Yep. although to be fair, no one was overly upset with the pick, just one or two people who adamantly (and incorrectly) felt that a a center/guard should never be taken with 15th pick.
all I kept saying was that if Pouncey turns out to be the anchor of our offensive line for a decade, he was well worth the 15th pick. so far, Pouncey is proving the naysayers wrong.

The argument for not picking a Center that high isn't very good in my opinion. Guards get picked in that range, what is the key difference there? Not to mention that Pouncey in retrospect appears to very much be an extraordinary player, and the BPA at that spot.

    A good pick.

Admittedly I was not enamored with the pick either at the time. Our OL is playing at or just below elite level. I think he's a HUGE part of the reason why. I also love his demeanor on the field. He's a mean, tough SOB.

Imo if you fill a needed position with a pick with a damn good player i couldnt care if you "pick that position that high"...

“It is a very advanced workout, and I think it has taken my game to another level,” said Pouncey, whose brother plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a Pro Bowl selection as a rookie following the 2010 season.

“It was a lot of hard work, and it was time consuming. But it is paying off. With this high-paced offense we’re running, everyone has to be in top-notch shape. We’ve been doing this since April. It has helped the offensive line and this team.”

Music to my ears, and an incredible tool to use in projecting performance and development accurately.

Great talent..Meet progressive strength and conditioning program..meet hi level performance in season..

If I'm a Gm, Any player that I aquire, must have this essential element to his mindset, and if you don't, you ain't gonna be aquired..

Considering the way blocking schemes are constructed in today's NFL, I agree.

I think with our draft history since, well since forever, picking a guy who is actually good regardless of his position is something to be celebrated. A pass rusher isn't better than a center if that pass rusher is Eric Kumerow. Then again a pass rusher isn't better than a drawing pin if it's Eric Kumerow.

Quite a few people wanted Ryan Mallett. Fewer and fewer by the day it seems...

I'm a Gator fan so I watched him throughout his career and while I was happy with the pick, even I didn't anticipate him being this good this early. Maurkice was the better brother in college without question, but it seems Mike has passed him by as a pro. I'd be surprised and more than a little disappointed if Mike didn't get the Pro Bowl nod this year assuming of course he keeps this up.

It's tough to put Pouncey ahead of his brother, but he's pretty close at this point. Of course it looks like his big bro is going to miss some time... I liked the pick when we did it given that we a) needed interior OL, b) he looked to be a better than solid pick, even then and c) at the point that we picked he looked to be the bpa at a that time. He's becoming a real pro. This franchise has a storied list of C's and Pouncey looks to be the next in line...

This is why I'm glad Marshall and Davis are gone, it's players like Bush and Pouncy that will build a long lasting culture of success.
