I don't think it will tell us anything of substance Shou. Houston is one of the favourites in the AFC, we are going 4-12. If we beat them it will be more about what they did then what we did. Now, if we beat them and go 3-1 in September we can look back at the game and it will tell us more then it will immediately afterward. This is a very long winded way of me saying, "talk to me October 1st".
To me definitive means it won't change or improve or prove to be a fluke. So if the team or individuals suck or play great, I don't see it as fixed.
that's just my point, I don't think it will tell us anything any more definitive than that. This will generate more specific responses the later in the season we go.
Bess looked a lot faster and shiftier. It would be nice to see him find another gear this season. This game could prove whether he's taken a step forward IMO.
Freud's mystic world of meaning needn't have us mystified It's really very simple what the psyche tries to hide: A thing is a phallic symbol if it's longer than it's wide As the id goes marching on.
It doesn't matter who we play. we should learn something about the pieces of the puzzle this front office has given us. mainly the QB's decicions, the wr's catches or drops, and how the secondary plays.
Here's what it told me: - It told me that Tannehill is still starting down his targets. It also told me that Tannehill will be a good quarterback if given time and help - It told me that you can't expect to win football games when you've got the WR group of the Miami Dolphins - It told me that you can't expect to win football games when you've got the secondary of the Miami Dolphins - It told me that you can't expect to win football games when you've got the LBs of the Miami Dolphins - It told me that Reggie Bush earned his contract - It told me that the offensive line got away with giving too little effort for way too long - It told me that Jonathan Martin will struggle for longer than most people thought - It told me that I want Chris Clemons replaced even sooner than I want Naanee replaced Come to think about it, it didn't tell me anything I didn't already know.
Clemons was hard to watch. I have never seen such a lack of awareness from a safety since Reshad. Our offensive line was pretty offensive. In what world is allowing D-Linemen to get their arms up considered good blocking? Don't think we can sign Plaxico Burress with 4m in cap room though.
Clemons has been awful since he first suited up. I get replacing Bell—he can't play football well anymore, and he's always been pretty one-dimensional at that—but man… Clemons is like Ireland playing a joke on the roster.
The funny thing is ... I've been saying that since he started his first game, and got ripped apart for it
Tanny needs get the ball above/between the DT's. That was the difference in the game. Sorry if ya can't see it that way. 24 points off TO's will kill you 100% of the time.
Well they did look okay against a Super Bowl contender. I was at the doctor's for the 2nd half though, but if they cut down on the turnovers, it would have been more competitive. Four straight turnovers will end you, unless you have Brady or Rodgers. We'll see when they play the Raiders, who should be an easier opponent than the Texans who are seemingly a super bowl contender. But every game will be tough with these WR's and secondary...I'm wondering why Lamar Miller was inactive. He can't be as bad a runner or screen pass catcher as our WR's are. I think bringing in Miller would help to get the ball to Bush more. Thomas and Miller need to be used to get Bush some breaks so we can use him more with passes, but using him too much then teams will adjust. Guess they need to find the balance. He was the leading receiver today...Hartline had more yards, but Bush only a little less and more catches.
Tannehill needs outside options so the DTs and DEs can't just jam the middle and jump up and basically be guaranteed a tipped pass. What Houston played today was "let's just really close his inside passing lanes" because they knew there wasn't anyone on the outside to beat them one on one. And they were right.
There are certain individuals on this forum who refuse to acknowledge the fact that the Dolphins have severe weaknesses at several positions on this team. Safety is just one of these positions. It is easier for these individuals to rip you for pointing out the obvious, because they refuse to accept that Ireland has done a lousy job as the teams GM. By the end of this season, I suspect that a lot of those same individuals will be telling us how happy they are with the new GM Ross just hired. Fortunately the next GM will have plenty of cap space, along with several picks in the early rounds to actually start rebuilding the Dolphins in an effective manner.
Well, if we're going that route, I've been calling him arguably the worst player on the roster for almost that long.
Well, at least we're Chris Clemons soulmates then I remember last season when people wondered why Clemons didn't start, and I was like, wait a minute, you want him to start. Seriously?
I remember when he got toasted by Jacoby Jones, and he shouldn't have been on the field then, let alone now.
The release of Marshall, Davis and even Ochocinco as head cases without acquiring viable replacements tells me that the philosophy was to turn as many of them as possible into future draft choices. In other words, both Ireland and Philbin have purposely blown this team up and are starting from scratch next season. This season has been thrown in the garbage. We have purposely hit bottom. My only problem is that this makes next offseason one of the most important in the history of the franchise, and I'm not even close to sure that I trust Ireland or rookie coach Philbin to bring it off successfully. This is especially true because of the number of holes we've got to fill. We won't be able to do it in one or even two offseasons. But we may never do it with these two guys at the helm. I will be very interested in seeing what adjustments this coaching staff is able to make in the next few games.
Told me what I figured out at the end of 2009. That Ireland is in WAY over his head as a GM and has no idea what a football player is. He is a stat watcher. Like Al Davis was in the last 10 years.
The problem is, there isn't anybody they can bring in whom I suspect you could trust any more. It's not like there are stud head coaches and GMs standing out there in the unemployment line, and anybody unproven is just as untrustworthy.
None who want to come here, anyway. The only thing that gives me hope is that if we continue as we are now, it's really tough to miss on the number one overall pick in the draft.
Plenty of people want to come here. We just have a pretty disturbing record of hiring the wrong ones.
That's not a reason to maintain status quo - you keep looking until you find the right person. Another losing season and it will be hard to think that Ireland is the right person. Would hiring another "rookie" GM be a risk? Absolutely, but it's a risk you need to seriously consider taking.
It verifies that when our receiving crew goes up against decent defensive backs, Tannehill will have little resource at his disposal. Bess and Hartline showed up today, but are limited in the game changer department. That second and third round could have brought receving help. In stead, a offensive tackle with much to learn, same for the defensive end, who lacks in pass rushing skills right now, and an inactive Egnew. As stated by most media sources, some more informed than others, the front office did not surround Tannehill with necessary skill positions to support him. Thankfully, Bush, Bess, and Fasano keep it from being a complete travesty.
