It would be pretty cool to acquire him during the season, but I wouldn't be upset if they just waited til free agency to snag him.
A deal like this, if true, would take some time. As you said, there'd need to be contract talks with Bowe and the Dolphins. So IF Cole's sources are correct here, it's gonna be an agonizing wait.
When I first saw this I thought I high pick wouldn't be worth it but yeah moore and a mid rounder would make a great deal of sense.
Would be like the Reggie trade with the Saints.....even if it takes time....make it happen, sign him Wednesday before the Jet game and he has 2 td's playing sandlot ball not even knowing the system!!!! *dreaming*
What makes you say he's lazy? Just curious. There are a lot of guys that would kill to be that lazy and put up the numbers he has, on some bad teams to boot.
I would have pretty mixed feelings about this. I have questions about his work ethic and the wisdom of adding a guy who demands a huge workload ala Brandon Marshall. On the other hand the timing might make this a pretty good buy for a talented player even with the warts.
on the other hand could imagine if the staff kept him out cause he still needed to learn the playbook lol
Dolphins in talks with Chiefs for Bowe You know that as a fact? The guy seems strong and in pretty damn good shape to not be worker. I don't know personally though.
Ahem... Jason Cole @JasonColeYahoo Just to clarify something: I'm NOT reporting the KC and Miami are talki g trade over Bowe. Not yet, at least. Misunderstanding by someone
There have been a number of reports about his work-ethic: The talent is certainly there. But generally speaking, I'm very rarely a fan of players whose teams aren't even willing to invest any money in them. The Chiefs are the team best equipped to assess Bowe, and they're essentially saying they aren't willing to invest in him. That is a huge red flag IMO.
Why hasn't KC given him a long-term contract then? There have been a number of reports stating they weren't happy with his work-ethic.
If a trade is made, it will likely be a knee jerk reaction to the owner's wishes of getting a top receiver, even though I do not beleive Bowe is a top receiver. Anything above a mid round pick is overpaying.
I've got kind of mixed feelings on the veracity of this too. Scott Pioli has got to be on the hot seat at this point, I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to let him make decisions like that mid-season. On the other hand he's playing under the franchise tag this year I believe, and was considered by some to be unlikely to resign next year. It might make sense for the Chiefs to get something for him now.
That would be good he is around 100yds under Hartline's season total atm and might catch Hartline's total with the Dolphins on a bye week.
If you want Dwayne Bowe just wait a year and woo him in free agency. His RAC abilities, strength and ability to score touchdowns make him a good fit for the current personnel group, but his attitude and rumors of poor work ethic make him a poor fit for a Joe Philbin/Mike Sherman run offense. I just don't see why you trade a pick to get him for 10 more games. He'll spend the first two or three games just trying to learn the offense.
For the right deal, sure. This is just a wait and see before I judge it. He certainly cant make us worse, IMO...but I'm not sure it answers all the question marks at the position for next year either.
