With the Barry Jackson tweet rumoring Legedu Naanee's impending release, I wanted to start a "Save The Legedu" movement. It starts right here in this thread. Some of you may be skeptics and need convincing. Here are the reasons why Legedu must be saved: 1) He's a stronger road player, in hostile environments with his catch this season coming on the road. 2) Legedu Naanee is 220lbs. Ernest Wilford was 220lbs, Patrick Turner was 220lbs. Roberto Wallace was 220lbs. 3) 4) As a sixth year player, he is ready to have a breakout year. The first five he was honing his craft. He had the best season of his career in 2011, catching 44 passes for 467 yards and a TD with Carolina. 5) "Just Give Me The Damn Ball" Legedu has let it be known he wants the ball more. He is ready to step up. The only reason he isn't more successful is that he isn't getting way more opportunities. 6) Naanee plays on Miami’s punt, punt return and kickoff return units. 7) 8) We could be sitting on a Pro Bowl Free Safety and not even realize it. 9) He is tied, at 19.0 yards per catch, for the 23rd highest yards per catch in the NFL (thanks Clean). Tied for 3rd as WR with most fumbles. 10) "Legedu Naanee is signed for 1 years / $700k with the Miami Dolphins" which makes him an absolute steal relative to other #1WRs if you start him as our #1WR. However, if we play him as a #5 or #6, then he would be OVERPAID relative to the league average. He should be this week's honorary team Captain. Once he rebounds from this little slump, he will be the next Brandon London.
Maybe, but it certainly fits Ireland's past pattern with big receivers (see Wilford, Turner, Wallace). honestly, Naanee had a season above his usual trend last year and Ireland was rolling the dice that this was an 'up arrow' player poised to break out. The caveat was what Chris pointed out: he disappeared too often. And it happened again this preseason and now during the season. By the way, I like the chair in your sig pic.
He should be tested for ball-allergy. Seriously though, we need to keep him for when he turns the corner. Or beats one. SAVE NAANEE
It's not what you think
Not sure Hogan adds anything new to the cadre we have, to be honest. He really disappeared vs #1s and 2s. Even more so than Hartline disappeared against Revis and Cro.
Hogan? The guy is not that good.... HBO showcases him in 1 Hard Knocks episode and the guy is suddenly Ed McCaffery.
The plan is a new one after every loss. Hopefully this one can hang around for a month or so at least.
As down as I am on Naanee, the human in me hopes he can turn it around and become a productive NFL player and lead himself a great fulfilling life. Doesn't seem likely however.
Well actually with that reference to him being a safety in High School, why not give him practice time at corner during the week. It's not that unusual a move these days, and he clearly has a knack for causing incompletions and jarring the ball loose. He has good size and athletic ability, so seriously, why not?
Transitive property: Legadu fumbled the ball after a reception. You have to catch a pass to have a reception. Therefore Legadu can catch! Save Legadu. and... Bring back David Boston!
The OP does not rise to the level of Jonathan Swift's A Modest Proposal, but certainly has shown a wonderful aptitude for the art of Satire! Absolutely... We must not preclude our team's the opportunity of witnessing this paragon of pass receptive skill and potential in action. It could be educational, with overtones of delusional and illusional.
FYI - Barry Jackson still isn't on Twitter. Miami Herald actually confirmed there's a fake out there this morning.
I still don't think that was a catch and fumble. Coulda sworn you have to make a football move for it to be a catch, he went to tuck it and dropped it. How many steps did he take? Looked like he landed, went to take one step and ball was out. While I am ranting on that, how was that blatant arm bar on Bess not called PI? I don't care if the defender looked for the ball or not, you can't arm bar a receiver. As for SS pushing Fitz in endzone, well it was within 5 yards Oh yeah, demote Naanee and promote Mathews, do it now!!!!!
Keep him on the roster just so we have someone to vent about all season. I think it might be that kind of season.
That fumble was not his fault. The invisible, all pro safety in him jarred the ball loose with a ferocious hit, causing him to fumble the ball. He is lucky he escaped without a concussion.
The voices told Legedu to fumble that ball. "It's not your time yet," they told him. Legedu thought that his opportunity to make a game winning play would come again, believing it couldn't be a simple catch to move the chains against a team such as Arizona. Nay, Legedu is saving his "big moment" for when we play in the spotlight. Just wait, dolfans, just wait.
