I wonder what the percentage is for week 1. I wish i was a gambling man i would take the phins without a doubt but alas its not to be I chose yes because they will win. Yes i know we lack superstar talent however i believe Philbin looked at the schedule and said okay the hardest games we play this season will be at the start of the season. So we did not show much. In Preseason they ran no huddle but it was not really a uptempo pace. Tempo Tempo Tempo will be what wins the game for us. I expect it will take the texans a while to get a handle on our 4/3 3/4 system.
So, is the gameplan to throw where Kareem Jackson is and avoid Jonathan Joseph wherever he is? Would not surprise me if they target Jackson as well as Bradie James. They're going to have to schematically do that once they identify the man coverage tendencies of the Texans defense in order to create chunk plays and move the chains IMO. Guys like Charles Clay should be worked in between the hashes while Reggie Bush is used as a leak option out of the backfield in those instances; chip the threatening rush defender and then leak out into the flats or over the middle and force James to run with you. +1 for Miami. In the run game, I'd be surprised if they try to do a lot of running outside other than mix it in to keep HOU honest. Just run behind Pouncey. Defensively, it comes down to fundamental tackling and penetration. Paul Soliai has to play very well while the rest of the defense has to do THEIR job and not try to make up for someone else's. If the four run defenders (force, fill, support, contain) do their job and Soliai does his, Miami has a very good chance. Otherwise, they can pack up and go home IMO.
I was watching the Steelers play the Texans the other day just to evaluate OL play in the NFL and while watching Houston's OL, I noticed that they weren't doing great but enough. But I also noticed that the Steelers fill and support run defenders (the two in between the force [playside edge setter] and contain [backside edge setter]) were running like headless chicken. This is arguably the NFL's best defense and they were getting torn apart mainly because of lack of discipline. Casey Hampton did his thing since he's immovable but they did not and it cost them big.
Do you guys think that last year team was better then this year? We lost 23-13 vs Houston with D Thomas rushing for 107 yds and Henne had 1 Int. with 153 yds. for some reason I feel that we are more competitive this year and we can surprise a lot of people.
I'll sign off and say we can win this football game. Would that make be a bad guy if we lose. Scares me that Foster may not play. We have game planned for him. It's those guys we don't see that carve us up. I'm jumping out of my skin tonight for the start of the season. Screw thinking about losing before the game is played. I'll deal with that late on Sunday if need be.
Quick passes move the sticks. Play fast and take shots against press. You know those Tex cb's are going to be physical and over excited. Might get a PI a few times. We are going to need a couple of TO's in this football game. SS will be tested. You get into into the fourth quarter with DT fresh and pounding the football, good kicker in Goldie. We have a chance.
Hard (pup tent) to read your posts with that avatar drawing full attention, on topic, no way we beat the Texans. Developing Tannehill and our WR corp will be the most important things we accomplish this season. We have accumulated a decent number of draft picks in 2013, only then could we complete the talent/players needed to be a force in this league. IMVHO it's going to be a sad/long season, with seeing Tannehill and possibly 1-3 of our WR's develop as IMO being the highlight of the season.
That would require watching no football at all on Sunday. The reason I cannot view the Dolphins game live is because Direct TV's install person cannot get here until 9-13. I had Direct TV for years. I went overseas, and let my relatives who were taking care of my house, pay the bill every month and watch it. Then in late 2010, they let the service lapse, and a couple months later signed up for Dish. So, I came back this year and found I have Dish. Then I procrastinated on switching back to Direct TV. I'll watch Seattle probably. Looking forward to seeing how Wilson does as their QB.
I'm expecting a slaughter. I just hope we can linger around and make it somewhat a game for a while. Nothing worse than that feeling in the pit of your stomach after witnessing an opposing first possession drive that we cannot stop. It doesn't lead to pretty things for the remainder of the game.
The people who make their living putting odds on NFL football games obviously were not impressed by what they saw from the Dolphins during the preseason. The opening line for the Houston-Miami games before preseason was the Texans favored by 6.5. The latest odds for the game are the Texans favored by 13. I am not a bettor, but I certainly think that the people who make their living setting the odds on NFL games certainly understand that the Dolphins have little or no chance of beating the Texans this weekend.
No team in the NFL has "no chance" of winning. Still in Seattle the local radio station is doing a survivor league and over 50% of 10,000 people chose the Texans. The national view of the Dolphins is very poor.
You are correct, no NFL team has no chance of winning. I stand corrected. I was merely pointing out that the view of the Dolphins from a betting public has gone down over the past month and a half. To go from a 6.5 point underdog to a 13 point underdog in basically six weeks, after playing no games which really count. This certainly says a lot, in regards to the negative view of the Dolphins, by those who make their living setting betting odds.
I think a lot of it has to do with Hard Knocks, which puts Miami in the collective consciousness more. Cleveland is only a 9 point underdog and I think they have just a big of a chance of beating Philly as Miami does the Texans.
I agree with you on both points. I think HK's has a lot to do with the negative viewpoint of the Dolphins nationwide. I also agree that the Browns should be as big an underdog against the Eagles, as the Dolphins are against the Texans. The fact the Browns are not a double digit underdog to the Eagles is actually a big surprise to me.
As for the charges against me, I am unconcerned. I am beyond their timid lying morality, and so I am beyond caring.
I am a Cowboy/Dolphin fan and I thought Dallas had zero chance to beat the Giants....you never know what the team will look like when its for real. you just never know.
It's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror... Horror has a face... and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies!
Big difference Dallas went out and got a shutdown corner, moved up to draft Claiborne, Possibly has the best pass rusher in the NFL, Ogletree would be our number 1 WR and he is their 3rd, Murray is much better RB than Bush. Dallas has a lot of talent lacking in some areas (Oline and Safety) but they should be contending for the NFC East Title.
I agree. If the Dolphins had the Cowboys roster, I would certainly think they would have a solid chance of going into Houston and coming out with a win. Unfortunately the Dolphins roster is no where close to the Cowboys roster at this time. Therefore I just don't see the Dolphins being 1-0 after the game tomorrow.
Oh man if we had Dallas's talent we would be challenging the Patriots for the division. I think Dallas has the talent to be a 1 or 2 seed out in the NFC they just kinda fall apart towards the end of the year. I agree I'd love to get a win on Houston but its just not going to happen unless injuries.
no... it's possible. Just don't answer the phone, go on the internet, talk to friends... etc.. go see a movie er double feature.
