I have a feeling this whole Jets debacle is going to cost the Dolphins once again.

I know I know its only 4 games into the season and someone is already looking for ways things can go wrong.. Well your right however this time Im not worried about the Dolphins. We have a good coach and a very young team and Rookie QB that are learning on the fly. Im ok with that. I hate that we lose close games, but this team will need to learn how to close out these games. In the end it will only make us that much better in 2-3 years.

With that said the problem Im worried about is the how do I say it best.. Lets say implosion of the Jets the rest of this year. They are done. Lost their best player on both sides of the ball. Their QB is horrible, has been and will always be, and oh by the way they wanted SPARANO (Lol-- Fools), so as a Dolphins fan I should be happy right?

Well Im not. You see I feel that the Jets are going to end up with a 5-11, 6-10 season while the Dolphins are going to go 8-8 possibly 9-7 down the stretch.
What this means is that the Jets will have a better first round pick than us, and will grab the premier stud wide-out that we so desperately need. Them losing Holmes and seeing how their season falls apart will have them grab the one and force us to reach for one in the mid first round (unless we trade up-but I have no faith in that).

I may be totally wrong and I hope I am, but I dont see the jets drafting a rookie QB. They will spend big time on Free Agency and give Suckchez another shot..Again I know its early but I see our good luck now, coming back to haunt us once again.. Sorry Im a Dolphins fan..

Am I the only one thinking how this can hurt us in the end?? It's sad I think like this but being a Dolphins fan the last 10 years has conditioned me to be negative to keep my sanity.

Very possible, but I think it's too early to be worried about it.

I hope the Jets go 2-14 and I don't care who they pick in the draft. There are plenty of very good WR's in the 2103 draft, and hopefully the Dolphins will get one of them.

If the Jets implode, there is no chance Sanchez survives. He sucks. The fans are recognizing that, and they are turning against him. If Rex sticks with Sanchez, he will be signing his own death warrant. If they have a Top 10 pick, they will take a QB, not a WR.

That's football Dorf..no sense worrying about it..

Remember, Philbin doesn't necessarily think we have to have the resource of a true #1, he might wanna go in a different direction, like pass rusher, or corner...

i think I would agree with that, unless he has a magical turnaround..right now the guy has worse stats then Tebow..

Here's the thing, if Sanchez gets pulled who's gonna design an offense mid season around Tebow, I mean does Sparano have the offensive acumen as a McCoy from Denver?

If he is a premier stud wideout... you be aggressive and trade up and go get him.

I'm more worried about the loss to a division rival for our playoff prospects than draft positioning.

Whats the point of them getting any WRs until they get a QB?

Didn't the Jets offer Sanchez a 4 year extension at the beginning of this season? He has like 5 years left right? Talk about horrible deal, and way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Little early to be thinking about this, but you do bring up a good point. Jets will screw up somehow (they always do).

No, actually I am enjoying this season and I will worry about the draft when the season is over. I just happen to feel that there are a number of quality WR's in the 2013 draft and hopefully the Dolphins will get one of them.

In truth,I would prefer they draft a stud defensive lineman, who can rush the passer, or a top CB or safety with their pick in round one. I figure they can get a quality WR in free agency or in the second round of the draft.

We have needs at, in no particular order:

Free Safety (I think Reshad Jones can be an excellent strong safety). We need a play making centre fielder.

Edge rushing end. I love Odrick but I love him as a nickel tackle. We need depth and more pass rushers.

At least two linebackers. Preferably one of immediate starter quality.

A least two corners. One of whom has to be able to start now.

A big, red zone wide receiver.

Those are all the MAJOR needs in my opinion. Not mentioning the fac the roster is paper thing everywhere. I am to worried about who drafts where. We have a pile of picks and a ton of needs. Pick bes player available to fill a need. We are fine.

My first thought is why are you worried about the Jets? Why not any team who sucks worse then we will. It does not matter who the team is if they take the pick, they take the pick and there is very little we can do about it. It's early still and we will probably not take a receiver in the 1rst. IMO we will use that pick to replace Jake long. He simply will command to much money to resign and will be traded. Our 2 - #2's will be used on a pair of receivers. JMO

I wouldn't be worrying about what happens in a scenario in which there's only a 50% chance of obtaining a starting player (the first round of the NFL draft). It's not like that stands to make or break anything, especially when you're talking about how some other team is going to impact that.

Didn't want to turn this into a draft thread but Bama CB Dee Milliner should be our top priority come April. I could care less what the Jets do from here on out. I could care less if Tim Tebow starts and wins them 10 games, I could care less if Skip Bayless is really Martina Navratilova who secretly has a crush on Tim Tebow. I don't care how much weight Rex Ryan loses and unless we are trading for Darrelle Revis I don't care about his contract or his ACL. The Jets can suck it. I enjoy watching them lose just as much as I enjoy watching Dallas lose. I realize Rex Ryan wants the Jets to be taken seriously but I can't help but see Ron White when I look at him and his team. We should not have lost to them and i'm still pissed about it. **** the Jets! I hope they lose every game and then draft Matt Barkley. Mark Sanchez can quit football and be a towel model...Safer job for that tool.
For me it's the Royal Ryan Tannehill show here on out, my popcorn is ready and Sunday kickoff is still about 114 hours away.

Jetssuck is that u? I love it when I see the spirit of jetssuck come out in someone! lol. Truth is, we all hate the Jets.
To the OP, who cares? There will be other teams with worse records that will pick people that we wish we had the chance to pick. All we can do is see how we finish the season and know draft pick we have then debate who will be available and debate who we should pick.
I hope we squeeze into the playoffs this year. That might even be a blessing in the draft if we do. I can't tell you how many times a team picking in the mid to late first round was able to pick a player at a position we need that we wouldn't ever pick because we would be"reaching" too much!

I agree. We still need a linebacker who is starting caliber and after Smith and Marshall we are terrifyingly thin at corner.

The Jets have plenty of needs. They need a whole new offense, including QB, and their defense is aging. Enjoy the fact that they may keep the Dolphins out of last, who cares about them getting a higher draft pick. Plus, Sanchez has a huge contract and they have a bunch of dead weight contracts. They should thank Carpenter, otherwise they would already be in last place, which they should soon get used to.

With the way the Bills have been playing, Miami could actually sneak their way up to 2nd if they stop handing wins to teams like the past 2 weeks.

They are performing about equally now and Martin is playing our of position and as a rookie, so I would be okay with this plan.

Plus, lots of OT value in the second round this year. The second round is actually full of value at the positions we need.

Dorf, as Alan Burke used to say, do you sit up nights worrying about how the ocean gets its salt?

Seriously now. The Jets will suck and so will we. We will probably end up tied with them, with the same record and splitting games. The difference will be that we are on the way up and they have Sanchez and Sparano and Tannenbaum. And they're the Jets. They're cursed. They will have horrible drafts and blow all their cap room trying to buy a championship, ending up in cap hell and the AFC East basement.

Their luck left with Joe Willie.
