The Fins stop the run very well… one of the top 5 teams in the NFL… They also have a very good punter in Fields… and I think the back end of the defense is getting better right in front of our eyes. R Jones looks like a legit NFL safety. SS is doing a good enough job (I dont think he is playing great). I liked what I saw from Carroll today… actually made a couple plays. I think the issue on defense is going to be Clemons. Until that gets fixed we are going to have problems. On offense we dont have the receiving threats we need to be a consistently effective offense.. Over all I agree with you that this team is NOT a playoff team.
You must not have watched the game then, because I don't remember a single wide open WR in the endzone, at all. ever.
I think Philbin probably realized he should have punted the football before the Carp miss or at least he might understand when he goes back and watches the game tape.
Did anyone notice how the momentum swung Cincinatti's way whenever it was cloudy and dark in the stadium? It was so uncanny that by the end of the game I thought we might lose due to it turning overcast. Good to know we're in alliance with the sun, lol... Same thing happened last week in Arizona when there was that one big ray of sunshine at midfield in overtime. It was messing everybody up and we were in that light when Tanne threw that pick in overtime...
Its hard not to get excited watching RT Still a work in progress but seeing some solid football out there Philbin is growing on me too. I am waiting to see him turn his players into believers so I can start believing in him too. I think we are on the right path.
Brady plus those TE's = 14-2. ? Did you see them score on 7 straight possessions last week? 6 of them TDs? he said they are the class of the AFCE. Who's better. Us? The Jets? The Bills? Who is better? They lost one game legitimately. the other they lost by a missed field goal. Hmm, sounds familiar. Their running game is pretty good this year too. Before this week they were 8th (we are 5th).
Certainly not out of the realm of possibility considering the AFC isn't that strong and a 9-7 team will definitely make the playoffs with 8-8 being possible, but its doubtful especially after dropping two really great chances against the Jets & Cards. Its tough to lose two games that you easily could have won and bounce back, but we'll see. One being against an NFC team helps. Obviously if they win the re-match with the Jets and sweep the Bills again they have a shot. Can't lose to the Rams at home either, NFC or not. Don't want to go from winning a tough road game against an AFC team with a winning record to lose at home to a team that is inferior, even if only slightly.
You're underestimating the impact Brady and those TE make. Though their offensive line is pretty good as well. Their roster is pretty devoid of talent, and I'd take any roster of any team in the AFCE over theirs. I'll be shocked if they finish better than 10-6 honestly.
I just watched the Patriots handle the Broncos very easily. I have to agree that they are still the top team in the AFC East. The good thing though is that the Dolphins seem to be a whole lot closer to the Patriots right now than they have been in quite a few years. We may not get them this year, but they better watch out, starting next year. Some play makers on offense and another pass rusher and the Dolphins will be giving the Patriots a run for their money. To me, Tannehill is already the second best QB in the division, and I will admit that I didn't want the Dolphins to draft him in the first round. I am happy to admit that I was 100% wrong in my assessment of Tannehill as an NFL QB. I also give Ireland credit for having the balls to draft him with the Dolphins first pick.
So I went to the game, and was near the tunnel where the Dolphins entered and exited. Lots of Dolphins fans were there near the tunnel at the beginning of the game, and the players gave a couple of acknowledgements of us. Were quite a few Aqua in the stands today at Paul Brown. Lots of the Bengals fans were expecting an easy game. Bengals fans noticed the stripes were on their side also. 4th quarter there was a REGGIE chant. At the end of the game Philbin gave a FIST PUMP (Not a Sparano FP) and a little emotional yes going into the tunnel as the dolphin fans were yelling good job great game at him. Wish i got a picture or video of that! Two of the classiest Dolphins was Pouncey and Odrick. Odrick came over and signed some autographs, and Pouncey gave me one of his gloves he was wearing. Stephen Ross was talking with some Dolphin fans in the stands at the beginning of the game. All in all the Dolphins weren't stuck up to their fans or seemed like were better than anyone else. If I remember anything else I will post it GO FINS!
Didn't want to create a "Playoff Thread", since it would jinx everything. But the Dolphins are currently the AFC's 6th seed (Jets 5th seed). Temporary, but still cool to see. If the Patriots beat the Jets next week, the Dolphins move into 2nd place in the division alone.
