I don't understand the argument of Angels didn't make the playoffs so Trout shouldn't be an option.

It's not like the Angels had a bad record. If you take both players off their teams, whose lose impacts those teams the most in WINS? In your opinion?

Btw, I am happy with the Rays season considering how awful Pena was and how long Longo was out for.

Cabrera won the Triple Crown. That hurts.

Is anyone going to talk about the Rangers collapse? They were up what 12 to 15 games in July and now have to play in the play in game.

I don't understand how you can not give a Triple Crown winner the MVP. So Cabrera will win it, and it is well deserved.

Of course Trout would not have big RBI numbers because he bats lead off, so that's not even part of the discussion for me. Trout has a better on base percentage (let's count walks, not just hits), is a better base runner and is a superior defensive player. Sure, the Angels missed the playoffs, but they won one more game than Detroit. Why punish Trout for playing in a tougher division? You could even argue Trout is more valuable on his team, as they were sub-.500 when he started and went on a nice tear since then (Detroit still has Fielder).

In a fair world, you have co-MVP. In my mind, I think you can make a compelling case that Trout is the clear MVP. But in the real world, Cabrera wins in a landslide.

The playoff argument is silly. Angels were in the wild card all season. To say they were never in it isnt hindsight, its just wrong. And you completely ignore the division the Tigers play in. Miggy gets MVP because Trout had to face tougher competition and still helped the Angels win nearly as many games as Miggy while playing in the majors for less games...?

Miggy is better at hitting HR's....Trout was better at nearly everything else you do on a baseball field.

Looks like I'll be rooting for the Cleveland Indians this year. Very happy Francona is back managing and in a good place for him mentally. Not any pressure, he has friends in the FO. All he needs now are some players.

Any time injuries mount -- especially early in the season -- a popular lament among fans is to bemoan what awful luck their team is having. I have no problem with it whatsoever, because if one is locked in on a favorite team and players keep getting hurt, it's easy to feel like nothing is going right for your boys.

That's what I was trying to tell you in the other threads. Health is so important, especially in close/tight playoff races. People look at it as an excuse sometimes but it is legit.

With that being said I do think this chart is a little misleading but the article does a quick/easy job of explaining the quality of injuries don't really reflect in this chart. For example if the Rays had a healthy Longoria the whole year I think they make the playoffs instead of Baltimore.

Again one of the biggest reasons why teams like the Red Sox or Phillies were bad this year were the injuries, it's teams like the Mariners that I feel sorry about because they had good health but still stunk.

Again though that's where the chart is a bit misleading. It accounts for guys like Michael Pineda, Pedro Feliciano and David Aardsma missing time since they were at one point on the 40 man roster yet they were never intended to pitch this year so that's already 486 days counted on the DL (the same can be said for every team though). But yeah give the Yankees credit to get past some of those big injuries like to Pettitte and Rivera for example. They had enough solid depth to be able to overcome that.

With the MLB season nearing its conclusion, it’s time to look ahead to the hot stove. There’s a lot to keep track of in the first full offseason under the sport’s new collective bargaining agreement:

    • Immediately after World Series - Eligible players hit free agency
    • Three days after World Series - Option decisions due
    • Five days after World Series - Qualifying offers due
    • Six days after World Series - Free agents can sign contracts with teams other than their former clubs
    • 12 days after World Series - Players must accept or reject qualifying offers
    • November 7th - 9th - GM Meetings
    • November 20th - Deadline for setting 40-man roster in advance of Rule 5 Draft
    • November 30th - Deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration eligible players
    • December 3rd - 6th - Winter Meetings
    • December 6th - Rule 5 Draft takes place at Winter Meetings
    • January - Teams, players exchange arbitration figures
    • February - Arbitration hearings take place

I just have to sit and laugh seeing the Dodgers just throw money around like it's nothing. Seriously 3 years (w/ an option) for 20 plus million for Brandon League? Really? So dumb.

With the way they're spending money, especially on older players I can't wait to see what the state of that franchise looks like in 2 or 3 years.

The Royals have acquired Ervin Santana from the Angels, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (on Twitter). It's not yet clear what the Angels are obtaining in return for Santana.
