This is precisely how I felt after that game, and why my posts flipped like a light switch around here this past week.

In my opinion that TD/INT rate is so deceiving with Ryan this year. I've basically thrown it out and tried to look at the things that don't show up in statistics.

Color me excited about Tannehill. He's wise beyond his QB years and has the arm to match.

That's why even with a poor record and a slim slim chance at the playoffs, watching Tannehill (hopefully) progress into the franchise qb we so desperately need, will keep me glued to the tv on Sunday mornings with optimism.

That 4th and 10 haunts me not only because we lost, but especially because what should've been 6 days of the media drooling over Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins, is now more or less an afterthought.

This was a good article to see, though.

Look at this. A Dolphins quarterback, a rookie, taking the league by storm!

    Get excited!

I want that so bad... but w/o hype surrounding him it eases the pressure while he develops. If he keeps playing like this... he will get noticed.

Though Im not sure the casual fan of other teams really understands how good Ryan has been despite numbers.

I think the interesting thing will be how defenses from here on out gameplan against our offense, with Tannehill showing he can slice you at the gills, and Bush being among the best backs in the league.

Definitely. Also to expand upon it: How Ryan reacts when defenses stop treating him like a rookie.

Definitely this. I quoted the Hootie and Blowfish song in my region email on Monday, part where the Dolphins make me cry and several people responded with they would too if they had Tannehill. I had to question their sanity after the performance he put up on Sunday and his perfomance so far this season. I don't think other non dolphin fans know how promising it is to have a QB like this who should only get better. Colour me excited.

PS the only reason I was crying was that we lost another game we could have won!!!

This kid is as raw as you can get and yet he seems poised and confident on every play. It may not be reflected in the win/loss column, but he is easily the best QB we've had here since #13. Pennington was great as a stop-gap, but this is OUR guy drafted and quickly developing before our eyes. I feel like celebrating. Quick, someone toss me a sardine!

I think both. On the one hand he probably won't see as many heavy blitzes and the run game should become even more effective. On the other hand the reads will change, more defenders in coverage etc.

I think he can handle it.

The thing that surprises me most about Tannehill is how little he relies on his athleticism. If it wasn't for the fact that I watched tape from him in college I wouldn't think of him as an non-pocket quarterback. The lack of role outs and running has been really surprising to me.

I have been impressed by his ability to look like a regular pocket NFL quarterback.

I think this is when they should introduce his running the ball as a likely to be unaccounted for factor. If he drops back and they've released seven or eight into coverage, he should take off and gain yardage on the ground. That'll put them in a real pickle coverage-wise.

Sliding feet first at the end, of course. ;)

This is what is driving me crazy, good way and bad way, good way, he hasn't put running for first downs in his repertoire yet and is looking good from the pocket, bad way, he hasn't put running for first downs in his repertoire yet.

I'd like to see us give him the option of calling a draw in those 5 WR sets. If the defense vacates the middle let him audible, pick a hole and go.

I said in the game day thread about Tannehill having good feet in the pocket. I think it was he looked like the original bullfighter or something like that.
So important and I agree they are still teaching this kid not to take off.

Tannehill doesn't always drink beer, but when he does...he prefers Dos Equies!

Tannhill will pick them apart with audibles from pass to rush or rush to pass, no matter how they play us. The best thing for a defense to do is play honest.

IMO he's been showing/flashing these skills every week. That was why I have been annoyed with all these threads questioning whether he should be starting. I guess it takes flashy stats for people to start to notice what should have been obvious.

Yet people on our board saying they wont vote for him for rookie of the week.

I hate to quote old pro wrestlers on y'all (actually i dont, thats a lie), but to quote D'Lo Brown:

You would be surprised. Neighbor who is a Redskins fan rolled his car window down last night to tell me, "That Tannehill looks like he's for real!" We're both pretty thrilled with our team's rookie QBs this year...

Well now wait a minute. His completion percentage went up considerably, and so did his YPA. So did the number of yards he threw for. I'd call only one of those stats flashy, and it's not what I focused on. What I focused on was the fact that he looked completely unlike a rookie in the Cardinals game, whereas in the previous games IMO he did not.

I think you might've been seeing things in the previous games that project to what he did in the Cardinals game, but the difference for me is that the projection happened as soon as last week, rather than let's say a year from now. His learning curve just went into overdrive.

What about what you said yesterday about how Bush so often stalls drives by trying to improvise too much and causing negative yardage plays?

What exactly are defenses doing now, in the "treat Ryan like a rookie" phase, that they'll no longer do in the "stop treating Ryan like a rookie" phase?
