Its Jets week and after an impressive performance there is some hope. Though I'm sure Jets fans expect this game to be a gimme...just like in '08, '09, '10, and week 17 last year, ya know? Their defense is still pretty good, though you never really know what Jets are going to show up. Just hope our poor secondary doesn't make Sanchez look like an elite QB. I don't expect much from them on the ground, since the Texans and Raiders are better in that department. Oh yeah, and Sparano (with a few Dolphins castoffs) is back. Expect numerous fist pump references this week. And someone on the Fins better make Tebow fumble. I wonder if this game might sell out when you have to add the Gator fans & Tebow worshipers to the regular Jets fans that go. At least they aren't honoring his former team this time... And let's hope it's nice and hot and humid...those dark green jerseys won't be fun in the 2nd half if so.
This is the test for this team to see if were an 8-8 or longshot at playoffs.............or whether we are that 4-12/5-11 team. This game should answer that question.
Sanchez was what 33 percent today..I think if you play man against him it takes away his ability to use misdirection to his ad vantage, and makes him be more accurate..good luck running on this defense, and good luck stopping it.
I don't remember a week 3 game that had this much importance! Specially with the AFC East being tied and the pats playing the Ravens in Baltimore! If we lose, Sanchez will have to beat us in the air. Hopefully our pass rush will help out our secondary. Tannehill will not only be tested because our O-line hasn't been consistent in pass protection, but he will be tested with several blitzes. I just hope we don't abandon the run if we ever get behind.
Honestly, if the Phins win this game and then lose every game the rest of the year I'll still be happy. I just want to win this game. F the Jets. I want nothing more than to stomp that team and dominate Sparano's offense. I just don't wanna lose to him here in Miami.
I would expect the Jets to play a little desperate. They might even drop a respect card. Still though, our guys aren't going to be bullied by them and I kinda trust Philbin's staff a little more to have a solid scheme. Hopefully, Philbin's scripted plays keeps us in it 'til the second half. The heat is still an advantage. I nearly threw up when thinking about that hit by Vernon in the second half. I mean, poor whats-his-name. There were a lot of grotesquely painful faces on the Raider's player faces in the second half. Just throw it to whoever Yeremiah is covering. That's a matchup waiting to be exploited. I like our chances to at least hang...
The only thing that concerns me is their corners against our wide receivers. That is their biggest advantage. Hopefully Armstrong is healthy and provides us with a vertical threat for this one because we will need it. Otherwise their defense looks pretty beatable. They were beat to the outside by slow lumbering running backs, didn't create all that much serious pressure against a mediocre Steeler line and just overall didn't look very good.
I think we'll open things up there as long as we keep using Reggie and Lamar, especially in the passing game. That's our only real mismatch on offense.
While I don't disagree, I liked how the offense line really timed out their draws. The playcalling is allowing the offensive line to show some savvy. I know, even I can't believe I have the balls to offer an intelligent musing opinion about nuance...
I expect a good, close-ish kinda game. But I also see us winning this. Hate to necro some old thread, but I even called it crazy for us to be 4-2 by our bye-week. I'm still stickin to those guns. I am a little concerned with the secondary, there have been some numbers put up on us so far, but the rest looks pretty darned promising. A lot of you will point out no big names on the receiving corps, but so far they haven't been all too shabby. I am a happy, optimistic fan right now. Let's go boys!
This will be a close game. We are better than people think and the Jets are better than how they appeared yesterday. Pittsburgh was pissed off, playing in their home opener. Jets are decent, but not good enough to go into Pittsburgh and win. If we can run the ball, we win this game.
This is all that really needs to be said I hope we kill em!!!! I dont want to see Sparano getting a gatorade shower on the sidelines if they win, cuz you know the Jets will do that.
This will surely be a tough game! Our pass-D is pretty bad so far. Our pass-O is a W.I.P. Reggie is a BEAST! Sparano is a big asset to them, as far as the trenches, but I have a really hard time seeing him as a viable OC. Turnovers and the LOS will be the keys this week. Our pass rush has been pretty bad so far as well. Wake needs to go into BEAST mode this week! He REALLY needs to show up! Fasano and Bess need to have big games this week as well. That being said... CRUSH the stinkin' Jets!
Sparano is competent OC. That makes him not stepping in as HC with our offense under Henning all the more egregious.
This will be the weakest run game they've seen so far. Also the weakest QB they've seen. There could be concern about how Tebow will be used. Embarrassing Sporano's ****ty playcalling will be very sweet. Now how Tannehill does will be the question. I'm sure Brian Hartlines performance won't go unnoticed and he might have to endure Revis Island. Devone Bess has to get open more. I think all Dolphans remember how the Sanchize played against the Dolphins on New Years Day this year. I think the Dolphins have an excellent chance of winning this game.
