hubris! none of the above is true don't care if we win or lose, as long as we play hard & move forward my expectations are being met with every game we will contend next year: need a good draft, free-agency & some experience got the coach & franchise qb the team looks good p.s. be careful what you wish for... Miami by 3
That's impossible. A loss either has implications for the team's playoff potential or it does not. If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
It means two well-coached (shhhh... rebuilding) teams on the rise played, and one of them had to lose. Although, it does matter how one team loses, and how the other team wins. From the big picture, though, one game matters very little.
Same as it would be if we won, this yr is all about Tannehill, and developing the offense, and developing players in that offense. If we win..great, 3-3, I'll take it and be optimistic, 2-4..if Tannehill puts up 35 pts and we lose then I'd still be fine with it.
Watch, there will be a massive reluctance to vote here, because people are on the fence about whether they want to generate hope in this team's reaching the playoffs. So far there are over 20 views of the thread and four posts by people other than me, and only one vote.
That would imply Jeff Fischer is a good coach and so I can't agree. He is basically the slightly more intelligent version of Tony Sparano. He'll definitely get the Rams to mediocrity and if they somehow build a great roster his coaching skills might get them to 10-6 and maybe a playoff spot. However during crunch time he's a coach that relies basically entirely on the talent of his roster. He isn't going to out-coach or game plan any of the better coaches in the league. I was really depressed when his name came up in our coaching search.
It's not that a loss tomorrow means Miami is a bad or poorly coach team. It's just that 2-4 is a really difficult obstacle to get over if you want to go to the playoffs. The odds would seem really long at that point.
Honestly I think it's because your polls are often so very black and white. Life isn't black and white, there are grey areas that exist. Neither option would suit what I think...so I can't vote. There should at least be an "other" option.
I don't get the reaction here this seems like a pretty simple to me. There's an option that essentially says a loss tomorrow doesn't mean anything about Miami's playoff chances.
Right, in your opinion, a loss either has implications for the team's playoff potential or it does not.
I voted the first option....but I'd choose that with a loss or a win. Team is building itself up nicely but it's not a playoff caliber team...and if it manages to slide in....it's going to be one of those ugly wildcard games for us again.
A loss when you have a middling schedule always lowers your playoff chances, but it doesn't make them disappear. So I would not say it means "nothing", but I also wouldn't say it means "everything". This poll wants to make you pick an extreme and I don't feel either applies.
To me it means nothing. This season has always been about one thing, Ryan Tannehill and his development. I am taking the long term view of this team. That said, a loss would be disappointing.
No honestly it isn't and the reason our world is a demented disgusting mess is that people generally believe it is. Your options are that either it means "we aren't playoff caliber" or "It means nothing about our chances" How about this for a grey area. "It doesn't mean we aren't playoff caliber, however it does impact our chances by reducing them" That falls right between your two options, thus....grey area. If you can't tell I basically reject any linear thinking, it rots the brain.
Because its a silly question/pole. Any team thats 2-3 and loses to drop to 2-4 OF COURSE it hinders there playoff chances. Now, if I`m not mistaken, right about now you`ll say I read it wrong or I misssed the point. YAWWWNNN.
By saying "nothing regarding the team's capacity for being a playoff team" I figured it was clear I was talking about the team's ability and whether it would be perceived differently because of a loss. Hell I didn't figure we needed a poll to determine our playoff chances, statistically speaking, would be reduced with a loss. Of course that would be the case.
And if I'm right about you, you'll come back to see how I responded to you despite the fact that you're yawning. And if you don't, that'll sure be good too.
Well when you sit back and currently look at the big picture (Post Season appearance), Shou, CK and others are are pretty much spot on... The AFC this year is a pretty inconsistant Conference right now... many injuries and other performance issues have sprung up over the last week or two... Other than a few consistant juggernauts (Pats, Houston), albeit its only been 5 weeks, the Phins do have a good chance to make a Wildcard Run, if they show and pull off the win this Sunday... It would be almost like the fairy tale 2008 season, sort of speak... except that if they do make the Post Season they have a chance to advance to the second round... of course this is the optimistic view.. but... The way many teams are playing in the AFC this year the odds are better for this occurance than any other year in the past decade...
Call it the short run if you want, but what a lot of you guys seem to be missing is that if we win and the Patsies don't travel well to the West Coast and lose at Seattle, we're tied for the division lead. That's something to play for.
You gotta give people more choices than two. They're just posting how they would vote. Probably one game too early to ponder playoffs. I think after 6 games you should have a good feel for any team's chances. I'm okay with any outcome as long as they're focused and playing hard. I'm not willing to put any expectations on wins and losses, just effort and concentration.
First, no it wasn't clear. Second, my assessment of their ability wouldn't be based on the loss, but rather on how they played. Whenever I read people post "it's all about the wins and losses", what I'm thinking is that they must lack the ability to actually analyze the game so they have to go simplistic and just look at the win and loss totals.
I like to think that middle lightning bolt off in the distance is hitting our Doctors Hospital Training Facility in Davie...
Right, but the sample of people responding to this poll consists in part of those, which IMO is why the results are interesting.
