helping Wilfork up is a good way to tear a bicep. Better chance of rescuing a kid being crushed by a Buick.

Hopefully the Jets will be favored next week. That could dampen whatever fire they come out with on the heels of this game. If they're a dog we're in deep trouble IMO.

Holy crap this announcer is a moron. "The Jets stand alone at the top of the AFC East" "This is a stunner, biggest underdog of the day".

That's not true. Sometimes the losing team loses b/c they're bad or inferior, period.... which makes them a better opponent to face than a winning team. I'd rather face a 1-6 team coming off a loss than a 6-1 team coming off a win.

You know what lost the game? Sparano calling a throw out of shotgun on 3rd and 1 near the goal line. At least call a play action throw.

Dolphins better not hand Sanchez and co a win again. Pressure him and knock him to the ground as much as possible. Need some sacks this time. Should come out rested and take control early.

And the Patriots are clearly vulnerable this year.

statistically you probably have a better chance of beating a losing team than a winning one. Just a hunch.

How is it besides the point when your point was that it's allegedly worse to face a team coming off a loss?

You seriously can't be saying what I think you're saying. The Jets are going to play better/worse or be more/less motivated based on what Vegas thinks? Riiiight

Teams in general are more likely to win after losses than after wins. The "in general" part was my point. Your point was something different and therefore beside the one I made.

Well of course you're free to think whatever you'd like, but realize that the statistics regarding home underdogs disagree with you. :)

I think there's no doubt that the Jets are at least 2 point favorites next week. If I had to guess, the line will be Jets -3.5

Good. I don't like playing against home dogs unless I have a really good team.

I predict the Jets, as a home favorite, come out flat next week after that loss today. However, after we get up early, I think they'll come back and win.

Again, that's not necessarily true. If a team is losing b/c they're a subpar team, then they're losing for a reason; hence a loss won't make them more likely to win the following game, or else they wouldn't be a losing team in the first place.

If what you were saying is true then the Colts should've been an 8-8 team last year b/c they "would've" won a bunch of games coming off all their losses. :wink2:

I'm worried about the game. Ryan's Defenses always seem to give inexperienced QBs issues. I hope we're able to run the ball at least semi-effectively.

No I'm not. Go back over however many weeks it would take to pick 50 teams at random that lose one week, and you'll find that those teams were more likely to win than lose the following week. That's the rule. The exceptions come when you introduce other variables that account for those exceptions, as you have done.

But either way, I'm done talking about it. I've made my point and you've made yours. :)

I've heard that before. Every year it seems. Then they go to the SB. Tom Brady is still Tom Brady. He has weapons all over the field. If his Oline gels, it's going to be NE dominating as usual.

Wrong. How 'bout if I go back to 2003 instead?
Teams have a 1062-1162 record following a loss.

Yup. The announcers spit off a stat of something like the Pats 3 wins are by 50+ combined and the 3 losses less than 10. 9 times out of 10 and divisional rivalry is tight as the teams see each other 2x a year.

That's understandable considering most Jets fans have little in life to look forward to outside of their team winning. :shifty:

(and yes I know what he was trying to do, prevent the Pats from getting a TD, however the fumble itself was his fault, still funny though).
