At this point it looks as though Carthon will be joining our coaching ranks whether Defense or Head coach... And I like Tuna sandwiches so that is a good omen...

Will Tuna look at Garrett as Head coach...? Scooping him away from the Boys...

    The Plot thickens

Garrett for Headcoach could be a huge possibility if Parcells signs.

Last week somebody (Mort?) reported that Bill actually likes Cam. They have a mutual friend in Bobby Knight. I wouldn't be suprised to see cam stay. Cam is happy just coaching.

That is true, they are both very close to Bobby Knight. I would like to see Cam stay and tuna hire the new Defensive cord.

Allright after months of no FinHeaven, and reading these posts here, The Parcells incident has provoked me to join my fellow Phin Phans in this arena of chat.

IF.....Parcells is hired this tells me a few things.

#1 Wayne is still dedicated to making this team better, and proving that no expense will get in the way of it. Also neither would talks with other parties in buying our beloved team...get in the way of it. Kudos to Wayne, truth has always been blaring like a neon sign...Wayne is NOT a football guy, but he tries to surround the team with well respected football men, and Parcells is a giant Diamond in that regard.

#2 Parcells will help immediately. Now IF Cam stays and Randy stays...that will be a interesting relationship, but nobody's ego should be too big, lets face it, at best this is a 3-13 team, so hopefully they can work together. My only question is this, its obvious Parcells would be responsible for alot of major decisions....IF Cam stays and tanks next year, which could easily happen, and he does it with a much more talented team. Face it, Parcells name alone will bring in hard working Free Agents to Miami, plus the high draft picks....IF Cam tanks again, Who will coach here knowing Parcells runs the ship? Bill Cowher wont, really no big name Coaches might not want to give up the power that Bill would own here in Miami. I would love to see Coach Chin to have a legitimate shot at coaching here, if the future unfolds in that direction.

#3 Finallly someone who can give some post game interviews with some fight, some spunk, no Saban drool, or Wandstache dribble. In 2 years, Parcells as a Fin, will be in those really cool Coors Light Coach Commercials.

Glad to be amongst you all again fellow Phip Phollowers......our team may be low, but we shall continue to raise our heads high!

This is SO awesome. He turned down the Falcons and is considering the Dolphins.

I think this is Exactly what we needed! A true, powerful, Football man. He needs to be the MAN for the next 10 years, imo. I hope he stays there and that it gives us stability that we need as an organization.

Mortenson just said it's 50/50 he will join us, don't know what to make out of that, maybe he doesn't have the balls to make a call or he is out of the loop in this one.

Well he wont be the GM, and I don't want him as that . . . VP is perfect.

He may keep Randy and Cam . . . but bye bye Armstrong and possibly Capers.

I put this out on a different site (phins.com) on Dec. 3 re: rebuilding the Dolphins:

"I think it starts with someone at the top of the organization who will restructure the entire football side. A Bill Polian type. The coach/GM model will not work any more - the league is too complex at this point and you really haven't seen success in this area in years.

    1) We need a strong President/GM. Brian Wiedmeyer is not getting the job done; neither is Joe Bailey (but, I might keep them as a figurehead). They aren't really football minds. Essentially, we need a Pres/GM who answers to WH only. And, a guy who is competent, not too old or past his prime, but who is given a long term deal to restructure the organization from the ground up. Scouting departments and everything. The piece-meal, fix this part, fix that part, approach has failed. Right now, I don't see Randy Meuller as this guy."

I am hopeful that Parcells is. If he will stick with the Dolphins for at least 5 years to really set in place a great system and make the franchise great once again.

word. i'm not crazy about this.

parcells does bring a certain amount of caché which can't be minimized when it comes to attracting top coaching and personnel people, though.

but you just know he''ll walk before three years pass, and if he hasn't fixed the roster (with help, of course) then he'll leave us still with work to do.

Do you really need to pay Parcels a few million dollars to advise getting rid of Keith Armstrong and Dumb Capers?

I am pretty sure that Mort report was from over an hour ago when the news broke that he turned the Falcons down and Miami entered the picture. At that point, I honestly don't think Mort knew what Bill was thinking about in regards to Miami. The ESPN article(likely Mort's work) is now saying they are very close to a deal. The Sun-Sentinel is also reporting a deal is very close. Same goes for the PBP. The Miami Herald says they are in the final stages of a deal.

Unless something major happens, Parcells will end up here. Though I wonder if a deal will be struck tonight.

if he fires meuller, he'll have to replace him, if he is truly to be president along with having the title.

that might open the door for mckay though, although mckay is probably ready to take a pres position himself, and might well be offered one between now and a couple weeks after season's end..

    Yes!!!

I'm so excited about this. If this goes through and he becomes Head of Football Operations this brightens our future immensely.

I STILL don't understand this obsession with him leaving us after 3 years. SO WHAT? It's not like he leaves teams in dire need, cupboards bereft of talent, no suitable assistant coaches, and idiot football people. ALL HE DOES IS TURN FRANCHISES AROUND!!! How is this bad? How can you not want him? He has a long track record of doing this. He's not coaching, just managing football operations, which is what he loves. He understands he doesn't have a good handle on "today's players", but he knows he has an eye for talent like none other. This can only help. I don't understand the issue with him here.

Maybe, Blank was flying up to NY State to sign Bill Parcells to a contract, so when Blank was jilted that left Parcells up in NY, so if it is to happen it will be a day or two depending.

Adam Schefter reported if Parcells comes here he would hire his own GM likely John Ireland from Dallas and then they will consult to find a HC. Likely John Pascloni the linebackers coach from Dallas, Mike Zimmer or John Haley.

That is not quite factual, mostly the teams he left prior to the Cowboys were .500 teams or less, the assitants in place that became HC's were quickly fired or quit.

MiamiDolphins34 had the story back on December 11th on football’s future.

You can see the thread on Finheaven if you dig back to Dec 12.
“RUMOR: Parcells to become Fins Pres?†(I don’t know how to link to it)

Guess the guy was right on, and it has been in the works for awhile (before our big win last Sunday)

If Parcell is hired bye bye Mueller. PFT said he will try to bring in Ireland the draft scout for Dallas. Parcell let him run the draft for the Cowboys and they said they are good friends.
