Hey all! I'm in a PPR IDP league that I've done with my family for the past 12 years. This year I had an INCREDIBLE draft. I'm feeling a bit delicate at QB (Romo), and TE (Fleener) but I'm absolutely STOUT at RB and damn nice at WR (Defense is a whole other animal) My issue is with the depth of my team. We only have 4 bench spots for our entire defense and offense. Right now I am at QB: Romo WR: Harvin WR: Jeremy Maclin WR: Reggie Wayne RB: Arian Foster RB: Jamaal Charles TE: Coby Fleener Bench: MJD Bench: Ben Tate Bench: Willis McGahee Bench: Rashad Jennings Defense: Plug and play, no worries here. I've been offered Jeremy Graham for Coby Fleener, and Jamaal Charles. I'm on the verge of doing it..it makes my team better in the long run I think. It could be bumpy for a few weeks until we see how MJD does after his holdout, but I still have McGahee waiting in the wings, and Ben Tate if need be. The biggest benefit of this trade is that it'd free up a bench spot. I'd be trading a TE and a RB for a stud TE. Last year in our format Graham put up 175 points (more than most WR's). That said, I looked at my team, and I don't really see any huge bye-week issues. Week 4 I'll have to make a choice between dropping a WR and picking up an option that week, or dropping Fleener (we should have a good idea about him by then), or going with an empty slot in my defense. Assuming that I can drop Rashad Jennings at some point I can fill my offensive roster for the rest of the season with that you see above. So should I 1. Make the trade 2. Keep what I have 3. Try to flip Romo+Charles for a better QB? I don't know how likely that is...Romo+Charles would command a top 5 QB IMO, and most people with the "sure fire" top 5 QB's don't want to trade them (Brady, etc.). I think it would be smart to turn some of my depth into higher-calibre starters, even if it means thinning my bench a bit. Thoughts?
I assume you mean Jimmy Graham and I would do it. I'm not as high as Jamaal Charles as some. He's coming off a major knee injury and will be splitting carries with Peyton Hillis (a favorite of the OC). Plus you have MJD who will be ready to go soon.
Do it....your WRs are weak and you could improve a good deal at TE. Honestly your draft strategy was majorly flawed IMO. Do yourself a favor and dump Jennings or trade Tate and get another WR. You shouldn't be concerned with Romo, you should be your WRs and lack of WR depth.
In a 12 team league i absolutely wouldn't not make that deal. Charles is a top ten rb option and he could easily outscore graham. Id keep your top two backs and look to package mjd or mcgahee with fleener for a te upgrade. Holdout players typically haven't played up to their own standards so mjd is every bit the risk charles is and hes played in no preseason games. At least you know charles is ready to go. You should also look for greg olsen or kyle rudolph...they're available in many leagues and imo will have better years then fleener. Shockey. No longer threatens Olsen's playing time and Rudolph is now starting as well.
I would do it. IMO Graham is a guy that almost guarantees you win the position every week. He is an unquestioned weekly starter. I like Charles, but odds are decent that you'll get as much or more production out of either MJD/Jennings. Charles may end up being a back-up for you. I'd trade a maybe back-up for a guaranteed starter and never look back.
Charles may have top 10 rush yards but won't have many TDs. Prob 4-5 at most. Hillis will steal all goaline carries plus a lot of catches because he has great hands. Don't forget McCluster who steals touches as well. I like Charles but dude has way too many rbs and needs to make room to improve other positions. I disagree. I think it ignores how deep the RB position is, Peyton Hillis's existence, and how few elite TEs in the league there are.
I strongly disagree with it being a bad draft strategy, and honestly don't think it could have turned out much better. I understand we're in an air-it-out league, but the difference between a #8 and #30 WR are pretty neglibible. In our scoring format Percy Harvin was the #4 WR in our league last year. While he's not as explosive as he used to be Reggie Wayne was a top 30 WR last year on a team with a HORRIBLE QB situation, and Maclin sat just shy of him. In the process, I was able to grab 3 RB's with top 5 potential, and totally lock up Houston and Jacksonville's RB's. WR is so ridiculously deep this year that I can plug and play a #2/#3 WR as necessary. You can't find that with RB's. That said I do agree that I would become stronger by moving Charles for Graham, am putting the trade in now. Thanks!
You have RB depth and went RB depth crazy. Guys like Jennings and Tate will never touch your starting lineup. I'd rather have a good WR on my bench and have a better TE. To have fleener as your starting TE means you also waited too long at TE just so you could have another RB on your bench who won't play. With small starting linups like you have it's better to have more balance. If you can only start 2 RB then having 4 on the bench with no depth seems like a bad a move....a move where you're going to have to drop one during bye weeks and injuries to qb, WR, or TE anyways
I would do it. I'm high on Willis McGahee. Also, Coby Fleener shouldn't be rostered in a 12 team league, especially one with as short a bnech as yours. There is probably better on the waiver wire anyway. Dwayne Allen will be the best TE in Indy this year.
also, as a fantasy QB Romo is pretty good. I don't give a **** if he never gets to the playoff if he puts up 4000 yards and 25 TDs
