whether you like cam or not is he coming back? I'm just curious what people think. I for one think he is.
I think Cam is coming back. The only way I see him not being here is if Wayne sells the team, and we end up with a new GM who cleans house. I sometimes don't care for some of the calls Cam makes, but given all the injuries he deserves another chance in 2008. He doesn't seem to be a guy who is quitter like Nick Satan.
so far 5 say yes and 0 say no. Interesting I've heard some speculation around this issue but I think that win got him another year. In regards to romans comment I agree I see cam for some reason being a guy that wouldn't quit on a rebuilding process. I believe he will be in Mia until in retires or gets fired.
I find it hard to believe that the one win against the Ravens saved his job---if it was in trouble. Now beating the Pats? I think that would save his job....hey I guess anything is possible. I usually would never favor dumping a coach after one year and really don't here but I couldn't fault Wayne H. for cleaning out the front office and coaching staff after this year. Injuries happen to every team, granted ours have been awful but this team should still have won a few more games and we shouldn't have been doormats for teams like the jest and buffalo. Cam might be a decent coach but is he ever going to lead a team to a title?
Yes, he will be back. No, I dont want him back. No, I dont think he deserves another year. Cam is in no way a good head coach and has the career HCing record to prove it.
i say he's back. he should get another year to start with a clean slate again, get all our star players back in there. if we have another good draft, pick up a good FA or two and the season starts and were 0 and 5.. then he's gone. but i definately think he's going to get a second season
Tough Call - I voted yes, but it's 51-49 right now, imo. I think part of it depends on how they play the next two weeks. It is a tossup right now. If the Dolphins play competitively the next two weeks, I think he'll be back. If they lose 48-3 to the Pats and if they lose to the Bengals in a game that's not real close - I think he won't be back.
I hope he isn't back. I just don't think he's got it as a head coach. And, as I've mentioned several other times, I'm not even totally sold on him as a great offensive coordinator. Having L.T. in San Diego sure can make you look good and how many of us heard of Cameron before then? Sure, injuries were a problem this year. But how many of the injuries can be blamed on the extremely soft camp Cameron ran. And remember how out of shape the players (particularly on defense) looked at the beginning of the season? Jason Taylor was running off the field, it seemed, every other play! His in game decisions have been bordering ridiculous. His adjustments are non-existent. And the teams preparation has looked pretty poor. It was nice to win the game against Baltimore. But one win doesn't give him a pass IMO. Especially considering we had a lot of luck in the game. A LOT. In fact, a bad decision by Bellick of not going for the TD at the end of regulation is what saved us. THEN, Stover missed what was, for him, a routine FG. Anway, that's beside the point... I know it's not a great idea to contiuously make changes with the coaching staff, but in this case, I'll make an exception. Cameron isn't taking us anywhere, IMO.
If they beat the Pats or keep it close I would let him stay. Otherwise I would seriously look to upgrade the coaching position by making a run at Cowher.
Cam deserves to come back for another year. I believe he's a quality HC and will get the team to perform in the future. However, give him 3 years to get the team to be competitive; after that I beleive a SB win is possible.
I think Cam will be back 60%-40% chance of that happening IMO. I don't post that out of confidence in Cam's abilities, rather out of the fact that some poor slob of a HC is going to have to take it on the chin while we rebuild and at the very least, Cam should be able to develop a QB for us during that time. Injuries, gaffs, blurry chain of command on offense, Dom's inflexibility, Armstrong's failure to develop any talent on ST, all of these things have led us to where we are this season. Fortunately all of those things can be improved. So "yes" Cam will be back, I'd like Marty S, but we will have Cam doing his impersonation of a clam on the sidelines next season IMO.
He is a 1st year HC, has been thrown to a team with extreme amounts of injuries, and is trying to fix an offense that has looked at best mediocre for the last 10 years. He deserves 1 more year.
No doubt he comes back. 2 things 1: No way a coach can turn a sinking ship around in 1 year....never happened at any level 2: If we keep changing things, it isnt ever going to get fixed...ever.... (See point 1)
I really am taken back by the fact that there are so many that wants this man's head after just 1 year... Especially with the mess that he inherited! Seems that most of you were expecting a team that could have challenged for a playoff spot this year... I know that the losses are hard to accept... I have struggled hard with them as well... But I will NEVER blame this season on CAM as any other coach of your wildest dreams wouldn't have done much better this year with this team... Had it been Parcells, Cowher, Marty or any other coach, I honestly believe that we would still be in this situation... Maybe a couple of more wins, but the same mess... Then those that are calling for CAM's head would be saying that we shouldn't have hired and OLD RETREAD and that they have lost their coaching edge or some other questionable tirate... Bottom line is that many expected a 6-10 from last year to be in the hunt this year... And I am sorry to break it to you all that believed this, it wasn't going to happen REGARDLESS of who the head coach was...
Exactly, not to mention consistency is key for this lost franchise. He deserves atleast one more season to prove his worth. After that, we can then re-evaluate the situation.
IMHO if CAM is the best option at this point to make the team better then he should stay. Someone post a message a few weeks back that we should not make change, just to make a change. I've been highly critical of him all season, but with all stuff that happened to the club in the last 5 years or more we difinately need some stability.
WOW I'm glad a lot of you guys have NO control over the situation. How could you want to have the mans head after the season he went thru. 1. cam loss 6 games - count them 6 games by 3 points. All of them in which the defense let the team down. We win those games and we are .500 right now. 2. We have no idea what we have in cam right now. He lost his QB that he felt comfortable with. He lost his stud RB that was killing the league up until the pont that he got hurt. he lost his co leader in the secondary in the 1st game of the season. then he went thru the most part of the season with guys off the street and 4th string players. he lost his leader on defense period in Zach and his probowl DE (don't get me wrong I LOVE JT - BUT HE CLEARY DOES NOT DESERVE TO GO) did nothing all season. I can go on and on and believe me I'M NOT MAKING EXCUSES FOR THE GUY becasue he should have been good enough to win most if not all of thoses 6 games that he lost by 3. but you have to give the guy a chance.
