Is it really that special that we can't just have a Cancer Awareness month?

Seems completely ridiculous to make an event like that and focus on one type of cancer.

I think at the very least there should also be a prostate cancer month, or a testicular cancer month. Let's at least balance the gender on the thing. ;)

Any efforts made to preserve the existence and proliferation of breasts, are definitely not efforts wasted.

    It's a mixed bag.

It's hard to call awareness and fundraising of a deadly disease a bad thing, but at a certain point it's an issue when there are more deadly and insidious diseases(or even cancers) that get much less funding and awareness.

Agreed. Just like how people are making a big deal over pink gloves, shoes, etc. I don't see the big deal.

There surely are more deadly and insidious diseases, but there are none that attack an area more worthy of saving. More breast cancer awareness i say!

This thread makes me sad. The NFL has been reaching out to women for years. What a better way than this, a disease that has taken so many of my sisters? Or one that impacts their children, husbands, etc? This does not diminish the importance of other cancers. If we compared every philanthropic endeavor to others, no work would ever get done.

    You sure about that?

It sure makes it sound like this type of cancer is more important than others, doesn't it?

I just hope all the funding is evenly dispersed to all kinds of cancer.

Because breasts are a beautiful gift from God. Have you ever squeezed a nice firm pair? I mean they are like a grown man's playground. I like to nuzzle and lick and....

No, more like it's affected you personally so why should you look at the situation objectively, honestly.

I know I'm the bad guy bc how dare I question the manner of which they do something like that.

 you mean like taking away funding from breast cancer research and giving it to skin cancer instead?

It obviously IS more important to find a cure for considering it represents 11% of all cancer, highest of all cancers excluding lung cancer (which deserves an asterisk b/c of smoking) IIRC.

It's not. Heart disease is the biggest killer.

All types of cancer (not limited to breast cancer) are #2.

WADR, are you TRYING to troll?

BTW, you're free to donate your money to whichever cancer research you see fit. If you don't want to buy anything pink then don't buy pink.

I'm just saying why not just make it Cancer Awareness month and educate people about all different kinds of cancer throughout the month then take whatever proceeds are made and put it towards cancer research and/or treating all different kinds of it? Just makes more sense.

What's the point in only focusing on one form of it?

Its to get women interested and buying merchandise.

Also the league doesn't donate a whole lot of the stuff they sell.

Personally? How? I do not have nor have had breast cancer. No one in my family has died from it. This does not mean that I do not understand the importance of women getting checked for it. Are you really this much of an ***, or are you just playing one tonight?

Of course it would affect her personally..... just like it's affected millions of others, hence having Breast Cancer Month, duh.

Are you just trying to be a dick? Were you shot down recently by a woman with a double mastectomy?

You talking about all your sisters like you know all these people w it sounded pretty personal. You're a woman and you're on a message board consisting of 98% of men so I guess you have to think I'm attacking you. Climb down off your cross for a min and realize I'm not talking about it like it's a bad thing, but just a little misguided.

lol I just don't get how you people can't see the point here.

Murder is bad, so if we want to bring awareness to it by having only a Black on Hispanic murder month?

And no, but I do have cancer of the prick at times.
