Does Tannehill Stare Down First Read, Any Correlation w/ Tipped Passes?

It's common sense really.

Lineman that are not getting to the QB will look to see where the QB is throwing and try to jump in the passing lane.

As common a tactic as there is. Taught in Little League.
If the QB is telegraphing it makes it easy.
Hell one of the batted passes Tannehill was staring so long the Lineman had jumped prior to him even making an arm movement. Guy blocked the pass on his way down.

I'm sure the 3 step drop contributed to the issues but I can think of at least one specifically where it was Tanny staring in one direction for a long period that caused the bat down.

THey MUST address this.
It's amazing to me how many QB's have this issue and make it to the NFL level.
Looking off a route seems like a pretty basic skill but clearly it is not.

 

Pump fake isn't even necessary really.
A look the other way is fine and if you really want to sell it a simple shoulder shimmy works fine.

You do not become a top QB in the NFL though if you cannot develop the ability to look off where you want to go and still be able to find that WR or spot you're planning to throw to when you look back.

... and before I get jumped on... I'm not saying Tanny is a bust because of this.
I'm saying they need to work on this.

Saw on Twitter that Tannehill was 11-17 on plays where he was blitzed. I got really encouraged by this, until I remembered Henne also had pretty solid numbers against the blitz...

 

I know nobody is talking about this anymore but I think we didn't give JJ Watt enough credit. I am watching the texans and Jets game right now, JJ is leading the league in sacks and tipped passes. 8.5 sacks and 7 tipped passes. The man is an animal. We havenmt seen this problem with Tannehill because we haven't seen JJ Watt again.

lol. by the way looks like the Jets just lost. Texans just intercepted with 1:50 something left on the clock and a 6 point lead. Jets only have one time out!

 

by the way Gruden just used that nick name after JJ Swat just got another tipped pass on the last play of the game. make that 8.5 sacks and 8 tipped passes. he leads the league in both.

 

I think we have our answer as to who is to blame.
Watt is just an animal.

Things that make me say hmmmmm.....

Watt couldn't hack at Central Michigan, transfers to Wisconsin and becomes a freak after a change of position from TE to DL, while adding 70+ pounds?

 

We should do this to all draft busts. Tell them to gain or lose weight then change their position. lol
