Don't think that there are any vets out there that we would want other than Suh or Ngata, and they are off the market until they are washed up...

Anyways if we trade him for draft pick/s we would still have to wait for a few years till they come into fruition... how many years did it take Soliai to become the DT that he is today??? 3-4-5 years?... Cameron and Mueller got him in 2007, yes the same Cam Cameron....in the 4th round... So are we willing to draft and trade Soliai away now???

Cameron's only 2 remaining players from the 2007 draft... Fields and Soliai...

 

The significant workload began in 2010. Kind of short time period to establish any particular pattern. Even last year, in his supposed down year he was still a plus grade overall and against the run.

I just think when one starts to discuss replacing one of the best defensive players on the roster, it is sort of like just looking for something to argue about.
If pass rush is your concern, then you look for a bookend for Wake next off season, and move Odrick to full time DT where he belongs.

 

Predictability in play calling is a very big deal. If you have a run stuffer like Odrick on the end and Soliai on the strong side middle that means the LBs know where the play is going. The run game will be stopped forcing the other team to pass which is crucial for a defense (you control where other team throws the ball, you control the action, you control the game).

 

That is a good point BUT we must not get into Wannstedt mode and totally ignore the line for years just because we have good players. I'd draft two defensive lineman every year no matter how good your starters are.

 

This is stupid. Get a DE or OLB that can rush the passer before you replace big paul. Doesnt make any sense to try and move him on the small off chance you get someone better in either phase of the game, let alone both.