I'm hoping the team can capitalize on the momentum from the Raiders win heading into week 3 against the Jets. I think we can win it. I hope we win it, because I hate the Jets with every fiber of my being. There, I feel better.
BTW I'd like to ad the reason I hate the Jets more than any other team in the league is the utter hypocrisy of Rex Ryan. Anyone remember that Monday Night game 3 years back where the Jets ran the Wildcat through the throat of the Jets. It was byfar the best Dolphins moment I've experienced since they made the playoffs last. It got the team back in the running after an 0-3 start until Chad Henne went Chad Henne late in the season. Rex Ryan responded with calling the Wildcat a gimmick. What an Effin' Sore Loser this ******* is. Later that season they beat the Jets in a game they were getting dominated but Ted Ginn (Remember that guy?) ran back two kicks. After the game Bart Scott sarcastically claimed the Dolphins were a great team. Look at the Jets now? A shell of the defense they had, A ****ty running game and the same tired QB. They've brought in the Godfather of the NFL Wildcat and a sideshow in Tebow. If Tannehill and Bush show any of the poise they showed yesterday the Dolphins should win this game, no question.
Anyone know if Revis is in or out? They tried to act like it was a game time decision yesterday but, I think that was BS.
You are missing the true genius here. The dolphins have purposely been asking Naanee to tank the first two games so the Jets won't bother covering him in week 3. personally, I see Fasano's role as critical this weekend.
Hillarious, but nah, that's why Armstrong didn't play yesterday... they wanted to save him and develop some chemistry, to unleash the speed on the JEST!
Dustin Keller was out against the Steelers. Not sure if he'll be playing on Sunday. Obviously we're always weak against tight ends. Jets are better than the Raiders but worse than the Texans who may be the best team in the AFC, so this is interesting. Dolphins currently the 2nd best rushing offense behind Buffalo (go figure, Dolphins & Bills are 1-2 in a stat for now) and 4th best run defense. Don't let up this week please. Run game did well against the Texans, so I expect a better performance against the Jets than in week 1. Would like to see some screens. Bills gained 195 yards against the Jets. So no excuse in the run department, have to capitalize.
I see a similar gameplan going into this game. The key difference is that the JEts D is getting old, and they would tire out in the heat and humidity faster. Marky Mark cant carry the Jets to a win and their WR corps is just as thin as ours, make him beat us. Tebow aint running on us, Greene aint running on us. Sanchez will be running from us. Tannehill should hit the film room and study all of Ryan's blitz packaages. That does worry me.
I know one thing, if I see dansdy doing that lazy jog towards a play just because someone already has them wrapped up but not down, i'm gonna be throwing chit! We have got to see some fire from that guy or he can be a nice 3rd round pick hanging on Irelands wall for all I care.
I think this will be a great week for the Fins. Defensively, this is a great match-up. The Jets lack a true air game which plays in our favor since the D is not doing so hot against the pass. On the other hand, we should be able to neutralize Greene (and Tebow and the wildcat) with our TOP 5 RANKED rushing defense. All eyes will be on the continued success and development of the offense. I think Tannehill will be the difference maker. If he continues NOT to turn the ball over and the line plays as beastly as they did in the 2nd half against Oakland, the Jets are gonna fly out of South Florida at 1-2 and this NJ Dolphins fan is going to be happy as hell!
not sure where this comes from. when healthy, S Holmes, Keller and S Hill is a pretty decent, but not great, WR corps. At this moment, their passing attack has outperformed ours. but, I think we win the game because of the other factors: running game, run defense.
I hope to hell we win this game. I can't stand the Jets or their fans. It's going to be tough, though. I think the Jets will bring their A game and I hope Philbin and the other coaches have a competent gameplan to minimize our weaknesses.
That's actually pretty interesting. I wonder how much back and forth they have considering they play the same position. One thing I really really hope we don't see is diving at the ankles of Tebow the way we dove at ankles yesterday trying to tackle. If that happens it's going to be a LONG day.
I would use decent as well. But I'm not sold on Sanchez. He just won't get to that status that Jets fans think he will. While agreed their air game has outperformed us so far: I agree, but the season is young and they have more tools at wideout. That being said, I just don't think highly of their corps. Completely agreed the game comes down to rushing and defense.
its so annoying to read the threads at ganggreen, they have like 3 threads for miami and given the fact that we beat them pretty regulary the last few years, they sure seem to be pretty cocky about this game....well see how this old defense of them will feel by the time the 4th quarter has arrived.....
