Selfish or a desire to win? This could be a dangerous thing if we try to keep that desire in check. I'll take the undying desire to win-JMO

I am not saying Reggie is the perfect back. Maybe the guy know's one way and that is 100%. I want our players to give 100% all the time, every play. I just think when you start trying to give players what ifs the team will ultimately suffer. You give the guy the ball and tell him to take it to the house. Let Tanne manage the game.

He'd have to seriously F up to make a mistake bigger than going out of bounds in that situation.

More Reggie Bush, less Daniel Thomas. Yeah, he scored today, but his lack of awareness and speed on the 3rd down screen is just another example of "go **** yourself DT". He's terrible and I don't want him on the field unless Bush or Miller are hurt.

We need to get better play from the TE. Fasano is what he is. We'd all love a Gronk or Graham, but it's not like those guys are everywhere, but aside from that, we need better play from Clay. or Egnew needs to step up.

Gaffney - I can't wait until he's ready to go. Should add something to our passing attack. Lord knows we need it.

Secondary depth - Played well today, but we need some help just in case.

Thomas is actually running the way a back is supposed to run in a zone blocking scheme. One cut and go, and Thomas has the feet and the explosion after the cut to pull it off. He's decisive about his cut behind the line, unlike Bush.

I blamed coaching and the player at first as well... Was watching the game with a buddy who played college ball and he blamed Tanne... I wasn't buying it and he explained his QB would always remind everyone in that situation not to go OB... He explained he would know, but the QB still reminded everyone... Something to think of... Sure it's on Clay first for not staying in bounds, but hopefully as Tanne gets more experience he's reminding people in the huddle and we eliminate some of those mental errors.

The biggest area of improvement we have is to stop turning the ball over... Both turnovers today could have been avoided. I'm not in love with our play calling in closing minutes of the game - thought we got lucky on the Hartline PI call, but turnovers is the big thing.

Agreed. That said though, I have no clue why Mike Sherman was passing in that situation. I know it's old fashioned to slam it in there but that is all we needed. Could have spun 35-40 seconds on a team with no timeouts. In that situation I run the ball 100 times out of 100. Clay is a fool though. He did everything wrong. He needed to stick it up there instead of trying to turn a corner that was not there.

All it would take is one play where Egnew was supposed to turn one way but turned the other that led to a pick for everyone to realize why he's been inactive all season and wish he would've stayed that way.

Eh, that's not really coaching. There are some things that shouldn't have to be coached at this level. That's one of them. My 5 year old nephew would've known to get down in bounds on that play.

Lane has been one of the pleasant surprises this year sir. Yes he had a fumble but he also has a td, caught some big passes, and throws some great blocks in the run game...

I am pleased about the win but do we really think bush is the answer at runningback ? I dont think Daniel Thomas is any good, I did see Javoski Lane Fumble but the network changed away from the game,

if Miami really wants to get to the next level we need a back more like Ronnie or Ricky .

i cant figure out why Miami didnt go after a more legit tightend or wr in the off season.

i will say our defense really suprised me today . seems like we are improving but we are still not that good still on offense.

Absolutely. Especially given with just how suffocating the defense was today. You trust them to hold Cinci with 1 minute and change on the clock + 0 timeouts. Instead it was closer to 1:50.

Explaining what the goal of the team is in critical times is absolutely a coaches job. It is the coaches job to make sure everyone is on the same page. Otherwise you end up with what we got. I agree with you that He should have known not to go out of bounds.

The point still remains, Reggie Bush is not playing running back the way it's supposed to be played in this offense, and right now it's hurting the offense a great deal IMO.

I am as happy with the win today as anyone else on this forum. Yet I also recognize that the Dolphins are still several positions short of being a legitimate Super bowl contender.

I think they still need to upgrade their secondary, even though I admit they played much better today then I thought they would. Smith and Jones are keepers and Carroll seems to be playing at a much higher level.
I still feel Carroll is better suited to come in on passing plays and the Dolphins need another quality CB and an upgrade for Clemons. On defense they also need to draft someone who can apply pressure opposite Cam Wake. Right now their pass rush is not consistent enough.

On offense the Dolphins need more play makers. They have to get a TE and a #1 WR, who both can stretch the field. Right now, Hartline is the only deep threat the team has and he is more a possession receiver than a legitimate deep threat.

If the Dolphins can upgrade their pass rush and get a couple of play makers on offense, they will be able to complete with any team in the NFL on a weekly basis and should be a legitimate playoff contender in 2013.

Keep telling and convincing your team that its an easy game won by the team who wants it the most.

Clay is hurting us..he must get better, if not, and Egnew is a liability maybe a trade by the deadline for one.

    Get Gafney up to speed..

Sign your own players if the salary cap allows it.

I have nothing bad to say about the defense..they played undermanned, and they played very well.

Clay just needs more confidence in this offense. He's made mistakes but I don't think it's an inherent problem because he had a good year last year. Egnew's having issues getting the offense. There are alternatives. Depending on Donald Lee's thigh injury I think he should be brought back since he's played under Philbin before. I also liked Ladarius Green in the draft but he's buried in that SD Chargers depth chart so I would hope Ireland considers trading for him to see what he's got.

Several people have blamed the player for the lack of judgement. I don't necessarily disagree he should have known. IMO it is also the coaches responsibility to make sure the players taking part in the play know what is expected in these circumstances. Apparently that did not happen, and we are lucky they did not shove the ball down our throats with a extra minute of time they should never have had. It is bad coaching. Is it correctable, of course. But just like the player should have known not to run out of bounds the coach should have known to make sure he knew. Especially given the coach has only known the player for a few months and couldn't possibly have evaluated the player to that point in such a short time.

I didn't follow Clemons closely today and so I didn't notice anything pop out that was bad. Did he do anything you see that made you think he needed to be upgraded?

I guess we can agree to disagree. You feel Bush should only get what is needed. I feel he should take anything he can get. You feel Bush should run up the guys back and fall down for no gain if it is not there. I feel he should do whatever he could to gain as much as possible. Is he going to loose yards in the process? Absolutely, but I remember a runner called Barry Sanders who was very similar and he was considered a superstar and is in the hall of fame.

I'm pretty sure they practise those situations just like they practise 3rd downs and red zone situations. It comes down to execution. Coaches can't do eveything for them.

As smoothering as this defense already is, if we add a compliment to Cam Wake, the NFL better look out!!!!

I understand and agree. The upstairs coach could have also reminded Tanne to remind Gates not to go out of bounds also. It is simply dotting your I's and crossing your T's
