franchise. And he now has a team that is on the brink of the playoffs every year. I'm with Section. Give a very intelligent Dolphin fan who studies the game a sidekick capologist making 80K a year. Give him the resources of an entire scout team and a whole mess of interns cutting up college game film for you, and voila! The job isn't as ridiculously hard as some make it out to be.
The poll doesn't ask if we want the Dolphins to win (thats a no brainer of course we do) it asks if we think they can win. Dosent mean i wont be cheering for them. But let me ask you this.. How can u evaluate the team if you dont watch the game win or lose? I will watch because i love football win or lose so i can see for myself where the weaknesses are. It doesnt mean i stick my head in the sand and ignore the reality of how the team is. But hey we all know the old saying of "On any given Sunday" Go Phins!
I didn't switch from Dish back to Direct TV in time. They cannot do the install until 9-11. Outside chance someone else cancels an earlier install and I can get moved up to the 8th. Not counting on it though. I'll be watching after the fact on game pass I guess. Oh well, looks like Seattle @ Arizona for me at least for the afternoon game. I doubt Miami @ Houston will be the national game early.
It's true. There was not a single person in Dolphin world who thought we would win that game that day bro. No bearing I know but football can be a weird game sometimes. It will be a tall, tall order to beat the Texans on Sunday. Rookie,QB, Rookie HC, Hostile environment . I've said it time and time again and everyone knows this WCO has to stay out of third and long to be successful. Can't let them get on top of us early. Try and hang around. I'll have my twelve pack ready!
The line went from 7 to 13 , not a lot of confidence, and trying to attract enough Miami money to balance the sides. That is a lot of points.
Love Magic eight ball when predicting outcomes. How about we play the damn football game and really find out?
I think this game may be closer than expected as long as Tannehill manages the game. They're going to load up defensively to play the Texans run game and the play of Soliai will be a significant factor.
WOW! I can't wait to revisit this thread on Sunday, if the Dolphins pull out the upset... Just as the Texans did the first couple of times they beat us! Such negativity. Why is being optimistic not realistic? Anyone ever read David and Goliath?
Miami 63 Houston 0. Tanny throws 6 td's to Armstrong. In reality this is a really tough opening assignment. I think it is closer than people think, and I do think we can win. If I am a Houston fan, I am like crap, this team is due to win...
i think our defense will be better than people here think... if Dansby and Burnett are out there, we still have a top flight defense... I think our run defense will be a tough matchup for their run offense, and their passing offense can be contained... I think our running game will surprise them also, as long as we can keep the game close... I'll go out on a limb and say Dolphins 24 - Texans 19
I get it. But I am just being honest. Red Zone channel is much more entertaining than a foregone conclusion. They fall behind by more than 2 td's...I'm gone.
Have we ever beat them? Even with a better team, have we ever beat them? Now we come in as a rebuilding team that is vastly behind Houston in talent and skill....We get slaughtered.
Texans to win it. Head says we will win it comfortably, just can't see how you can move the ball on defense. Offensively I am worried about our rightside OL, but I think we can get enough going with Foster, Tate and Forsett that we'll get our playaction going and our young receivers will get some big plays while everyone worries about 'dre. My heart is terrified though, can't shake the bad old days of the 2-14 Texans. Texans 26 - Dolphins 10
