Moore is great at that, and then also not missing the tackle. He usually at least gets his hands on the punt returner, to slow him down for the rest of the coverage unit. Pruitt was also much better at it than Naanee for that matter. It looked to me like they had Carroll in Moore's spot as right punt gunner while he's been out.
Gaffney was always one tough sob Iv'e seen him take hits that would bench some and jump straight up and shake it off to almost give the D no satisfaction.
I thought Philbin was allowing the position coaches to determine number of snaps for the backups to rotate in, or was that just in preseason?
The only thing that would have made this news better would have been if this was a Hard Knocks episode!!!!!! "Come to my office, take a seat on the couch Mr. Nanee"
I hope they don't give 19 to Gaffney. He's worn 86 and 10 before. 10 is open and 86 is Matthews. He'll probably wear 10.
If the latter is the case, just add it to Ireland's dead money hit parade! P.S. Good riddance to Naanee.
The ultimate test to Naanee's suckiness would be for him to go to New England and still suck. That being said, I will laugh if he ended up on fist pumper and toe sucker's offense in NY. edit: Also, are Richard Marshall and Marcus Thigpen the only remaining FAs on the roster now (not UDFA)?
He's been in offenses from similar trees with similar concepts and play designs. Anthony Armstrong said there was a fair amount of similarities but the terminology was completely different and it wasn't super close.
One good thing is the timing. Gaffney does have the benefit of the bye week coming up as a means of gaining an extra week in the system without having to play or possibly miss a game. I doubt he sees any action this week, if he does it may be a hand full of plays. The following week I expect him to be on the field for double digit plays and after the bye week, he should be about 80% ready to go. I say 80% because he was injured, so his stamina is likely not where it needs to be even at that point. His familiarity with the offense will help, but for his stamina and ability to function with a lesser degree of compared with that of his team mates.
I agree with all of that. It would have been prudent to lock him up for two years even right now as they sign him. He is far from tread worn IMO. He's been in the league since '02, but the past 3 seasons have been his best 3.
Health was the only thing that kept them from signing Gaffney sooner but it has nothing to do with not cutting Legedu, IMO. Or at least it's not a valid excuse. They had six wide receivers PLUS Marcus Thigpen who essentially is a wide receiver.
For any who might want to see Gaffney highlights he is #10
Man I was combing through this to see if anyones else mentioned it! Please not 19, I was thinking #10 as well. Here's to hoping!
OmarKelly profile OmarKelly Mike Sherman said he's hoping Jabar Gaffney's understanding of the west coast offense will speed up contribution AdamHBeasley Jabar Gaffney will wear No. 10.
That plus Gaffney may have been still hoping the Pats would pick him up . In addition he may have been impressed with Tannys performance after last weeks game.
Lol. Finally! He lasted too long...that fumble must have really thrown the staff over the cliff. Good riddance.
gaffney probably saw tannehill sling the ball all over the field last week and wanted to be part of this, there is a rumor he picked us over the jets
