Seems every pass play to him is down the sideline. Very rarely do you see him making a catch that isn't a miraculous grab along the sideline or one in stride down the sideline. Come to think of it, I don't recall much of him every catching a ball over the middle...short or deep.
I really hate Hartline as any sort of main option. He has great hands but is terrible in every other aspect of his game in my opinion. He doesn't have the ability to work the middle, he drifts back to balls instead of coming back hard, he doesn't have the athletic skills to consistently get deep and win those battles. If he does it will ALWAYS be a double move or back shoulder fade. Hartline is great if you want a guy who can only work the sidelines and will disappear against even a halfway decent corner. I personally don't want that.
Hartline is well-rounded in terms of route tree, but he's got stuff he is really good at that is his bread and butter.
I say forget experience and start Hartline, Bess, and Rishard Matthews. Matthews was the only one looked like he could run more than one route albeit against 2nd and 3rd team defenses while having decent games when given the opportunity. Is there any particular reason otherwise than he's a rookie or is not performing well in practice that he hasn't been activated yet?
He needs a third leg surgically implanted so that when he inevitably starts to fall down, he can stick out this third leg and keep going. Tripod FTW!
We get it. You wouldn't draft Hartline on your fantasy team, and it's an absolute scandal and a crying shame that there's really no one else on the roster who fills that role. It'll be ok. I'm not sure what kind of fantasy world you think exists where Hartline's prod comes solely through the haplessness of his opponents.
If we had a legitimate #1 Hartline would catch 70 for 1,000+. Wait, he is on pace to exceed all those numbers.
I'm pretty sure if Carpenter makes that kick, you guys would be praising Hartline as a gritty and clutch performer. Besides, my brother Isaac kinda resembles him... Hahahahahahaaaaa! He's been posting some pretty douchey pics on facebook, lately...Tough love
^^ lol wut? As for Hartline, I think he is really underrated. My one knock on him is he really isn't much of a YAC receiver, but he is reliable, makes plays, adjusts to the ball, and generally puts his QB in a good situation. Great #2 WR IMO.
I can't, he lives in LA. This is reality to him. I can't just shatter his sensibilities...No,no, I have to set this one up Think of it as me climbing to the top rope.
Wait, wait...This is the best one I could find of him looking like Brian Hartline. Bwahahahahahaaaaa! It's a feckin' cage match now!
