    Pay attention:

For Fisher to have come here, he wanted whatever amount in salary AND personnel control. Those two thing together equal the price for his services. We were willing to pay him the salary but not give him control. Therefore, we weren't willing to pay the price for Fisher.

Can you wrap your head around that or can you not?

Look Don Santo, if you don't give someone their demands, but keep your original offer on the table, I don't think that can be considered turning someone down for the job. As I said, I think Ross still wanted him up until the day that he signed a contract with St. Louis. We clearly interpret that differently.

When Fisher is going around saying "I this" "I that", it tells me that he's the one that walked out on negotiations. He's pretty clear that he chose the St. Louis job over Miami, IMO

I'll go with his word and ESPN's reporting over your conjecture.

That is happy horse****, quite frankly.

Leaving the offer on the table says, if you want to lower demands then we'll take you, but we are not going to pay the price you're asking, because we don't feel you are worth the price you're asking. This is not rocket science.

This is not conjecture on my part.

    So we said no?

How many Coach-GM's do you know that actually pan out? I'm guessing you're thinking guys like Belichick.... that's because the only guys in your mind are the ones that pan out. Not many do, and many burn the organization to the ground.

You can cut it whichever way you'd like, but there are a segment of people who believe Ross, and who believe their owner made the best reasonable offer to bring in a decent coach.... and then there are segment of people that are sniffing Fisher's Richard Petty boxers and tooting his horn.

You don't have to believe everything that's out there. You're the one that makes that call.

    Here and there
Has it ever dawned on anyone that neither parties turned the other one down as much as they both realized that a deal wasnt going to happen?

Fisher wanted X$ + personnel control.
Miami wanted to pay X$ minus personnel control.

Neither ones demand were met, so they parted ways, and by the sounds of it in a very friendly "thank you very much" sorta way, you know...like adults do. Both are very happy with the decisions made.

Miami- Heres a contract that we think is fair.
Fisher- I need personnel control in order to coach for you.
Miami- We would like you to coach for us but we dont want a coach that has personnel control.
Fisher- Ok guys well ty for the interview.
Miami- Ok Jeff thank you for coming in sorry a deal couldnt be reached.

    "door closes"

Miami- you see the size of his mustache?

    Fisher- I HEARD THAT!

But seriously, both parties just realized it wasnt a good fit and thats ok...hugs

I live in Nashville. I saw Fisher coach games, saw interviews, discussed him and his team for 14 seasons. I can guarantee I know a lot more about him than you do. His history has been discussed to death on this very site, but it's practically like talking to a brick wall. You Fisher-haters are going to think what you're going to think. People can point out how he took over a terrible team, coached while his team had to play in Memphis and Vanderbilt stadium for two seasons while Titans stadium was being built here, he had a GM who couldn't handle the new salary cap and they had to purge a talented and deep roster all in one season, had his owner force him into drafting Vince Young... dude, the list goes on and on, but, why mention it? It's been said here over and over and over, and it's still ignored. To top it off, you guys criticize him over stupid crap like his mustache and him wearing a t-shirt.

You guys are going to continue to think what you choose to think. I need to learn not to discuss anything with a closed mind. I mean, what's the f*****g point?

Fisher proved yesterday that he is a very good football coach and is going to make the Rams a contender. We should have lost yesterday, but just enough unforced mistakes did the Rams in. I would have loved to see him in Miami but it looks like we'll be alright without him too.

I disagree, I think if we would have given him control he'd be here.

Yeah thats kinda what the post says..they both came to the conclusion that neither side was getting what they wanted and parted ways..they turned each other down because both parties knew it wasnt a good fit. Sure if Miami gave him control he'd be here, it's what he wanted, but on the other hand if he accepted the role of coach only he'd be be here too because its what the organization wanted.

No one is the jilted girlfriend here. This need to make it into a soap opera of who dumped who is for fans to debate and media to have something to talk about, but it doesnt make it reality.

Why are we even debating Fisher? He is the coach of the Rams and Philbin is the coach of the Dolphins. The Dolphins beat the Rams yesterday irregardless of whether the Rams had more yardage, more plays or their quarterback had more yards. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. I could care less if Fisher is a good coach or a bad coach, he is not the Dolphin's coach. I feel like we finally have a good coach and promising rookie quarterback and that is all I care about. Everything else is irrelevant.
