the intention was good, just not valid under current circumstances
no one wants to consider Miami not to be potentially of playoff-caliber

most of us know it is more important to develop talent
& team this year than to win a few more games
there is a big difference in how you win or lose these games
much more so than the simple computions in the win/loss column

we finally have a Coach & Franchise QB
    experience will dictate our development

Miami is destined to be a perrrenial contender

should not be lost on anyone that every loss betters our draft potential & schedule for next year

I voted nothing, but even that's not how I really feel. I just don't think we are a playoff caliber team yet. We'll win a few games we shouldn't, we'll lose another close one or two. All the while, this team will be growing but in the end, I don't see us as that good a team.....yet. We can generally stay with most teams, but we simply don't have the talent that many other teams have...and we're still in the 'easy' part of our schedule...

Great. Paid $400 for three tickets and a parking pass. Just the type of hypothetical thread title I'd like to see.

I actually see this as a fairly important game... first time being pretty heavily favored.....going into bye at 3-3 would be huge for us seeing as how the season has been going...... not to mention there are a lot of media eyes looking at us right now.. i'd for the phins like to show em whats up

History says the last time the Dolphins were not on local TV was against the Rams. Not that means anything per se,but it is the Rams.
Sounds like a lot of $$ for those tix.

The impact of a win is very big for the entire culture and franchise, to realize just how bad this franchise was mocked, will bring great redemption, on many levels..

I hope people realize and get to the game, cause if we win, its game changing.

I think if you lose at home against a team that's either equally talented or slightly less talented, especially one that just lost their #1 Receiver, it means you're probably not a playoff team. Would mean they'd have to step up against the Patriots and beat them at least once.

I would normally say we aren't playoff caliber anyway, but this is a weakened year. Wouldn't be shocked if they went to the playoffs like I would have before the season started. It seems whoever wins the wild card will most likely play at: Chargers/Broncos or Patriots. Possibly Ravens, but Balt's schedule with the fall of the Steelers makes them look good for the 2.

A loss would mean that you jinxed us by creating this thread/poll. That is what it would mean...

Seriously, it depends on how we lose IMO. Another close one and it means nothing... if we get blown out and look lost... then yeah we know what that means... but I'd be shocked if that actually happens.

A loss tomorrow doesn't mean anything. Despite the hopes of everyone on the board, we're not a playoff contender. There's a lot to like about our team moving forward, but I don't think we have the pieces in place to compete quite yet. I hope we win, I hope everyone plays well, but tomorrow isn't all or nothing. I'll be pissed if we lose... However, in te grand scheme, it isn't going to decide anything for us.

Personally I think this game puts this team in a tough situation, because if they lose, I think it's "game-changing" to use your terminology, whereas if they win, I don't think it will have a positive effect of nearly the same magnitude.

In other words, if they lose, it's the beginning of a "here we go again" season, whereas if they win, I don't think the win in itself does anything near as strong in a positive direction.

They have a lot more to lose tomorrow than they have to gain IMO.

Think about it like this: if they win or lose tomorrow, think about how a win or loss in the next game would affect that.

If they win tomorrow they're 3-3, and a loss in the next game makes them 3-4, which is nothing special. Whatever momentum they gain tomorrow will be dashed with a loss in the next game.

If they lose tomorrow, they're 2-4, and win or lose the following week, their momentum still will have been dashed tomorrow.

In other words, they would have to win the next two games to create anything special with regard to the playoffs, whereas they could lose tomorrow alone and lose whatever specialness they've achieved so far, without being able to regain it with a win in the next game alone.

We win, we justify recent good publicity, and caplitolize on an apex of sorts, we'd be the 5 th seed, And it would do a hell of a lot to inspire this dormant culture..it's worth somethin ya know..

I would do everything possible to win this game..tell them they are currently in a playoff chase, and get'em hyped.

I wouldn't be, because to lose a game where the offense performs that well, would mean that our defense played a horrible game, and there are no rookies over there for excuses, they're a young veteran team that has played enough games together without accomplishing anything, to not allow complacency on defense, that defense better come out like a bunch of crazed dogs.

And I agree, but a loss would demolish everything IMO, so a loss stands to do more harm than a win does good, which puts some pressure on the team just at the time when they're favored for the first time and have an opponent that may not be taking them lightly for the first time this year.

It's the proverbial "hump" a team has to get over to become considered "good," which isn't an easy hump to traverse when you've been bad for this long.

This, exactly! We are not going to the playoffs this season regardless if we win or lose tomorrow. But we are progressing, our key rookies are developing, off season we will fill the few remaining holes in the draft & FA, then NEXT year, lookout AFC, here we come!

If we can't win this game the playoffs don't need to be mentioned again. This is coming from the guy that started the first playoffs thread of the season. lol
I believe this will be the 2nd win of an on going win streak that will have us all talking playoffs in a few weeks!

We agree, we've seen this particular team fail in this very type situation.

Their only excuse would be if Tanny plays bad.

I hope you aren't saying we will win by a field goal. That won't happen. lol I can think of other scenarios where it doesn't mean we will win by a field goal. I just want to make sure you aren't delusional. I remember when Carpenter use to be good. What the heck happened?

Which of course is entirely possible with his being a rookie. If I were the coaches I would gameplan to have this be a game in which the onus to win is put on the rest of the team and not Tannehill. If you take the entire context we've gone over in these posts into consideration, I think it's a game in which Tannehill could press and put too much on himself and end up making mistakes.

It's really too bad we don't have a dominant tight end who can be a security blanket for Tannehill, because this game has the kind of dynamics that would make me want to plan the passing game around that kind of guy and the running game. Fasano is a decent tight end, but IMO he's definitely not the kind of receiving tight end with whom you can gameplan to carry your passing game on a particular day.

Shou...it's about reality, not about generating hopes. The fact is that while we are improving and getting better the light seems to be shining at the end of the tunnel, we simply aren't that great of a team from an overall talent perspective this year. We've had two close games that could have gone either way, a blow out caused by a young team and one game that we managed to hold on and win that was really close. But because of the developing talent on this team, we are very, very likely to have ups and downs...right now we're on an up...but even if we lose another close game to the Rams, it won't mean that this team is any closer or further away, it'll mean it's a young team that is still learning to win and still needs an infusion of more talent at certain positions...

I agree with all that, but I also think this is a team that could gather momentum if things go the right way and be there in the playoffs as a young, wide-eyed team that has the potential to upset somebody.

By the same token, it's also a team that could end up having a very mediocre season and end up 7-9 if it doesn't establish that momentum and get over the hump. Today's game is one that could help it start to move over that hump.
